I actually ran into mike a few years ago (2019) at a massive attack show in LA, I will say he's a proper nice guy posed for photos with people was talking to them etc, Anyway one of the things he said he admired about MA was that how as long as the core of the band were onstage and its done in a legit way people accept it as a massive attack performance, but MA also use session members (similar to lp in that only 3 of the og members are touring) etc, I wonder if he's trying a similar thing with Linkin park, its cool af if he is, its a continuation not a nostalgia band.
I've been listening to this song on a loop since it was first announced, and I feel exactly the same everytime I listen to it. I can't exactly find a way to describe the way it makes me feel, but it's somewhere between joy and pain. I feel like a great description is that it reminds me of a scene from a show called Madmen. The main character named Don Draper is pitching an ad for Kodak's Carousel. “Nostalgia” Don says, “it’s delicate but potent. In Greek, ‘nostalgia’ literally means ‘the pain from an old wound’. It’s not called the wheel, it’s called the carousel. It lets us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home.” Maybe this doesn't make sense in context to anyone but me, but man, it describes how I feel everytime I hit Rewind and Play again. I'm truly looking forward to the new album and having this band's sound in the world again.
"I could hear Chester". Me too. Sure this have some logical explanation, but I couldn't find yet. Same thing when I heard the song "Psychotic Break" from Jerry Cantrell; I could hear Layne Staley, but he was already dead at that time of recordings.
5:36 I cry like a baby every time... For me it's not about Chester, this part catapult me back in time to high school, when everything was just good and way happier, than these times. It's a nostalgia trainride back to the golden age, when everything was so hopeful and cheerful, I was the king of the world.
ACCEPTANCE is the last stage of grief....🤧 LP are back!!! 🖤 And no...shes not Chester...its been 7 years and the band took the time and now they are back!!! This brings me back to old school LP
I had the same reaction than you, watched the 1 hour show also and it brought me back in time. Can't wait to rediscover Linkin Park back again in October at the Album release.. Great Video, thanks!
It took a long time for Linkin Park to recover after Chester's departure, no one could replace Chester Bennington's position, Welcome back to the New Era,,
Dude had me too 😢 I kind of heard or felt Chester‘s voice in her voice the moment she kicked in without her even trying ❤ That moment was a crazy emotional rollercoaster. I was crying and cheering and headbanging and it felt so right ❤️🔥
Don't be sorry man. You're a genuine LP fan & I'm with you, we OGs welcome Emily in the family & support Mike & the boys in their new format. & let us not overlook Rob Bourdon the band's original drummer, who respectfully chose not to go on without Chester. He was replaced by Colin Brittain. Long live Linkin Park..
I FELT THE SAME THING! it really did sound like chester at that one part.... and ive seen on one other reaction video she said the same thing as you bro!
when I heard them for the first time with Emily I came in during the live stream and started crying as soon as I heard Numb and started smiling and getting excited with the rest of the stream, then heard their new song here and started tearing up again... I grew up with LP in my life during a very hard time in my childhood, finding out and losing family to cancer and ending up in foster care at 14... their music helped in some major ways to break down some walls emotionally for teenage me... When Chester passed it was like losing another family member, it hurt like crazy... to see them return with Emily, I'm so damn excited, SO DAMN ready for new LP music... No one replaces Chester, but I am damn sure he's smiling from wherever he is at the fact his band didn't let his loss end their run AND smiling because of their pick for vocalist because she's damn good. I love bands like Evanesence, like Flyleaf, Paramore, Halestorm, etc. I think this new era of LP is going to kill it as a woman vocal-led band.
Life has many ups and downs. We are blessed to have so many talented people to help share thier story and passion through music to relate to. It shows we are all not alone. Congratulations on your strength against all that adversity. I'm looking forward to the new LP aswell!
@@scorps0326 Thank you, I appriciate that and your response... its been hard but I've made it through! I'm in a better spot in my life now and just to see LP again, to see Mike smiling again like he was in the live they did, its such an amazing experience to be on the other side of everything and see them come through too.
YO SENTI LO MISMO SE ME FUERON LAS LAGRIMAS , LP ES LP Y SUENA COMO LP ASI NO ESTE CHESTER , ESTA MUJER LE RINDE HOMENAJE. PERFECTO ESTE ES OTRA ETAPA DE LP. LA NUEVA ERA .
Ykw,** I too heard his voice in her emotions, obviously the band taught her chester's vocal techniques etc. but I also believe that he is channeling through her voice THIS IS HIS BAND AND WILL ALWAYS BE he is always going to be the true spirit of Linkin Park, Emily is amazing in her own terms there** is nothing to compare. LP4L haha!!
Man, Sorry for my English, Im From Brazil, but I stop to see a reaction of LP fans and after see your I can feel The respect for Chester, after all, Chester is unique! And I can see that u like me and other true fans understand that its a new begining for The Band and Emilly is really good! I drop some tears of course seeing u felling The essense of Chester in It .Great Man! And congratulations! So...LP are Back and Chester was gonna be Proud of It! Lets Go for a New Era! Welcome Emilly!
I’ve played in a heck of a lot of bands both playing bass and vocals. I 100% agree that when you draw from a place when you feel those emotions your music goes to another level that is unachievable any other way. It becomes unique and tailored to you.
Emily in this song asks fans to accept her as part of the family. Chester would be proud of the voice change... and it all sounds very Linkin Park... thanks for all this!...
Hi i really like your content if you continue playing space marine i will subscribe on the next video and i will wait for your next video (And make sure to keep me updated as well)
I'm with you there man, I cry everytime. Every single time she lets out the scream, it's hearing Chester, but it's also hearing something new. I'm so proud of her, and of the band and so thankful for being able to enjoy their music and see their legacy grow for decades more!
I feel you man. The fact that they brought her in instead of another guy trying to sound like Chester is not only a great move from getting back out there but it feels more natural and om her voice fits so great! It's not Chester but it still feels like it... I also grew up with Hybrid Theory as well and man... this hits hard in a good way! But... oh how I would have loved to have a mashup with her and Chester in older songs. I really hope somebody could create that.
Thanks for the video.. I totally understand you. Yesterday I took 2 hours to listen to everything that has come out. The new Ep and all of them live. Emily is just perfect for these LP. Another Chester would never have held up to the comparison. But Emily is different, she pushes spectacularly even in the live stream. I was impressed to hear her in crawling and one step closer. Obviously I spent the 2 hours constantly in tears. I can't wait to hear the new album ❤
