😮🤯😆🤣Holy crap! I keep looking for Patrick Stewart, but I only see Brent Spiner there. He has Patrick Stewart dead to rights! Apparently they've spent a little time together.🤔😆
Brent Spiner has suffered quite a while not being recognized as a truly talented performer. Unfortunately, much of the industry looks down their noses at science fiction and the genres performers. I have regarded sci fi as legitimate storytelling and perhaps more important than other kinds of storytelling. The first Star Trek series predicted many future inventions. The cell phone, talking computers, flat screen monitors, large screens depicting vital signs in hospitals and now we have laser printers holding the promise of the replicator on the Enterprise. And by the way , those inventions were created by fans of the show who were inspired as youngsters to attend engineering schools and the like. Thanks Gene Roddenberry .
I could be mistaken, but I think Brent (as Data) imitates Picard and Q in one sentence in the pilot of TNG. This may be a well known thing - I watched it for the first time yesterday (4/22/23). Butter late than never. Oh! He totally does, during the trial, when Picard asks Data to repeat what was said. he sneaked in a Picard and a less precise Q. Or he could be lip-syncing. He might not have perfected it at that point in time.
Indeed. I saw Stewart in a one man show in the 90’s over Christmas. He was jumping from the floor to the top of a table and had a ton of lines, so while being energetic and talking almost constantly, he was the sole person on stage the entire time. I found out later he was deathly ill but refused to rest. So when Spinner plays up Stewart’s theater abilities, he’s not joking.
One of my favorite stories is the Duke of Westminster (not the current one) on an ocean liner playing cards. As a duke the proper form of address to him is "Your Grace". So the duke says, "gentlemen, I want this to be an entirely informal affair. You may address me as 'sir'. "
I can’t decide if he sounds more like Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen. To be fair, I saw the two of them on Graham Norton’s show, and only knew by looking at them.
Brilliant impression of Picard's accent. Phenomenal. However, in real life Patrick Stewart has a mild Yorkshire accent from Northern England... not the Radio Pronunciation ("educated home counties southern English") accent of the Picard character. I've no doubt Brent could do that equally as well. Super talented guy! My understanding is that Brent Spiner does a brilliant Ian McKellen impression, too. 😁 Haven't heard it yet but very much looking forward to it on the strength of this!!! 👍
I had heard a story of Patrick Stewart was in a movie with a comedian and whenever the comedian would be near Patrick he would speak to Patrick using his voice at first Patrick was amused but after a while it became upsetting to Patrick
Loved his character in the original ‘Night Court’ TV show. My husband and I wish they would bring back Brent in that role again in the new ‘Night Court’.
One thing in life that I wish I could do is do voices. Kinda bummed that I don't have that talent but I'm proud to have other great talents that most can't do but that just makes us all unique on our own ways. Daaaamn I wish I could do voices haha!!
