Uploader of mostly 4x4 and military vehicle videos. Most of the videos are from my late fathers collection. Also uploading plenty of other random things.
@@alwynvanwyk1851 perfectly well thank you, but not everybody understands the difference between 6x6 and 6x4 and 4x2 for instance so was clarifying, is this how you get off by pointing out errors to people on RU-vid to show your “ superiority” to people ?
Drove one for two and a half years in Singapore and Malayan Jungle BEST WAGON ive driven also had a winch attached l was in 59 Fld sqn Royal Engineers.
@@Chambers101 Was at the tank museum a couple of months ago, can’t remember seeing it but there again it’s quite an awesome place so there’s probably plenty I missed. Cheers for that.
I was a civilian driver for the army. I drove Bedford MK 4-tonners. and army coaches shuttling soldiers, airmen, Gurka's TA, Belgian soldiers, some navy personnel, and anybody else I was told to pick up. I also carried soldiers in the 4 tonners. I can honestly say I hated the Bedford MK, no power steering, only rear-wheel drive. I was bogged down many times on soft ground or snow.
you can keep your big hp give me gearing everytime I have had the big hp vehicles for recovery give me a super lo/ crawler gear everytime never fails on or off rosad
Great video, documenting this trial. It's Boxing Day 2022, and with my son, we've just watched the whole trial. Thanks for taking the time to upload this ... Thumbs Up! :)
takes me back to that does. The unmistakable sound of wheelspin in deep mud and the slightly knackered old land Rover engines steaming and smoking away. Far of days now. Glad I saw some of it 👍🍺🇬🇧
@@Chambers101 Series IIa, swb petrol. Military release with 235 80 16 General Grabbers! Remember Roger, with the Champ? We did the optional hill drop, vertical for some way, people videoed us. Good times. Nothing broke, but it did wear out brake shoes. What did you have? Rangie, Landy, or one of the marvellous Nivas? 👍🍺🇬🇧
I was in the maintenance dept of Scammell Lorries There were two factories in Tolpits Lane Watford, The 'top' Factory made the all the truck inc the Scarab, the other factory was about two mlies west that made the trailers for the Scarab . This was the early 60s, what wonderful machines were made there, Until they were bought under the wing of British Leyland, it all seamed to go down hill from there. Some thieving scumbag nicked the sign where the Factory stood, Opposite was The Highwayman Pub.. Was the pub named after the Highwayman Scammell.. . Happy days working there.
@@1stMrSceptical google says explorers were made in the 20s, i dont think so , pioneers were 30/40s and explores were after that im sure early 50s thanks
If you listen closely you will hear a constant engine tone thats because supwr crawler gear was engaged it will climb just about any bank in that gear it 8s all about not causing wheel slip with 6 wheel srive and supwr low it can take on sreeper than 1 in 3
Back in the 1970s I rode with the guy who used an Explorer to pull the Big Top trailer for an Irish circus. On the lions steep hills he would sometimes put a brick on the throttle and get out and walk.
@Jennifer Brien hey Jennifer that scammell is still alive and well today , and was restored , the truck was with fossetts circus in Ireland, I can send you pictures if you'd like to see it again
Blimey! I've just seen myself on someone else's RU-vid vid for the first time! I was playing there too, though I am on foot in this clip. I had to do a field repair on Natts' gearbox at another event around that time so that Chris Acock could compete. It brings back memories!
