When I lived in SA still, often went camping and overnight hiking at Injisuthi. The one camping trip early morning cooked a full english breakfast with mates. We wernt too hungry so we put a fly net over and went too the river for a bath... Got back and Baboons litterly levelled the campsite. Destroyed the breakfast 😂🤣🤣😂. Looked like a bomb had gone off😂😂. Lesson learned... Good times Great memories!!
Great video! A rinkhals is dark towards black without a lighter/yellow belly. A rinkhals is poisonous but very seldom lethal and it is a very timid snake that relies on an aggressive display for protection. That could be a brown-house snake or more likely a mole snake due to the light underside.
Thanks, I don't know my snakes that well. I did a google search and was the best match I could find. You seem to know your snakes! Thanks for watching.
I would be more inclined to think it was more than likely a Cape Cobra. Although they do have quite a colour variation they are known to be dark brown to golden brown with yellow underbelly.
Hi, I used a 60 liter pack. It was more that sufficient considering that you can get some food along the way, you don't have to carry all your food for the three days.
Hi, I'm actually going to make a video soon on how I made my chuck box. I'm not good at woodwork and do not have many tools. I made my chuck box during the first lock-down last year and it was a fun project as I had the time. Unfortunately I'm very busy at the moment and wont have time to make another one.
Glad you enjoyed the video, I suppose it depends on how fit you are. Its about 2,5 - 3 hrs each way. Plus some time at the top. Its 8km each way and gets quite steep near the top. Going up continuously for 8 km really works your leg muscles.
@@chrisharper5856 Thanks for the extra info. It looks ideal for a nice day hike. I believe you can even stay in a lodge at the top, but it's probably expensive and probably also often fully booked in advance
This vid inspired me to try and go lightweight . I did a hike to hole in wall in 2016 and bumped into Potso but I had another guide . Potso is a much better guide for sure.
Lightweight is definitely the way to go, but I find it hard to leave stuff behind:) My next camping trip is going to be on a small motorbike, so wont be able to take my camp kitchen.
Great stuff , did you manage to get the bag to Potso? And I need to go camp st lower injisuthi , how do I book a site at the campsite you're camping and can I also book for the lower injusuthi cave at the same place?
Hi, I booked through the national park. I think it is like a central booking system, but I'm not sure. Yes, Potso got his bag and sent me pics of himself using it. He was very grateful.
Hi, I'm not sure on the size, it is quite big. I bought it from Makro and its actually on special at the moment for about R500. I paid R700. It comes with 2 poles, I bought extra poles and stronger pegs. Its also very waterproof.
Hi, I built it during the first lock down. It was not complicated and I don't have many woodworking tools. I will be doing a video soon on how I made it.
@@ortiko Your channel is great, just subscribed. Most of the camping and hiking is done in nature and game reserves, so I think it is to protect both the dogs and wild animals.
Hey, My daughter and I want to do this with our 4 dogs. We have sold our house to move into our van and tour the South African coast starting May in Coffee Bay. Please can you private message me, I would like to find out some more information and contact Portso
I’ve been here too, it was such a beautiful experience. I’m off to The Garden Route on monday, we should totally consider syncing our travels, I notice you like the same areas as me.
Great video, how was your experience with the meals as a vegan. As a pescatarian, I had some regrets with not bringing enough of my own food because they did not really have something for me to eat, I lived on bread... and some starch (potatoes, pap and samp). but the bread was home made, it was delicious.
Babalwa Mtshawu thanks I'm busy editing day 2. I took too much food as I was worried, but I gave most of it away. I was happy eating simply. The bread was awesome. Day 3 we had steamed bread which was my favourite. Must have brought back a few memories for you.
