i really like this content. makes me want to go work on why my b2600i has detonation issues only when cruising at low speeds after a new ignition system
I just want to point something out. The badge on the front says "2.5 Fuel Injection" This thing initially came with an Iron Duke. It wasn't a V-6 truck initially, that's a swap, potentially at the same time the CNG was done.
I've owned alot of S-10's and blazers if you like working on vehicles this is the GM junk for you my friend . I spent more weekends on these models than anything I've ever owned
I’ve gotten MANY counterfeit AC Delco parts from Amazon. Plugs, wires, filters, and on. I wonder how much counterfeit parts have damaged a once quality brand?
I'm with the man who mentioned vacuum pipes to gearbox. Also put a potentiometer on the lambda sensor signal wire, and set initial timing to 5° btdc, then wind the fuel trim pot back until a gunsons colortune shows a nice light blue color. Probably be around 30mpg i reckon. Less fuel equals spark in later, equals complete burn And will run cooler. Less thermo dynamic loss. Sounds mad, but it's true. Keep up the good work Jimbo 😎
1995 Dakota V6, single cab, 8' bed. Vinyl upholstery and rubber floor matts. Only options were AC and radio. It's a rolling junkpile - I gave up trying to keep everything working years ago - so it is dying a death of a thousand cuts. But it hauls plywood and 2x4s with the gate closed, so it still does what I bought it cheap for 20 years ago.
Friend of mine has one of this old S-10 pickups. She has a 4.3 and a 5 speed. And still driving it at 92. It's in great shape, and I bet she could ask twice what she originally paid for it.
My first truck in high school was the GMC version of the S-10. One of my brothers bought the Chevy version. Both were black short beds with gray interior and chrome package with Camaro wheels and manual transmission. Great little trucks.
Jimbo I had one like this years ago, one tough little pickup. One thing that got me into trouble several times is my 6'ft 2" frame, my right knee would brush the headlite switch and turn on the lights during the day and the battery would be dead! One time the pickup sat for three days that way, while at a dealer school in Witcahata?? KS. Just a little heads up to you.
I WANTED TO BUY ONE BUT THEY ARE ASKInG BETWEEN 5 AND 10K FOR THEM AT TWENTY YEARS OLD . i bought a twenty year old town and country for $2300 . IT HAS WAY MORE CARGO SPACE.
That thing is super clean!!! I’d be curious to see how the new Valvoline Clean and Protect would clear up some of that engine sludge build up seen when the valve cover was taken off.
The timing curve on the truck will allow you to advance the base timing about 7-10 degrees without the IAC motor zeroing out and setting a code for high idle. Puts a bit of a spring back into its step. You probably already know this.
