Try installing the server without modifying the code, I believe the code was corrected, and unfortunately I am not in a position to make a new video for a couple more months.
So.. I have a sttrange question.. sooo Thank you for showing me how to Setup the server :) Got it done and on line .. and friends can join. BUT.. so.. how do I manage? the server. like server settings.. like difficulty and stuff? if you know what I mean..
Great video but I have a question: do I need to set my IP address in windowsgsm to my external address so that others can join it or leave it as my local network IP?
You set your server to the IP address of the machine that is hosting windowsGSM. you also want to make that IP static so it doesn't change on a restart or after power or internet outage.
@@survivalgamingclub hmm interesting. Im trying to troubleshoot issues with Icarus not showing up in the in-game server list and not being accessible outside of my LAN and I hoped that would solve the issue.

This is not my manager, I simply help fellow survival gamers with servers and such. You should be able to edit just about anything you want within the manager, and if a specific edit is missing, you can still modify the ini.
Server not showing? Wildcard made it so home servers can't be found without clicking the "SHOW PLAYER SERVERS" checkbox. They're a dirty company tbh, love the game, hate the people who manage it.
@@survivalgamingclub I did add the ports to my router the game showing up in the lan section but once i click to enter it attempts to rejoin and i did allow through firewall. Quick question but i buy icarus on steam to play it on a server or can i use fixitonline version?
@@survivalgamingclub Currently i am running 24H2 latest version on my Wife's Pc, did a Reinstall and i installed all the Microsoft Visual C++ and DirectX and Graphics Driver then i installed steam and steam won't open but running in background, then uninstalled steam and disabled UAC and reinstalled steam and still same problem how can i fix this cause i really want steam to work with this Windows Due to its Giving me the best FPS on games that i play through steam. May i provide a TikTok video to show you the problem?

How do you increase the ram amount? Also i just noticed i cant find player or dino stat change values, like i like setting the player and dinos from weight increase of 1 to 2 etc.
Ram is automatically handled by the server, so you have to increase the amount the machine physically has. if you have 32 gigs and the server is using 8 gigs that is all it needs and there is no way to force it to use more.
I am trying to install a server with the manager, I made a profile while following the turorial but when I try to load the profile the program just goes away and the icon in my taskbar just poofs if I hover over it... what am I doing wrong?
They have changed the manager a lot. Please go to the webpage and follow those instructions. IF that doesn't help join the discord so I can get more info.
This is awesome tool if you are not savy with linux and want to host a quick dedicated server, however I suggest you learn linux basics, even though you don't need those and then go host a server via LinuxGSM, super simple and lightweight, you can do it with or without GUI. LinuxGSM or LGSM servers come with everything so just fire and firget, follow their instructions and it will work 100%, helps if you know a bit about linux so you can set server to start on every server reset (VM reset or physical server reset) the service will start running server again so power outages or crashes don't shut the server off, also Cron jobs where it will check for LGSM or server updates every X minutes (for me it is 5) but it can all be learned within 5 minutes tbf. i unzipped the ADM and clicked on it, im only getting a top section to copy/move or initialize a new profile.. no matter what i do i cant get a new map set up or use an old one. ? just select a profile.. HELP!
I can tell you without any data what so ever it will run a lot better, just because it has a fraction of the foilage of the Island. it has to run better. that is one heck of a lot of poly's / triangles it doesn't have to render.
so i have ports foreworded on windows defender aswell as my internet router. i do not locally see the server populate and my friends cannot see it either. i dont know what i have done incorrectly, this has been a 3 day journey trying to figure this out :(
ive been using this and it lets me play, but my friends get timeouts when trying to join, i have it port fowarded and through my firewall, am i missing something else?
hey great video thanks. I also installed this ASA Manager. Succesfull started and its showing up online. But i cant see my Server in Game. Tryed to type the name but nothing. Im using port: 7777 and Query port: 27015 is that correct? Thanks for your help
You need to make sure you open the ports on your router, and that your network traffic isn't blocked by firewall/antivirus/other program, for more help join the discord.
Could you add an already existing server to the Dedicated manager? I have a server I've been running for a couple months now and don't want to start a new one.
yes this is possible, I would create a backup of your existing server, Create a new server with the server manager and then after the new server is up and running, I would try to restore the backup that you made with the other server. you can do all this with no harm to anything. otherwise it is a matter of copying the correct files to the same place on the new server.

This works for me but not my friends. For them to play the server, i have to invite them while im ingame. The server works fine, they just arent able to find the server themselves.
thank you for making this video. I was able to get a server for icarus up and running. This is my first time trying to run a server. I cant figure out how to require a password to jump into it. some random person was able to jump into it and so i killed it and don't want to open it until i figure it out. could you please explain how?
You need to edit the serversettings.ini general location... Serverfiles/Icarus/saved/config/windowsserver/ join discord if you need further help. I also recommend you watch the how to troubleshoot any server manager video.
The NAS would have to meet the minimum server requirements to start, you could probably do it pretty easy of an old used computer, servers don't require GPU power to run.
I did everything as you taught in the video, there's just one thing I didn't understand, the server only appears in the game's server list, if I enter the game, after that, if someone enters my server I can leave because the server doesn't crashes, but if everyone leaves my server, it disappears from the server list. What did I do wrong ?
I watched your second video showing the IPS that appeared on the website, but I followed what you did, I used the IP that was registered for you on WINDOWSGSM. I don't know which IP would be the right one to use, I was very excited when I saw your video, and I managed to do what you did, but I'm upset, because I'll have to leave the game open for 24 hours without being able to close it, otherwise the server will disappear.@@survivalgamingclub

the problem i'm having is it don't show up when i search in the game and trying to add the ip in the steam server list don't seem to work either, all my friends have no problem, so right now the only way i can play on the server is if one of my friends is in the server already, how do i even fix this, this sometimes seems to happen to other games too, not sure if it could be that i'm from EU while my friends and the server is based in the US, or if theres some setting somewhere that i don't know of thats stopping me from seeing the server
@@FlaccidSWE I had never seen the query tool before, so I have little experience with it. All other games I have added in the steam window have all been with local IP. Feels like every game now has some random quirk that has to be figured out.
I tried to launch a second server, but it crashes because despite the queryPort configuration, the game still wants to use the default port. Do you have any tips?
I have not confirmed this, but Due to the fact you need to be logged into steam to launch a server, I think they are limiting one server to run at a time.

@@survivalgamingclub yeah I did use the same Json file as was generated when you first run the dedicated server in steam. I had that running for about an hour and never saw it load in. When I tried your method with windows GSM and it spun up and showed in the list almost immediately. I also registered my server instance with steam using that Game Server Login Token it generated, and I added that to the config options for it.
