I don’t have the 1080 but I love these. Been working on my written review this weekend for the website then I’ll get the video review out asap. It’s got a lot of cushion and some get up and go as well. I won’t use them for interval sessions but for long runs and even some tempo runs they are awesome!
Testing out the Runclub vest, one of the few that comes in XXL. So far I like it. It does run small though, so the XXL is snug, but doesn’t bounce around. Materials seem decent as well. Hard to beat the price too.
I’ve only had one run so far, but did bridge repeats in them before I started recording and then ran easy during the recording of the video. It has a lot of versatility in it.
I dig it! It feels nice and smooth. Has plenty of pop and cushion. Definitely a huge upgrade. Fit is tighter than the Cielo x1, though not unpleasant. Completely different than Mach x1.
Great review! I noticed that you have also tried the Hyperion Max 2. I have both and found them to be very similar to the point where I might sell my Brooks. What are your thoughts when comparing the two?
I am a big fan of both, though for different reasons. For someone my size the superblast makes a better long run shoe I think, especially as I move through the training blocks. When it comes to tempo work, I think they are both fantastic, and do the job equally as well.
Keep it up man. Consistency and nutrition is the key. I’ve ran over 400 miles in the last 4.5 months and I’ve lost 40 pounds. And it’s not the weight that’s most important, it’s our overall health. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see a ton of results all at once. If you eat right, exercise and stay consistent, you’ll feel 10 years younger in 6 months. I guarantee it!! You got this man 🙏
Thumbs up for the very interesting video. You address everything that is relevant. I was looking for a daily trainer and could find one here. It would also be time to revive my lost love for Hoka. I found the last models all just average. But I think it's particularly great that you're testing the alternative uses. Very good eye for the essentials. And above all, chapeu for the great choice of colors. keep it up. 😉✌️
It has more cushion than either the eclipse or I’m guessing you meant the Skyflow. Its closest comparison to other shoes would be Asics Superblast. Direct comparisons to eclipse: it has more cushion, less in shoe volume, bouncier, softer and quieter (no torque plate to squeak). Direct comparison to Skyflow: softer, similar responsiveness, similar in shoe volume.
I bought the NB Fresh More V5. Do you think the cushioning and softness of the Puma MagMax are much better than the NB Fresh More V5? Or ASICS SUPERBLAST ? Thank you.
I’d say that these are all in the same category for sure. Each shoe approaches the cushion in a slightly different way, I was actually surprised by the fact that the More feels like it wants to go faster during runs. I expected it to fully be a recovery shoe but it’s got some get up and go when you want to. I don’t think you have a bad choice between the three.
@@SpiritOfRunning Thank you. I have been trying to find shoes with the best shock absorption and soft comfort running shoes. I had the NB 1080 V13, Fresh More 5, Nike Invincible 3 , NB SC Trainer 2 ,and Hoka Bondi 7. But I still feel that the cushioning and softness are not sufficient.
I feel like these two are on such different levels. The midsole materials are totally different. The Hyperion Max 2 wants to go fast but you can run easy in it. The Ghost Max 2 wants to be an easy long run shoe in that you can do pickups in but prefers to settle in if that makes sense.
I agree, I think they each have tendencies toward one direction or the other and can do both, but if you have the budget, I love pairing ghost max 2 with Hyperion max 2 or likewise with the Hoka models. Also gives shoes time to dry out down here in the Houston heat.
@SpiritOfRunning thank you! I love the nitro foam and SB. On my longrun today I confirmed that the Nimbus bottoms out too much under my weight to be comfortable after 4 miles because of my running form and toe off. Thank you. I will be wording my pair of MM today
I would say this is definitely Puma making a statement on the supermax cushion scene! From a cushion perspective it’s in line with Asics Superblast or New Balance More. It’s got a really nice bouncy feel. First run was an easy hr run so not sure how it does at speed, but I think it’s gonna have a lot of versatility based on the short pickup I did toward the end.
I’m using the Hover X1 for a majority of my in run videos. I do use a GoPro for some closer footage and for the seated reviews too. Big fan of the Hover though, it pilots itself and has some really cool settings and features!
Very nice 😊 Can you say how the Deviate Nitro 3 Elite differs from its predecessor? I own version 1 and am very satisfied. It's actually my softest speed shoe.
It’s a great shoe! 361 has always made quality shoes but they tended to feel a little clunky to me. I think this shoe competes well with the Clifton, Novablast and others in the same category.
Hey Ben, I came across your channel by chance while looking for a review of Superblast 2. I like your reviews, the structure and the quality. You can tell that you are passionate about it. Please keep it up. I am very exciting to see more.
Just got these last week and love them. So much bouncy cushion. For some reason, I could pick up the pace a little too, probably because the slight rocker geometry. Great shoe!
I’m still trying to figure the shoe out. It uses skyward x geometry with the supercritical foam of the Mach 6. I know I like it but finding the best words is proving difficult.
