Cities, counties and parishes across the US need to understand that it costs more to house, feed and give medical treatment to cats in the shelter than to perform TNR surgeries free of charge to community cats and release them back to their neighborhoods. Feral cats don’t want to be caged. It’s less expensive for city shelters to TNR feral cats than house them. Save the space for the kittens and friendly adults for adoption. I’ve been watching some of her videos….just somehow eases the shock of her loss. Maybe ridiculous. But seeing her smile, hearing her voice makes it seem better….somehow. She was special!
For some odd reason at 5 AM I am watching a bunch of vids on st Francis day , blessing of the animals. I must say this video is the best one. It really conveys the spirit st Francis with the animals. St Francis was a very prayerful person. He radiated peaceful ness that could be felt. This kind of thing attracts animals and all creatures. I dare to say, this peaceful radiation also attracted, bugs, creepy crawlies, rats and mice. He hated these creatures that were tormenting him when he slept outdoors. Ha! His fellow friars helped him sleep, clean up, care for animals. St Francis became blind, helpless in his last year or so. St Francis still maintained his nightly visions. He never spoke of this visions.
I am experiencing this right now with my two cats. I left for a couple of days for work. ( exactly two nights). Unfortunately, because I was in a hurry, one of my cats got lock in the closet. She was a traumatized but otherwise fine and happy when I found her. Nevertheless, the other cat that was not in the closet started hissing and attacking her. I am not sure what to do. I hoping this is not a long time situation. The two cats are bonded sisters. It makes me sad that my mistake cause my cat to become so frighten that it change her personality.
There is not a cat overpopulation in New York. There is however a giant human population problem in New York. Bad people, bad owners, bad treatment of cats, etc. Cats protect humankind against rodents. There is a massive rodent overpopulation in New York. (Humans being to discustingly not clean in their lives, and not enough cats to protect the society from all the rodents that humans filth attracts:( And the myth about you have to socialize a feral kitten before 8 weeks... after that it is too late.... that holds true in a society which treats cats horrible. But in societies where people adore cats... like Turkey, Italy, etc.... the feral cat population is usually very friendly and they are often almost as healthy as most usa pet cats. To give an example of how a society, which appriciates and loves cats actually looks like: - the feral cats are clean and healthy. - the populatin loves the cats. The cats get properly fed, petted, etc:) - the cats are not affraidvof humans. And the humans are not affraid of the cats. - not agressive cats:) you may get very tempted to pet and feel relaxed:)) - when its winter., when it gets too cold outside..... people have empathy for the cats... they open their shops and homes for the feral cats to be able to seek warmth from the outside cold.:) so much love all around:) - no rodent problems. The cats protect the city from rats and other vermin that spread diseases. Again: There is no cat overpopulation in New York. There is a humanity problem in New York.

The key word in that interview with Will from Flatbush Cats is "pain and suffering" that they go through living on the streets. Animals-especially cats that can potentially be placed in a "forever" home-should not suffer.
