I was worried and turned up the 2 step a little for that one lol. It was closer than it looks in the video, though. I think the only reason we stayed ahead was better weight and trans gearing.
These new Supras are Badass,not gonna lie…And this is from a mustang guy…Im a Vegas local and its tough to get fast times out here compared to being at sea level..Just in case other commenters say it s not fast…😂
Great little rig, I hope you still have the hard top. I wish they would bring back the roll cage and removable top as a 4 runner option. Im on my 4th 4 runner and I love em all. But for crawling the 80 series is still my baby.
The car has gone faster since this video, and has pretty substantial upgrades happening right now, but even where I assume it will be at early this year I think we’d still maybe only be mid-pack in the TX2K class we fit in, so I didn’t get an entry for March. We are planning on a built bottom end this summer and should be able to turn it up a lot after that, so maybe we will aim for FL2K in the fall or the next TX event.
Thanks man! It has in this video it had 4.88’s in the axles and the typical dual case setup with 4.7’s in the back case. Now I’ve switched to 5.29 in the axles since switching from e lockers to Detroits. The top is a canvas Softopper. I’m a big fan of that after wrestling with the heavy stock one so many times.

Even though I'VE never DRIVEN NONE OF the TOYOTA SUPRA'S I know that they all have that beauty of the 1st Toyota supra. It's just better. TOYOTA knows what there doing. THIS TOYOTA GR SUPRA is nothing like a BMW Z4. Is that BMW Z4 doing this !?????? We will see what the ( stalkers say when the all TOYOTA manufacturers Toyota GR SUPRA 3JZ ENGINE HIT this world. Agreed, stock for stock, supra is actually faster than its sister car the z4 believe it or not. Toyota went with pretty much the only manufacturer who makes turbo inline 6's cause reconfiguring the good ole 2jz to meet todays emissions standards wasnt worth the effort when they could partner with another company./
Thanks man! The car is pretty basic. P800, mani w/PI, trans, and an ethanol flex tune by Jeff Payn. The thing is still full weight with the OEM muffler and everything. I’m excited to see what it does next time out with a little less weight and some axle shafts in it.
@@brandonmcconkey Simply amazing, dude. Who built your trans and how much did it cost - if you don’t mind me asking? I’m getting one of these and to be able to run 9s and retain street ability, is my goal. The R35 was my dream for years but this car is so much more modern in just about every way. It’s sexier and it seems much cheaper to mod - unless I’m missing something…lol
@@TGUNNER777 I had Jack’s build the transmission, and if I remember correctly, it was $2,900 for the service and shipping was like 500-600 or so (I’m in Utah and they are in Colorado). The Supra is a pretty amazing value IMO. I was running easy 10s at high elevation for like $2,500 and drivability wasn’t affected in the slightest. The GTR is an absolute beast, but you are right, it’s aged a bit and everything is a little more expensive.
@@brandonmcconkey - That’s so cheap! I talked to one GT-R owner who paid Shep $30,000 to build his trans! He put down 1,200hp but still, that’s ridiculous compared to the Supra’s trans. Jack’s has one for $5,800 that holds up to 900 ft/lbs of torque. Titan also has a very similar set-up for the same money. One other thing, I love the interior! Looks like you’re in a fighter jet’s cockpit. The JBL stereo is supposed to be good as well. That with a 50/50 weight transfer…..it just seems like SUCH a well rounded car for the money.
For a.l those clowns that said the b58 is no good,the b58 is coming and seems to make big power easy,2jz is the king 6 but keep a eye out for this motor.
Here it’s a Pure 800 and port injection, but a stock transmission and axle shafts, so torque was turned way down. That’s why the 60’ was lazy. We just got a built transmission in it a couple weeks ago and turned it up more. I think it’s going to 60’ much better now.
@@brandonmcconkey ok, I have the same setup but I’m running E85. I do not have upgraded trans yet. I like seeing your progress. Hopefully more videos coming soon with the new trans?
