John, you raised the bar for DIY videos across the board! This presentation has it all… how to, the background story, a fantastic bat house design, tool usage, a father/son project, application of personal safety devices (for you and your son), implementation strategy with Bat Valves, fantastic video coverage of the entire project, and The Batman sound track to boot!! One of the best DIY videos I’ve ever seen! 👍🏻🦇👏🏻
Recomendación, saquen el ventilador de techo y pongan uno en la pared o un aire para los chicos. Les quedo increíble, a los peques se ve que les encantó, sigan así. ❤❤❤❤
@@wizard_of_eyes I'm sorry to hear that. Keep up the hope. A water source such as a small to medium sized pond might help. Also look into bat gardens. They are a bunch of flowers herbs and plants that put off scents at night that attracts insects and in turn brings in the bats. Just a couple ideas for you. I'm going to try the same ideas myself.
Also, my condolences. Your mosquito population is going to skyrocket when you kick out the bats. Mine definitely did. I miss them for that reason only!
What is the white screen you used and is it metal or plastic ? What type nails or screws did you use with the screens ? ( I have the same bat situation )
I looked around Lowe’s for something suitable. It’s a plastic corner cover for doing drywall. Cheap, just a couple bucks. They were just some short screws I had on hand, nothing special.
That's pretty awesome. I like this design for my space, though instead of the full sized bed I'm probably going to either leave it open for play or a desk. This got the gears turning!
Still far cheaper than buying a prefabricated bunkbed. I can tear it out at any time. My kids are still young enough that we will use it for at least 5 more years. Also, what else was I supposed to do during COVID lockdown?? ؟
Hi, I’ve learned a lot from your video, thanks for sharing. May I ask if you are using untreated timber or treated? Would you have concern if using treated interior framing timber? Thanks.
Great build! Looking to build something similar, but I know it won't be as awesome! Did you ever end up adding a hand rail for the stairs? Seems it would be a safety/code issue. Again, great work!
My fiancé and I want to do something like this for our future kids (we want 3) and this was so entertaining and educative! Great job and your kids are so cute!
Great job! Which material did you put on top of the wood framing? MDF? Plywood? I am currently building a bunk bed and was going to drywall over but what you covered with look much better and easier.
I used plywood but MDF would have worked great as well. The plywood gives the structure stability (and durability). I worry that drywall wouldn’t be strong enough.
Sorry, I don’t have any plans. I just made the dimensions to fit the space. (Same amount of head space above each bed. Stairs are 19” wide. I left a couple inches of room around the edges of the mattresses to make it easier to change the sheets.)
very nice - If I build these I'll make a few changes - both beds would be full size - you can never have enough extra sleeping space !! Great job, I'm sure the boys are thrilled
