Neat. The AC induction motor makes these more durable, reliable and long lasting. Spin down time is also quite impressive. Overall, great fan from Holmes.
Agreed! I personally own four of these little AC 4” fans, and I’d say this is the best out of them. The Lakewood HV-4 would normally take first place, but my HV-4 is a different story lol.
good video I'm Suprise to still see this one have the ac motor in it. Lakewood started these little 4 Inch ones back in the day most of the ones i have has the dc motor however i do have some that do have the ac motor still i enjoyed the video
Had one of these and was absolutely in love until it quit working. That said, I know it was probably a short and fixable had I know what I was doing. Was a super sturdy fan yet inexpensive. This fan is actually what sent me on my fan journey. I think I'm on fan 4 or 5. I'm looking for something not only to keep me cool... but the PERFECT nighttime fan sound. I do have a retro vornado. I love it as well, but I want the air to hit me directly, especially when everyone else in the house is freezing 🙄 and I'm burning up. I do live in the south, so it's hot and humid the majority of the year. Would appreciate any suggestions
Sure! Interestingly, Vornado fans are actually some of the best fans if you need direct, focused airflow and good white noise. Most traditional table fans tend to spread out the air. Vornado fans do tend to be one the more expensive side, so if that’s a concern, there are less expensive alternatives. Look for fans that have a shrouded design with spiral front grilles. Some examples that come to my mind are the Honeywell HT-900 and the AmazonBasics air circulator fan. Hope it helps!
@TheSuperFanMan I've actually been obsessed with a dad was gifted a few years back, which was purchased on QVC. Stupidly, I purchased what appeared to be the same fan on QVC. I actually assumed it was the same fan because when I searched google with that specific fan, QVC popped up with one that appeared to be the correct one.. It just looked like... maybe a newer model or updated version. I was in such a hurry to have it...I didn't even think twice and ordered it immediately. Fast forward to last week when it arrived I noticed the plastic was cheap, but I ignored it because it put out a lot of air and it did the job...until a couple days ago when it started slowing down😑. To top it off, the plastic cracked when it fell over because, of course, it would never stand up straight. Well, yesterday I just happened to be at my parents' house, so I decided to look at his fan more closely and determine what was so different. I realized it said Holmes!! Which immediately I thought....hey that's the same brand as that amazing little black fan I had! Honestly, I'd forgotten about it until I saw this video. Then it hit me... The fan I ordered from QVC was a flipping knock-off😖😤 The fan I wanted was the Holmes 12 inch Blizzard fan with a remote... which they no longer make. Currently, they make an 8 inch digital Blizzard fan, which appears to have great reviews, but idk what I'll decide on. Your videos helped me realize what details I should be paying attention to when looking for a fan...so thank you.
You’re very welcome! There are so many knockoff products these days, some good, others not so much. Actually, pretty much all air circulator style fans (shrouded fan with spiral grilles) are copycats of Vornado fans! But it’s become so prevalent that they don’t seem like knockoffs anymore. I’m not too familiar with the Holmes blizzard fan, but it does appear to be well received. Holmes generally makes good products. I personally like to go for fans without digital components because they’re less likely to malfunction on the long run, but I guess that also means you don’t have the convenience of remote controls lol. Glad I could help! Cheers!
