I just have wondered why the civilian population are not all carrying gas masks. Had they given it up by 1942-43? Stopped expecting poison gas attacks?
2024 watching this. Their American accents are dreadful. The plot seems very similar to the Richard Gere movie “ Yanks”. I love these old period dramas. No bad language and no blood & guts horror rubbish that permeates modern “ entertainment”. Fantastic.
At 41:13, I saw this as a kid when it first aired and for a brief moment wondered if that was a B17 that'd just been left sitting there from WW2. I then thought how silly that was, but soon afterward found out there WERE still B17s sitting like that in remote areas, even later than this was filmed
The american troops came from all over the USA a lot of grabby people who thought they could just get our girls and bump them all. When the american got into Germany they raped many German women they were a lot of filthy pigs and had no repect for anybody some were nice mainly officers but the men were filthy rotten boys!
I was twenty eight and my kids were small....happy days! Now almost seventy and watching this remembering the characters like it was last Thursday.....great series! Thank You 👍
I've given it 4 and a bit episodes and i've seen enough. Such predictable soap-opera with usual stock characters, particularly the English ones, that even good acting can't raise the entertainment above a plodding mediocrity
It was not the “United States Airforce” in 1943, it was the United States Army Air Force (USAAF), they were in the army and were trained to be infantry soldiers before they became technical soldiers, so @ 4:16 she was wrong. Not a very auspicious start to the series.
My Dad was 82ND Airborne WWII 504, my Parents met in Leicester and married November 7,1944. My Grandfather said The Americans were over sexed,over paid and over there !!!! My Parents Had a Wonderful Life Together and I was a mid life Baby, as my Sister was born in 47, and me in 64❤❤I was Truly Blessed !!!!!
These WW2 movies remind us of the many hardships and horrors of Hitlers brutalities. Too bad braindead Biden didnt have the same memories of D Day that those many soldier heroes had who showed up. FJ&JB...the crime family and Regime! F ing coward!
There is a book that continues this story ( found at a boot sale ) reading again at the moment - “called we’ll meet again, The end of an era” I loved this series and never understood why they didn’t make more . Was thrilled to come across this book - it ties up all the loose ends and has a lovely way to catch up with all the characters and what happens to them many years into the future . Great to watch this again !
Aww poor letty having Harvey’s baby then he gets killed. When I watched it first time I sobbed my heart out😞 it nearly happened again! Aww this was the best series of my teen years
Watched this as a kid when it first aired in 1982. I would have been about 11. Had completely forgotten about the old woman and just how much I hated her at the time !
I remember this series during my travels to England during the early 80's, being in the US Army and married to a British girl from Brighton, W Sussex at the time. I was glad to find these episodes again.
