I do something similar with a Loricraft machine. A couple things I do differently are: 1. A rinse of the record surface after cleaning with distilled water. 2. Prop the record up vertically on its edge in a clean location for an hour or so before putting it in a new sleeve to be sure it is 100% dry. Thank you for this nice explanation and demonstration.
I’ve been using my Loricraft for about five years. I think it is a great machine for cleaning records, both old and new. It is very important to read and follow the instructions that come with the machines (I’ve seen many RU-vid folks showing the Loricraft machines used improperly). The machine is quiet enough to use while listening to music. Not for everyone as it requires user involvement as it is not automated. For me it’s been a wonderful machine. The Loricraft is durable if cared for per the instructions. Fantastic machines for the serious record lovers.
I’ve listened to the whole Evoke range and the Evoke 50’s are very good speakers as you mention but I have to say the Evoke 30’s ,which I now own, have a little more finesse and control over the 50’s personally. I also compared the Evoke 30 to the Contour 20i but I still preferred 30’s in every way hence my decision to buy them. 😊
I needed a storage case, but that package didn't cost $500. I was glad to help the Ukrainian economy , my card was charged and I am now just awaiting a package of what should be excellent headphones in the mail. I have had about five emails about how production is going and suppose my color choice will be limited to " kickstarter green". since no selection was offered upon ordering. one color is as good as another once they are on your head, anyway.
Just got one to step up my Hana ML to my Leben phono-stage. It’s absolutely fantastic right out of the gate. I haven’t even played with the settings yet. Absolutely fantastic piece of kit. 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
How about buying an Ortofon test record, play the 1 kHz tone, capture it with a sound card and Audacity free software. Show us the Audacity spectrum display so we can see the 2nd harmonic distortion of a cartridge. That would be valuable. Just reading the catalog info is not helpful. I can read the Grado website myself. Grado has zero specifications for these. No stylus tip radius value. Who would pay $300 for an elliptical stylus? That's ridiculous. It very likely has a .4 Mil radius and very high distortion. No specs so who knows. if you would measure it, we would all know. I'm guessing it will have 1 % distortion on that 1 kHz 5 cm/s track. Yeah, that's right 1%.
I offer this loaner program for people who are interested in trying and possibly purchasing the product... it is a service to the audiophile community so I don't understand your reply. Todd
A pond WARNING to anyone planning to purchase products from this "company"! They are SCAMMERS, they sent me defective goods (Verum 1 with a broken right ear driver and non-working cable) They DEMANDED (!) from me a video in which I condemn the actions of the rysski army and their attack on Ukraine and shortly after my question they stopped responding to messages (while responding to other people with a different e-mail address)! The warranty is non-existent, they DO NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY at all, the person has a disgusting attitude full of racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and God knows what else! This person has been BANNED ON 3 (YES, THREE!) audio-related forums for MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF FRAUD, INSULTS, RACISM, AND SO ON. Please, use Google to find more info on that scammer. I strongly recommend to AVOID THEM AND DO NOT SUPPORT THEIR SCUMMY ACTIONS! DONATE TO THE UKRAINIAN ARMY DIRECTLY INSTEAD! Their e-mails usually are: Verum audio <verum.headphones gmail> marina isikova <marina.isikova gmail> Please upvote for other people to see! And no, I am not rysski and do not live there either. I just think that for this behavior people should go to jail instead. And when the war is over, a lawsuit will be filed against him and his company.
The E-280 has always been a low margin amp and one that Accuphase offers at their lowest price possible. The current price is ($6995) and it was not reduced when the rest of the line was lowered . Almost every Accuphase product in the USA had its price reduced a while back but the E-280 remained the same. It is one awesome integrated amp and we feel worth the coin!
TEAC is an acronym for Tokyo Electro Acoustics Company and can pronounced as you like, but in Japan by the company and here in the USA by the importers, it is pronounced TEE ACK. We don't care what you call it as long as you buy it...
2.0 system uses Bryston analog Squared integrated amp. 5.1 uses Lexicon power amp with Parasound preamp with Marantz AV 7700 receiver for surround mode
People get bent about the prices on higher end audio, and it can be expensive. But if you look at what some of the vintage stuff is going for now and look at what it went for when new and adjust for inflation the prices aren't really different. I have a Yamaha A-S301 integrated amp and an A-S3200 integrated amp. They both pretty much do the same thing, but one cost $350 and the other $8,000. If you compare the components and build quality it's easy to see where the money went. Using an inflation calculator that $8,000 in 1975 dollars would have been $1,378.02 with an inflation rate of 82.8%. Now $1,378 is a lot for many now, so imagine what it was like back then. I know there was no way in hell I could have afforded that back then, lol. Anyway look at some of the coverage of the recent Axpona if you want to see some really outrageously expensive and downright idiotic equipment that makes the Accuphase look like a real bargain.
Very nice integrated. But still way too expensive in the U.S. market. $7,000 has some extremely competent brands in that range. That being said. I definitely want one for the right price.
Here's one you didn't know: In Japan Specialty Shops like Fuji Accoustic in Shizuoka always made fun of Accuphase. They'd call it Akirita-phase. Akirita meaning cut. My Accuphase power amp burned up one day. It WAS a great sounding amp when paired with a conrad-johnson PV3 tube pre. The matching Accuphase Pre amp was not much better than the Pioneer amp I had at the time.
