Well I remembered another episode that's actually probably one of the more forgotten very special episodes a growing pains. It is entitled thank God it's Friday. In this episode Mike and his friend Bonner go to a party thinking, it's just a party but it turns out it's a cocaine party.
I don't know if this counts as a special episode, but the episode babble of the show so weird is the single best depiction of dyslexia that I have ever seen in media, and this is coming from someone who has dyslexia
I dont remember if you looked at it already, but a Peanuts special that handles a serious topic is "Why, Charlie Brown, Why?" It is my favorite special, and it's also a favorite of many.
In an episode of Full House "Under the Influence" where D.J. and Kimmy attend a party and Kimmy gets drunk. She insists on taking them home but D.J. tells her no. Towards the end she tells Kimmy her mom was killed in a car accident because of a drunk driver
There’s another Sesame Street episode that tackles death, I don’t know the title, but it’s where Elmo and his family deal with the death of Elmo’s uncle.
This is an adult show but I recommend episode 4 of Hazbin hotel, Masquerade. You find out that Angel is being physically abused by his boss. He’s taking drugs as a way to unwind. It gets even better when Husk tells him that he’s in a similar situation and basically telling him that it’s okay to be a “loser”
Some of those episodes are shocking and some are heartbreaking and saddening. Let’s start with Family Matters. Racism and police brutality and police corruption is still ongoing. So many black people were either seriously injured or murdered due to the police’s horrible and racist beliefs. I am so proud of Carl standing up for himself and his son against one racist police officer and the other cop is young who learned a serious lesson about respect to people. Full House has so many heartbreaking episodes like the death of Jesse’s grandfather who Michelle is attracted to. She made this beautiful popsicle stick house and when she learned the heartbreaking news about Jesse’s grandfather’s passing, she denied it, smashing the popsicle stick house and ran to her bedroom in tears. I know how Michelle feels. I lost my aunt that I am close to cancer before I graduated from high school and I lost two close and dear friends who taught me during my high school years. The episode in Punky Brewster breaks my heart. Why in God’s name would anyone hide in a refrigerator? Anyone won’t look in a refrigerator and find you no matter if it’s working or not. It’s not a place to hide. For the Dinosaurs episode, sexual harassment is a serious problem. Anyone has to stand up for themselves whenever someone harasses them. No one has the right to treat you in such horrible manner, no matter who especially it’s your boss. That’s so Raven is upsetting. There are some businesses keep doing the same things to black people and won’t hire them due to their racist beliefs. They don’t care about the black people’s skills and qualifications, they only care is hiring white people who had no skills and they rob from the businesses they were hired to which is ironic. Businesses should hire anyone who had no criminal history, excellent qualifications no matter the color of their skin.
Sabrina the teenage witch season 1 episode 23 - The Crucible, Sabrina and her classmate goes to Salem for recreation of the witch trails and shows how lies, deception and prejudice as She’s persecuted of being a witch
I definitely remember a lot of these growing up. I do have a suggestion though how about 7th Heaven there's like two episodes I remember. One of them was when Simon Camden while helping painting the school or something like that gets tricked into huffing paint. Or the one where Simon's friend's sister was in a gang
I can think of a couple of Fresh Prince of Bel Air episodes that would be a good fit for this series (I don’t remember the names of them): - The one where Will gets shot - The one where Carlton takes pills from Will’s locker and ends up in the hospital
One Full House episode that sticks out to me was when Stephanie finds out that a boy in her class is getting abused by his father but swears not to tell anyone. When she finally tells uncle Jessy the boy ends up having to go to a foster home. She gets upset and also blames herself but Jessy helps her understand that speaking up like she did was the right thing to keep the boy safe.
I've recently been watching a lot of reruns of the 1970s sitcom "The Partridge Family" and one episode that I thought was surprisingly ahead of its time was the season 2 episode "All's war in love and fairs" which addresses the serious wealth inequality between predominantly White American suburbs and Native American reservations.
Sesame street had an episode that delt with autism. Then there were the Little people big challenges specials that delt with things like parents in the military and in prison
A few episodes to note Fresh Prince of Bel Air episodea "The Harder They Fall" where Carlton eats a Marijuana laced cookie "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" where Will is accidentally shot & Carlton feeling guilty gets a gun. Facts of Life episode "The Rape" where Natalie (Mindy Cohn) is raped by an acquaintance. This was originally meant for the character Blair but when the actress refused they decided to give it to Mindy.
There was an episode of C.O.P.S. that dealt with drugs where the COPS and Crooks team up to take down a drug dealer. Very similar to the G.I. Joe episode you highlighted here.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: In the episode "One Bad Apple", Apple Bloom's cousin Babs Seed visits Ponyville from Manehatten, but she starts bullying the CMC relentlessly, even joining Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon in tormenting them. Fed up the CMC considered humiliating Babs as payback until Applejack informs them that her behavior stems from being bullied back in Manehatten and she became one herself to avoid being the victim. This leads to the CMC saving Babs from their planned prank and make amends along with Babs telling off Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon for their cruel attitude and returning to Manehatten to tell her sister about the bullying. (Though according to TV Tropes, "One Bad Apple" is considered a divisive episode because Babs Seed receives no punishment for her cruel behavior towards the CMC and she eventually reforms after the trio learn about her situation...)
I'm have more tv shows from live-action to cartoons: 1. Courage The Cowardly Dog, in the episode of 'The Mask', it's dealt with ab*se. 2. Being Mary Jane, in the episode 'Sparrow' that MJ's delete herself and Mary dealing with grief. 3. Degrassi The Next Generation, there 4 episodes, one: in 'Time Stand Still (season 4) part 1 & 2, it's dealt with bullying & gun vi0lence. Two: In episode of 'Pride' (season 3) part 1 & 2 it's dealt with coming out & hom0ph0bia, three: in the episode of 'When Doves Cry' (season 2) it's dealt with child ab*se from a parent and last but not least: in the episode of Accidents Will Happen (season 3) it's dealt with teen pregnancy & ab0rtion.
I don’t consider X-Men: Evolution as a Spinoff Babies show because the main characters in the show are teenagers as opposed to kids. The same thing goes with Batman Beyond and Young Justice. Those shows had teen characters, not kid characters.
Boy meets world where Cory and Mr. Fenny swap positions, and Cory believed that racism was no longer exists. Arthur when he first got glasses and some of his friends teased and bullied him. Arthur when the Tibble twins watched an age inappropriate show and played too rough causing DW to get hurt and had to get stitches. Arthur when some money disappeared and one of the characters can’t remember who was accused of stealing it. Arthur when George found out he was dyslexic. Arthur when I think her name was Jenna and she was invited to her first sleepover, and had a medical condition that caused her to still wet the bed. Arthur when Prunella first met Marina and was overly helpful because Marina is blind. Arthur I think Mr. Rogers stayed with Arthur and everyone teased him about it. Family matters when Laura try to get a black history class taught and it divided the school.
I love these videos since i think you are the only channel that does this. I would love to see the very special episodes come back for today's kids since these episodes helped kids understand adult topics in a way that didn't talk down to them. Wish there was a documentary about these episodes like how and why their began to why their ended.
For consideration for a future Part 5 or 6: •A Different World Season 5 Episode 14 "Cat's in the Cradle" - Ron and Dwayne go to a football game at another school and get into a fight with three white students (a fight that they helped instigate). While in the custody of campus security, both parties learn a lesson about bias and prejudice, a lesson I think more people need to learn today because nowadays this conversation is set up to be one sided. •Boy Meets World Season 4 Episode 21 "Cult Fiction" - Shawn is starting to become influenced by a cult and is only brought out of it when Mr. Turner has a motorcycle accident. •Boy Meets World Season 5 Episode 18 "If You Can't Be With the One You Love" - Shawn and Cory try alcohol while underage and Shawn started to develop a liking before learning that the reason Jack's mother left their father was because Chet Hunter was an alcoholic and Shawn is on the path to becoming one. •Boy Meets World Season 6 Episode 7 "Everyone Loves Stuart" - At this point, I realized how many special episodes were in Boy Meets World. Topanga is hit on by a popular professor while alone in her dorm room and Cory retaliates by punching him. This results in a disciplinary hearing, in which the professor tries to charm his way to a verdict, but the dean gives Cory the most lenient sentence allowed and then orders an investigation into the professor of find any similar actions. My headcanon sadly has it that Topanga was merely the latest in a series of incidents across multiple schools. •Full House Season 3 Episode 21 "Just Say No Way." - At a school party, DJ catches a group of boys drinking beer. She takes a can from them and gets beer spilled on her. When Jesse find her, he takes her home, believing his niece was drinking. Because DJ was in a dishonesty streak, none of the adults believe her until the boys fess up. Jesse has a heart-to-heart and explains he was scared because he knows people who drink and can't control themselves. •Full House Season 8 Episode 10 "Under the Influence" - DJ and Kimmy go to a college party where Kimmy gets very drunk. DJ then takes her home and in the arguments the next morning, we learn that Pam Tanner (the girl's mother) was killed by a drunk driver. •etc...
so I never watched Degrassi (either the original or whatever the current version is) but I heard that in I guess the OG that there was someone who brought a gun to the school?
Just discovered this channel today, and I like what I see so far! It's nice to see someone talk about Full House and not be snarky about it, at least, and you seem like a chill guy.
