I have to say that I have a Giant frydek! Leaves are bigger then my head and it currently got 7 leaves. It surprised me that you struggle with spider mites on it cuz I never had a single pest on it and not a single white part ever browned... 'Watch me jinx myself 🙄' What I'm trying to say is that maybe it's just the genetics of this specific plant and I'd incourage you to try another one! It made me sad when you said youre never going to try another variegated alocasia 😮💨 *Sidenote* I also have a monstera albo that browns every leaf no matter what I do with it and I really dislike that plant 😑
I really hope that everything with your newborn child goes well and that he has already been born. Your videos are great. I spent 10 hours yesterday and probably another ten hours today, when I am finished watching. Thank you!
You have 100% sent me down the Rhipsalis rabbit hole! I think I'm loving them more than Philodendrons now! In the past 6mo, my Rhipsalis collection has now grown to about 30 species, and I am doing more and more research. I believe what you're calling Rhipsalis pentaptera is actually Rhipsalis micrantha ssp kerbergii, but I could be wrong. I have pentaptera and it seems to be longer, thicker, and deeper indentations or ridges.
You are a rockstar and adorable as you are expecting your child. <3 I love your videos!! Just found you today. I am going to make my way through your videos. I <3 hoyas, and that is what I grow, so when you chopped off the hoya's reaching strand I laughed out loud. I want to do that EACH time, but of course I leave them alone for peduncles. My hoya's are in my DIY pon and a really (really) chunky soil. I am trying to get to know each of my hoyas and when I realize which ones thrive in pon and which ones aren't thriving (when I recognize it) I switch to soil. My chunky soil has NO soil, but I have to say if I was a hoya I would want to do the nice chunky medium.
Your Hoya Mathilde is gorgeous. You can water it with a teeny amount of hydrogen peroxide, to get rid of some of the algae IF you want. My Mathilde is awesome on PON! But my LYI did NOT like it. I took it out and put it in the chunky mix.
I have a linearis that I love so much. It is in PON, I let it completely dry out. She hates wet roots. Hates it. So when the leaves are plump and sitting up, she is well watered. When she is starting to lay down the leaves, it is time to water it. Over watering is a big no-no (in my unprofessional experience. :-)
No you were right the first time, thrips is totally a lifestyle and I’ve been doing gardening/plants for over a decade and I’m a general hydroponics STAN! Cheap, effective, works in every grow medium.
I have the same pet peeve on social media influencers. Specially those who send DMs to engage on their contents but they will never engage on my posts just because I have lower number of likes and followers. Those are like the major EW for me.
I tried the no drainage and it's a no from me. I am trying to understand how in the world your pots are so clean and the media looks dry. I use biochar etc. in my potting and I don't think my plants liked being in that without air. Maybe I will try with a plant to test what the best media is to do it.
Omg😂squirrel and I don't read either, but I def watch lots of RU-vid plant and style videos....lol. Trust me I married a trumpet blower...it's the MOST annoying noise in the world🥴😫Love when you are both together. 🪴💚
I have an Anthurium Ace of Spade that come as a tissue culture 2 mths ago and it just doesn’t seem to be growing. I have it in fluval as well as my other TC’s that are growing great but this one just does not seem to be going anywhere. Is there anything you recommend that I should do?
Your boo bie cactus is growing thin because it’s a top cutting. It’s pretty normal for a cactus cutting to grow thinner. Myrtillocactus are actually vigorous growers. You can get a lot of growth per year, but they need a large pot and full sun. Your pot is way too small. Columnar cacti do need a large pot if you want them to grow fast. They also need water when they’re actively growing. You can get a solid foot of growth on a Myrtillocactus every year. Heat is also important. These can’t stand cold. They go dormant as soon as the temperatures drop.
2:20:21 seeing all these beautiful anthuriums makes me want to collect them again. I fell out of love of them but you’re making me love them again lol!
I saw another youtuber wash her plant, but she washed roots and all. She then put it in a bottle of water and let it grow and it was beautiful. I know you explained it, but I am still confused as to why you didn't wash the rest of the plant instead of throwing it away?
Regarding gloves: try looking for nitrile gloves. They are usually a tighter fit, and meant to be worn so they arent all crinkly. I use them for cooking as i have some sensory issues, and they are easier to work with than normal plastic gloves.
Could you tell me about that shelving unit behind you? I have this huge blank wall that I'm trying to avoid building custom shelving for a plant wall if I can purchase something instead.
I have one on my balcony and will not cut it until it hits my living room floor. I used to be cheap and would purchase cuttings and all died. I invested in two over priced plants from Etsy that died. Finally found an awesome grower. The plant was right below the pot, now it is at least 6 feet long. I also tried to make it climb, and it didn't do well at all but I also didn't use a moss pole. Nice and informative vid, and yes, they love showers. I tend to leave it outside in the rain, or fertilize it and allow it to get sun sun stress it since the colors are gorgeous.
Omg I’m watching this video for the first time since I’ve gone through most your content and was this video a hint on you having your baby? This is so sweet to watch
Wow. I was diagnosed at 41. Knowing put so much into perspective. I can relate so much. I took some of your tips and I’m already a better plant parent. Thank you so much for this video!! ❤
None of the sentences in your video made sense to me. There is much necessary unnecessary talk. I hope the matter of preference did not enter my algorithm.
36:16 I did the clear plant tags with clear labels and now they are all faded 🥹 so yeah I’m going back to old school and doing the white plant tags and markers 😂
