Alex your the best! I didn’t mean on that specific play fields bails in general The play before GP runs basically same route and fields understand pre snap based on defense were he is going catches snap takes one step drop and fires a strike And clearly he makes the right pre snap read and knows were he is going on the play in question because he’s looking right at GP should be catch turn and fire but he never gets his feet set and keeps falling off I’m sure he’s feeling the rush a little I coach at the HS level other side of ball ! Between you and Derek Bell I will be an OC in know Time 😬 your football knowledge of every position is really impressive
EVeRY PodCast'r has been salivating over "Fumble Fields" & his (two game average) 94 PR performance thus far Can nobody see this top down support this franchises decisions or else? Will the real #2 please stand up
Notice how your diversity of opinion DOES NOT get a heart from the content creator? In America the only diversity that is accepted is ("race"/color of skin...Something that I don't see as making folks any different from one another) NEVER opinion.. You are not allowed an inverse opinion to the herd.. The herd mentality at one time was shunned and diverse opinions were applauded... Now it is looked upon as aggressive (almost physical aggression) when it is only a simple difference of vantage/viewpoint.
On second slant that’s a very basic throw fields needs to make if he wants to be a starter .this is Kenny all over again bailing and using his legs when you have easy move the chains passes
Disagree. This is an unblocked rusher. Not bailing on a clean pocket like Pickett. Could try to stand in there and hit it but get him just trying to escape.
Tough block for Jones on that long throw. When the QB leaves the pocket and the OL can't see where his QB is it's not easy but you are 100% right he has to let the defender go without grabbing. A sack after that is on the QB
I feel bad for Jones, he is the definition of round peg square hole. Tomlin needs to get it through is thick skull that dude can't play the right and this "rotation" thing is just plain stupid. Cost us at least 7 points.
He is looking real good! I really want to see him with Wilson at QB. Could be something special! Especially if they find a good #2. Maybe Roman can help. Those Penalties sucked so bad!! Do away with 3 of them and its not even close in the end! I hope they rest Jones and let him heal up and get his strength back and move to the Left side next season. Being the only Backup right now is not good though. Fautanu looks like the real deal on the Right side. Thanks Alex!! Who are you gonna do next?
Hey, thanks man! Good game. Congratulations on your... new uni's... To be honest, preferred the Elway era hunting orange jerseys & the sky blue helmets with the pissed off bronco busting through the center of the D especially compared to the modern sad cyber-horse that looks alot like the Texans road uni's. The football Gods will smile upon the Broncos again someday.... Peyton may have to be separated from the equation first but high times will indeed come again to Denver.
Alex I'd like your thoughts on this. As good as Pickens is we're already seeing what many of us knew and that's the lack of a legit #2 hurting this offense. Jefferson and CA3 cannot get open, All the hogwash about "Smith doesn't need a #2 in his offense" is just nonsense. Do people really think this offense wouldn't be much better without another threat on the field? It would open up things for everyone else and hopefully Omar and Co. are keeping that option open.
Troy Fautanu was the PFF Player of the Game. No pressures allowed in 29 pass-blocking snaps, and he was beaten only once in 26 run-blocking snaps. No penalties either (I believe). Not bad for his first regular season game!
*Guarantee the OLine coach, Pat Meyer did not have to lobby Omar or Tomlin to add Frazier with the 2nd Rd pick. Still a little surprised the team was able to draft both Frazier and Fautanu. Frazier looks like a Top5 type Center already as a rookie. Similar to the Chiefs rookie a few years back. Immediate impact. And Fautanu is well on his way as well*
Man it has been a long time since I've enjoyed watching a Steelers game but a win is a win. Just hope there's at least one entertaining game this year before they get blown out in the wild card round.
Certainly, there were very several encouraging aspects of our game against the donkeys, and JF gave us a little hope with a couple of well sustained drives. But that second half was the most hideous of affairs in the history of second halves. I get that it’s early in the season, but the Steelers had better clean things up before they tackle the meat of their schedule. And that O line especially needs to come together.
People are not going to like this at all, but I think we have to go back to Russ when he’s healthy. The offense looked great in the first half but Arthur Smith called such a conservative game in the 2nd half, and I think it’s safe to say that’s because of Fields. He has the potential, we saw it in the first half. let him learn behind Russ for half a year and start next year if we can re-sign him
What they're doing with Brodrick Jones is outright crazy to me... Dan Moore played through an injury and didn't miss a snap... You'd think that'd be the guy he'd be rotating with especially if they actually view him as an eventual left tackle
13 or 18 points isn't going to cut it against the Bengals or the Chiefs or the 49ers! We invested a ton into our O line over the past two years and it still can't open running lanes for more than two or three yards!
If this team can find that scene receiving option clean up the penalties and the offensive line improves there is no reason to think we can't hover around 20 points a game and with this Defense trust me that will be enough to win most games don't beat yourself can't do anything about the refs and make plays when we have to but our run game was about 140 yds not a bad day running but clean up and figure that out and we will be alright and I know week 3 will be our first real home game big advantage but week 1 we at least had the home crowd in there house
The defense is playing well, but they are facing 1 Rookie in his 2nd game of his career and the another that sat out for most of the season last year with a major Achilles injury and is in his 1st year with a new team and offense.
honestly ok with what i saw from the offense. got a glimpse of some actually explosivity in the passing game. incredible. very funny watching a game like the saints where they score for real. i think the steelers are from another dimension where football didnt evolve past 1965
@@enjoyer6201 ok pal. yes im ok with winning. our defense will be doing the heavy lifting for most of the year. we probably should have had 20+ if not for a couple of not normally called penalties. i dont like it, but long as we keep winning i dont care. i saw a step up from fields and more general dominance from pickens. given the new qb and almost total lack of recieving talent and shifting tackle spot, sure, whatever.
In the second half alot of our players complained about breathing issues.. Watt, Jackson, Heyward all said the were out of gas mid 3rd quarter because of that Denver Air...
They played an offense that's more pathetic than there's I think they can only beat teams that are bad. Tomlin coaches to safe to allow the team to evolve.
Fields surprised me the first half. He played really well. Second half we ran into the same problem from the good old Canada days: Everyone knows what's coming and our OC doesn't make any changes. I'm still not a fan of the Arthur Smith hiring. He had the same issues in Atlanta. I like a strong run game but this is not the old NFL where Mike Tomlin from. We need a new HC with a whole new staff to finally arrive in this passing league.
I agree....didn't we ditch Matt Canada in hopes of adding some new energy to the offense? I am 100% on board with a run heavy approach...but his offense shows no creativity or variety. Or is this a Tomlin problem?
@@judiknott2063 Both. Mainly Tomlin. He is the only constant in the decade-long lack of success. At least if you measure success in playoff wins, division titles, MVPs, etc. and not in seasons around .500 Tomlin hires these people. Just think about it: If Rooney hadn't stepped in, Canada would still be OC. The main problem was that we didn't have a passing offense, and Canada has managed the running game fairly well recently. To solve the problem, who will Tomlin hire as his successor? A man who is unable to set up a modern NFL passing offense. Let's be honest: every winning team, like the Chiefs, Eagles, 9ers, Dolphins...etc., would have fired Tomlin years ago.
The tackle situation is a mess. What was the point of drafting 2 LTs in the first round if none of them play LT? Dan Moore has played well but he must have pics of coach if he was given the LT job from the time he joined the team and after drafting 2 blue chip players at his position.
