This is a channel dedicated to my hobbies, primarily focused on electric fans. I enjoy collecting fans of all types and eras: antique, vintage and new. Here you will find a wide variety of videos showcasing fans, ranging from: demonstrations, unboxings and in-depth product reviews, to restorations, DIY projects and more! There are also occasional contents on my other hobbies and topics of interest.
I’m guessing it was both for appearance and easy of manufacturing, since brass is a softer metal. Weight certainly could’ve been a factor too. Having heavy steel blades would induce more stress on the motor and bearings.
Good video SuperFanMan the only ones sold out here in California are the black model and the white model only no royal blue ones but i enjoyed seeing this royal blue version of the fan.
Did not know they did them in so many colours but those extra colours I do find it to be quite nicer looking compared to other modern fans. Even here you only really get them in black unless you get one from another brand, and even other brands like ansio I believe don't sell the white ones anymore.
I agree! Adding more colour options is such a simple update but can give the fan a nice new look. Black and white fans still are the most popular since they're more neutral.
Honeywell didn't really go crazy with the release of the coloured versions, so I think they flew under the radar for a lot of fan collectors. I'm pretty sure a few US retailers sell the coloured versions. Black and white still seem to be the most popular.
There are a few other videos I saw on the colourful HT-900s, but those all seem to be the previous version of it that has a plain concave badge. Honeywell seems to have brought back the original badge design with the 5 dimples around the logo. So I guess you could say this video is the first one with this new HT-900.
Yeah I haven't seen these before either, but mainly because I'm in Canada, where the coloured ones aren't sold at all. I think only certain US retailers sell the coloured fans. Target being one of them.
It's your typical HT-900 with the only thing that is new being the colour. Though these are not as powerful as the older Honeywell HT-800 fans, I still have immense respect for what they have accomplished.
Couldn't agree more! Honestly I think the HT-900 was the right move for Honeywell. Even though the HT-800 was more powerful, the noise level is unbearable in most household use cases. The HT-900 still packs a good amount of power for a small fan, while being more reasonable with the noise.
Thank you. I was thinking about buying this fan, great review. How does it compare noise wise with the more expensive quietest series? Do any Honeywell fans use brushless motors?
It's a bit hard to compare, since the Quietset series fans are larger. For its size, this fan does really well, but the Quietset fans move more air with about the same noise level. Most Honeywell fans use AC induction motors, which are technically brushless, but they are not the same as DC brushless motors that found in newer fans that aim to be more energy efficient. Most fans with DC brushless motors will proudly tout about them on the box and on their websites.
Maybe, it looks like the blue used to be more of a pastel baby blue, but this one is more vibrant. I think there bigger model is the HT-908. Not sure if that comes in multiple colours.
I agree! The coloured Honeywells were a pretty quiet release from a few years ago. The Target my parents stopped by had the blue, purple and orange, although Honeywell seems to offer these in a few more colour options. Blue was my favourite of the bunch lol.
I inherited my sister’s fan when she moved. It was so dirty, she was going to trash it. I followed your video & now my fan Is like NEW. I’m a 76 yr old grandma. 😊
I still use this thing as my main fan. It is starting to die out though. It was probably used for the past (I'd say) 25 years. It was fixed 2 times or so but mine is finally starting t die again and I feel like it's on its last legs. (every 10 mins, the thing sounds like a UFO for 10-20 secs)
I'm thinking it just needs to be oiled! I have a video showing most of the disassembly procedure that may help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ADYZ3tVVvjo.htmlsi=HNCeLUHXxpgJJeYX A few drops of oil will keep the fan going for years. These Super fans are really hardy and won't give up easily.
Great channel. I have a Meaco fan with a brushless motor. It is making loud noises like something is rubbing together. I think the bearings need lubricating, but when I take the motor out it seems to be a sealed unit. I can’t see how to get inside. Any ideas what’s wrong or what I should do? Thank you
Thank you! I'm not familiar with that particular fan, so I'm not sure what type of bearing it has. Most motors can be taken apart even if they have a totally-enclosed design. If it has ball bearings, they will need to be replaced. Sleeve bearings can be oiled. I would say try running the fan with the blades removed. Sometimes the blades can rub against the shroud and make a racket. If the noise is still there, the bearings likely do need attention. Feel free to ask any questions that come up!
Last black one looks like shark fins. I have the original Lincoln 9" fan, broke into it to clean it out, and wondered what parts in particular, I could oil. Wish you would show that on your videos. I've started buying other vintage fans too; found two 1960s Lakewood JCPenney's fans on stands with wheels. Paid $25 for two of them, excellent condition! Would love to see a video on that particular fan & motor, how to oil it etc. Can't believe I'm a female that has become obsessed with fans. I've become a fan of your fan content. 😂❤🎉
Thank you! Fans are surprisingly addictive once you fall into the rabbit hole, especially vintage fans! I don't have the exact JCPenney fan, but a fellow fan collector has a video on servicing his: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fTdqwwHpY4Q.htmlsi=Y1kJGCzyv9zod6N3
These older ones move much more air, but are that much noisier. I think the newer HT900 series fans are better suited for most household use. The noise level on the older HT800 series fans can be excessive.
