Since you completed this great journey, looking back, is there a particular stretch of the St.Croix that stands out to you more than others? Likely hard to quantify that, i know. Thanks.
That's a great question 🤔 Interstate falls is the first that comes to mind. Sandrock cliffs area was great, and loved the solitude of the northern stretches including Namekagon.
Awesome video. Thanks. Question for ya and maybe I missed it. How were the mosquitoes? Had a friend do the Flambeau in June a few yrs ago and said the skeeters were horrible.
@@UpNorthAdventures LOL. Hope it works out for you. My buddy did say it was a wet spring and the river was higher than he should have done it at. Not sure if that had anything to do with the mosquito issue. What time of year was this video?
Great video. Im glad I found your channel. We are planning our first canoe camping trip this summer on the Wisconsin River. (Illinois here) We can't wait!.
Thanks! We will be canoeing the Wisconsin River this summer as well. I don't think I'll be sleeping in the hammock for this one though, since most of the campsites are on sand bars with no trees. Enjoy your trip! I know I will.
@@UpNorthAdventures we are buying a tent for this trip as I have heard our Hammocks wont work. While its an added expense to go to the ground it will be nice to have options.
Hey Guys! We've watched a few of your videos and very much enjoyed them. We are from Wisconsin and enjoy checking out fellow RU-vidrs! St. Peter's Dome is one of our favorite hikes! Thanks for sharing! 💙Terry and Terri
I went there before going to the campground. Very beginning of the video I point it out.. when they built the dam it flooded out the village so it's actually under water now.
@@UpNorthAdventures I saw that. But that's on top. You didn't go down the hill to the water there, or did you? I've heard that part of the Kabemabe village site is flooded and part isn't. I've always meant to visit the spot, but never have.
Good video. I've been interested in the area lately for a possible canoe trip with some new to camping people. Enjoyed the history of the area about the Native Americans.
Thank you! We canoed the entire St. Croix and Namekagon rivers. So much fun! Here's our last video in that series ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AmW9n6TYV2s.htmlsi=SR26bP-ROPN-pM_n
Me again . I’ve looked everywhere for led marker lights with mounting holes center to center at 2.75 inches (69.8mm) as the original ones have , with no luck. I see you replaced yours . Did you find some or did you drill bigger holes ? Scamp doesn’t have them . Thanks
Very impressive. I purchased a 1979 acorn this summer from Green Bay Wi ! Do you still have it? I only saw one other response of someone else with an acorn . Not many of us out there . I wonder how many . Thanks for sharing !
Thanks! There was only just over 100 built before they went back to the name scamp. So I'm curious how many remain. Just replaced the axle in ours and we used it more this year than ever, so I've got a lot of videos to edit.
They quoted me at $800.00. 3 hour job. They were honest enough to let me know it didn't take that long and charged me 730.00. So I'm very satisfied. It gave me about 3inches of additional clearance as well.
Thanks you son Kevin. I can watch this video many times bringing back so many good memories and having you and Kerry was a real blessing as I am 89 and may not do this again. Thanks again for this great treat.
I've canoed the namekagon and st.croix many times and have never had any problems with the car break ins. Parked one vehicle at phillipi landing in the town of cable. The other at the trego town park landing.
My great grandparents used to live on the Namakogan River in Seeley! I remember as a kid hearing the stories about grampa Art Thompson and his pet black bear! Maybe you’ve paddled by Thompson landing? Anywho love your videos!
Dozens of reviews watched and 12 - 5 day hikes and I did not know that the hip belts could be adjusted. Hummmmm... They have been fine but I'll try them out two marks on the next hike. Thanks.
Really nice video. Camping in the snow is not my thing. But, that was very enjoyable. You were well prepared. Your wife's cole slaw looked pretty good. The lantern lit hike was really cool. You guys picked a great spot to set up camp. I have been to the Porkys once, and it was gorgeous. It's really neat seeing it in its winter glory. I'm hoping to go back this fall. I appreciate your well-made video.
Funny you mention the Porkies. We just left there on our way to Maine. They definitely embrace winter here.. lots of activities. The lantern hike was really cool! We had a good time and my wife always hooks me up with some good food 😋. Thanks for watching!
@@UpNorthAdventures Curious if you're familiar with a landing known as Pansy Landing between Riverside and Danbury. It's about 4 river miles downstream of Riverside and slightly down stream of the Upper Tamarack River. River left. Google maps shows it but the StCroix River maps do not. Just wondering about it as a launch point. Thanks.
Not silly at all. My brother joined us on the second half of this trip and met us with his trailer to put the canoes on. Not sure of the actual portage route but it looked like it would've been a nightmare carrying it. Might want to give one of the canoe rental places a call. They might shuttle for a fee. Good luck
Thanks, I got pretty lucky. Before the trip all I heard was how bad the black flies were, but it was pretty much bug free. So I got lucky there too. Enjoy your trip!
I hear ya. Cabin fever is setting in. My section of adopted trail is in really bad shape right now. Heavy snow loads on the trees have snapped a ton of limbs and the saplings are folded over froze in the snow. We'll get er cleaned up soon though. Enjoy your trip!
Really great video. Looks like you had perfect weather for your trip! Doing the exact same trip you did this June and can’t wait! Appreciate the video!
Thanks, it was. Seems like hot tenting is really gaining popularity. I've hot tented a bunch, but for years I would just rent a hot tent. Finally purchased my own this year its cheap but im happy with it. Would much rather have a snowtrekker but a little more than I can afford. Hope you end up enjoying it as much as I do.
We live just over the border but love Michigan. My wife is originally from Maine and MI is like her favorite state now. Hope you get a chance to get home soon.
@@UpNorthAdventures No worries - I didn't want to sound uppity, just an observation. I am looking forward to your scamp camper trips this Spring & Summer!
I get what your saying and changed the title. It's all good. I'm looking forward to another scamp adventure too. Thinking of taking it Maine this summer.
Very impressed with what you did on the inside of those barrels. The reflective interior was a great idea. My wife and I along with several other couples do multi day trips. I'll be using that. Thank you and fir the video as well. Good work. Nice paddle too.
Hey, thanks for sharing, cool adventure! Loved the birds too, and the that tried to adjustability for ya, lol. Bummer that ya got the boat, you looked so toasty warm :).
