Hey Just came across your tutorial This drive system is same as the Craftsman utility mower. They over engineered both with too many pulleys and springs. Most parts are discontinued and obsolete. Craftsman does this ten year mark they discontinue parts then call them obsolete I’m a small engine tech fix and flip I found one of these in excellent shape. I’m thinking of buying it but don’t want to waste money if I can’t find parts if I happen to need for a sale. Nice tutorial
Thanks for taking the time to comment and subscribe it really helps.. your best bet for finding parts would be ebay for sure. I often find what I need there for this type of machine. I also have a local mower junkyard which comes in handy. I am actively looking for another one of these as the videos have been successful and people have other questions on them.. but no joy so far on finding another. Thankfully there are not too many parts on them to go bad or break. I donated this one to a local church after fixing it up.
I have a 1997 Cub Cadet Z48 that will click when you turn key but wont start. Replaced battery, replaced starter and solenoid, same thing. The weird thing is if I put a battery charger on battery and let it charge for 10 plus minutes it will start. Again battery is brand new and fully charged.
I've been working on an 18 yr old Bolens, had valve trouble (would get 'stuck' turning over) then sat for 5 years. Adjusted valves, would only start w/some carb cleaner & run for a couple seconds. Cleaned the carb, started but was backfiring. You nailed it! I guess didn't adjust the exhaust valve, it was big time loose. After adjusting, it sounded like a new engine! Have an unrelated (I think) issue w/idle fluctuating, but that's for another discussion. Thanks man!
Glad my video helped.. always happy to hear it.. if it's surging when running uts usually a clogged jet in the carb.. I often have to clean a carb two times or more to get it right.. look for a specific vid on your carb so u don't miss anything. I usually just buy new carb for $20 these days
Noted re: the carb. It was bad, this gel-like substance in the bowl. I'll clean it again, but like you said I can't believe how cheap new carbs are! Found mine for $20. Also, in the past I was using the Top Dead Center method for positioning the valves. Didn't have to! Used your method and from now on that's the way to go.
I am glad you found me and thankful for the fact that you subscribed.. tell your friend thanks as well. I unfortunately don't have a carb video on this beast because it never needed any carb work. There are small subtle differences in carbs across many machines.. but the basics of cleaning and replacing are 90% the same. you can watch just about any video on riding mowers or zero turns and figure it out pretty easy. they pretty much all remove the same way and taking them apart is pretty much the same across the board. Sorry I couldn't be of more help
I have been fussing and fighting with my L130 for a month (It sat for 3 years or so). Anyway, I did continuity tests on all the saftey switches, charged and recharged the battery, then finally replaced the starter solenoid/motor, and the damn thing still would not crank. Well, after watching this video, I discovered that the relay going from the battery to the solenoid had 12.6V, but the relay from the switch to the solenoid is exactly 0.0V. I tried that trick you did by drawing current directly from the battery to the terminal for the switch and Viola! It cranked. So long story short, this video helped me drill down the problem to bad wiring, now I just need to figure out how where its screwed up, which should't take long. Thank you! This video was exactly the tutorial I needed!
Your comment gave my the chicken lol goose bumps.. its always a treat to hear that my videos helped someone figure out their issues and track them.. I am so proud of you for researching and not giving up and thankful I could be on the list of vids or people that helped you fix it. Keep up the good work and thanks for letting me know and for subscribing
yeah could be anything from a fuse to a bad solenoid to a bad battery connection or even a safety switch that went bad in the seat or the brake or other spots.. let me know what you find.. usually after fuses I try jumping the solenoid with a wire straight to the battery and then jumper cables from the battery to the starter.. to verify which it is..
@@wallyyuriy8912 if you jump solenoid and it cranks.. you know its the solenoid.. I take it your jumping it with a screw driver or pliers.. easy enough to troubleshoot.. solenoids are cheap .. proud of you for figuring it out
@@MunkyWrench thanks. But wouldn’t there still be a possibility of one of the safety switches are not functioning properly. And could the ignition switch itself be the culprit still..?
@wallyyuriy8912 if u turn the key to the run position. Not to trip the starter but the middle run position.. jump the solenoid and if the machine starts.. it can't be anything else but the solenoid.. if a safety switch or the ignition was bad it wouldn't start.. the only way to check the key switch is with a test light or multimeter .. but 95% of the time uts the solenoid.. so if it starts by jumping it.. replace it and u should be golden
RU-vid has this kewl new feature .. you prolly haven't heard of it.. but it allows you to do 2 great things.. one you can skip around the video and find the part you want.. or 2.. go somewhere else.. my videos are for 1st time mechanics that know nothing and I get hundreds of people thanking me for my detail and explanation so again go elsewhere I don't need troll comments and if you watch my videos you will know I dont give a f#ck
I heard that John Deere is firing a lot of workers and moving it operation to Mexico next year, not sure they deserve my loyalty anymore. Still a good video. Thank You...
Well shotguns are great for home defense. But I think yours is way to long to be clearing a house at night. I have a shorter one semi auto. Yes I agree the racking of a pump shotgun is menacing. But if your breaking into my house the last thing you will hear is a boom. Then it’s up to god to decide.
the shortest legal barrel in my state is 18 inches and most sold are 18.5 inch barrel.. mine is 20 inch barrel so in my thoughts.. the extra 1.5 inch is not enough to stop me from having it considering its 7 + 1 instead of the standard 5 + 1... I can live with an extra inch and a half.. I am adding a tactical stock with folding stock to shorten it further without changing its capabilities
@@MunkyWrench look into the vrf-14 no stock. Semi auto with 5, 19 round mags or if your a real bad shot or scared of a group of people entering your home they have drums that go up to 50 rds I believe!
Good to see you as always.. gonna do a live stream next saturday and give free channel memberships to whoever shows up so hope to see you there so you have access to members only vids
I'm have a runs for a 10 mins and dies and won't stay running after that. And the low fuel light is on and it is full. Any ideas it only has 32 hours ???
there are a few reasons this can happen .. if the gas cap has clogged and won't vent air it will cause a vacuum and stop the flow of fuel. if the fuel lines are old it will stop the flow of fuel by collapsing.. if the fuel pump is going bad it would stop fuel.. first thing I would do is let it run in a safe area until it dies on its own.. then remove the carb bowl and see if it dry.. if no fuel in the bowl then you know its a fuel issue.. check those things.. it also could be a spark issue.. if magneto is going bad , when it heats up with use the spark will fail.. if you have a spark checker put it on then start the machine and watch it.. when it starts to die you will see the spark flicker then go away.. those are the main things to check .. let me know if you need details on any of those things and keep me informed.. I am here to help you go through everything til you find the problem
i cant type links but if you type this into amazon you will find them (Replacement Yoke Bushing M167267 Fits John Deere Ztrak Z235 Z255 Z335E Z355E Z335M Z345M Z345R Lawn Mowers (Set of 6)
not stupid at all .. I always forget if its 500 or 5000.. but its 5 thousands 0.005 ... hint its almost the smallest thinnest one you can get.. most feelers guages start at 4 thousands .. so usually its the 2nd or 3rd one on the tool.. fan it out like a deck of cards.. find the thinest one and it should be right on that end of the tool.. hope that made sense
@@joshuaedwards5763 sounds like the connection from the steering lever to the connecting gear of the hydro has broken or come loose.. it is under the plastic body and must be accessed from underneath or by removing the plastic liner.. if the rain here in Florida ever stops I plan to make a video on this entire procedure showing all connection points and how to access them.. hoping to have the video filmed and up on the channel by the weekend
Very interesting. Can you say how old that mower is? Reason I ask is that my TB riding mower is going on 20 years old. A friend just replaced the camshaft and I did the belts, but I considering buying a new one if another repair springs up.
That mower was at least 10 years old. Trust me spending the money they want now on another box store mower is not worth it. They used to be about 1500$ . Now they are over $3000. Still thin parts . Your better off finding a very good used machine. Well kept for 6 or $800.. and doing a little maintenance when needed. Jmo
At $75 for a zero turn, it's a steal even if the engine is locked up. It doesn't even matter. I could see why you didn't care. You could find a used engine, and still easily make $500 on this mower.
It's hard to kill those Courage engines. I have a 16 year old Craftsman with a 26hp Courage. I am in the middle of doing a refresh on the mower. I gave the engine a tune up for the hell of it, but it really didn't need it. It still runs great. It had no maintenance whatsoever done on it for the first 13 years of it's life before I got it, and it hasn't missed a beat.
I am looking at getting a climate controlled space to work in.. I have to rush through my vids and a 45 minute repair takes 4 hours .. If I could relax and work slow in something less than intense heat I can start doing total refresh, rebuild and paint.. plus fabrication of strange new machines.. you most likely cant tell in my vids but i really do enjoy doing this lol
