Great review. i have the rebel v3 and loved it for doing hiit/tempo runs... but for longer runs the forefoot was very thin for me being 100kg and my favorite shoe now is the 1080v13 because of it softness/bounce/comfort! I also just got the rebel v4 and waiting delivery this week.. Let us know how it goes after 100miles since some people complain about the shoe going flat :( i hope not!

It would be remissed if I didn't ask how this shoe compares to the Topo Cyclone 2 since they share some of the same similarities. I'm 215 lbs. and a forefoot striker. The Topo Cyclone 2 is one of my all-time favorite daily trainers. I got the NB Rebel V3 for half price but ended up returning them because the Cyclone 2 was just superior for me in every way. I tried on the Rebel 4 and ran in them inside the store. Definitely different and better suited for me than the Rebel 3. But can they hang with my beloved Cyclone 2 and the smile they bring to my face every time I run in them.

Man, that’s a tough one. I think that you’re right, there are some similarities, but a few thoughts. The Rebel is made with a supercritical foam, which I really enjoy running in, but it isn’t peba, so the bounce is different. The arch is much more prominent in this version so you probably break even there. The shape is gonna be huge. The toe box in the cyclone is wide open and roomy, and the toe box in the new balance while wider than v3, is still a bit shallow. As much as I wanna say you’d love it, I think the cyclone might be your shoe over the rebel.

@SpiritOfRunning Thank you for your opinion. I can't wait for the Topo Spector 2 to come out in August. With a 100% pebax and being lighter than 8 oz. in a size 9 and a 37/32 stack with no plate, it will be interesting to see if Topo can pull this off without stability issues. The 100% pebax Cyclone 2 seems to be stable enough for me due to its wide base and low stack.
