Foam is pretty cheap. Getting the body's made is like $5 for a bag of 6

So I’m guessing I can insert black, rubber legs through the body instead of putting the other ones on that they provide

Is this called The Abomination? Very thick for most clingers and not a huge fan of pre-fab stuff. Just more man-made crap that can end up in our rivers.

Hey.. thanks for posting this video. I am a newbie at fly tying. Shouldn't the legs go at the bottom?

I think this idea is great but feel certain we do not have these in the UK, we are so far behind America, I know some will maybe frown and say is it fly tying but to me if it catches fish then why not, thanks for the links of materials though.

I just cannot see why you go with this method over just buying a completed fly. You dont save any money this way. And I don’t how someone who tues for the enjoyment or creativity would get anything out of this.

Nothing “natural” about using artificial features for legs and back. Not my preference!

Great and informative video, thanks! May I ask, what type of thread did you use? I am making beadhead scuds in sizes 10 and 8, and the 140 Denier UTC makes the heads too bulky, but I am concerned 70 Denier will be too weak.

Any fly fisherman who use this kind of flies don't deserve any fish!

Nice job for me the problem is we don't have many hatches in that size. The March Brown is a #12 maybe #10 on some streams, then the Green Drake on the Delaware. But that is it.

Well done instructional video. Sorry, but it's simply too contemporary a tie for me. It does look very real though!

I'm curious...do these wings cast okay?....or do they have a tendency to "helicopter?"

Hi Corey. Sorry I haven’t kept in touch. Why don’t you put the legs on after putting a thing base of dubbing on and then wrapping the thorax dubbing between them. I would position the legs in a more accurate position. You wouldn’t get anymore flack for the Superglue if you did... I’ll email you soon.

Hi my Bud! I made some notes as I watched you work. You are a superb tyer, I’ll start with that. Take a wrap under those tails and place a tiny bit of head cement at the base of the tails, they will splay nicely and stay there. Also, to align the wire with the sides of the shank I use a pair of pliers and pinch the shank from front to back while holding the pliers level. The flat edges of the pliers force the wire to be equal on both sides and aligned properly. I have only 1 question..I thought you would have applied the legs after partially dubbing the thorax and then dubbed between the legs to cover the middle section that hold the legs, why didn’t you do that? Cheers my man.

Looks great and well done but normally the underbody on our local stoneflies are lighter on the bottom, not darker.

Great looking Frenchie Corey. I really like the way the body tapers on your fly. Most I've seen are a little too flat. This one looks meaty.
