Great video! I'm setting my Wild defender and replaced everything, including the motor (fusion Pro 2300Kv), receiver ( Radio Link R8FG) and replaced the differential servos as well as the shift servo for Reefs 55 mini servos. I have been watching your video to try and setup my servos and my RC6GS V3 controller. How can I setup the end points for the servos? I'm new to the Radio Link system and never had setup endpoints before and I already ripped one of my differential cables because I didn't start the car without the servo horns disconnected. Live and learn. Any help is appreciated. Thanks :)

@@perohijo thanks buddy, glad you like the video and find it useful. I never replace the differential or gear shift servos, so unfortunately I haven't figured out the end points for them, but someone must have posted a video on RU-vid explaining how to set them. I have no issue with the 3 micro servo, they are still working fine as we speak. I have however purchased the official Traxxas replacement differential cables just in case they break, but so far I'm still using the one that came with the TRX-4 Defender. The front and rear differential cables are of different length, so make sure you get the right one for the correct end. If I come across a video teaching how to set the end points, I will post another reply below this message. 😊👍🏻

Yes, the "Gundam" head does look good, and I think the original Thunderbolt head also looks the part. If you are planning to paint the forehead piece to orange, then it will match the body very nicely. The Thunderbolt is one of the best kits I have ever built, and to be honest, in my opinion, I think it is better than Bandai MG kits, as the parts are easy to clean, nicely click together and the complete build looks amazing, you will realise how good it looks comparing to Gundam MG once it is done. I had the Thunderbolt right next to the MG Freedom Gundam 2.0 the other day, and the Freedom Gundam just looks so basic and lacks body details. 😅👍🏼

@jessicabritt6990 the black light is relatively cheap to buy from Amazon, only cost a few £, around £15 to £18 you could get the black light tube, which is the one I have bought, it comes in two separate tube, but I only use one. You will really see the effect parts glow when you shine the black light at it. I have tried in the evening that without any lights in the house, you will find stuff that you are not aware of which glow in the dark too, quite cool. I have a toy fish at the bathroom sink and it glows so bright under black light, same as some printing on my t shirts and socks, they all glow unexpectedly. 😄

Definitely.. it is very smart of Motor Nuclear to pre-painted the parts as opposed to providing us with colour correction decals. I know the decals and water slide decals do put off some model builders as there are just so many decals to apply. This Ao Bing doesn't require a single decal is a bonus and it looks so good already just from straight build. Can't wait to start building mine. 😊👍🏼

Thanks. Glad you like it. It is a very nice kit, as you can see in the video of the finished product, it looks really nice. One thing I like about it is the way they mould the plastic runners, the finishing of the plastic parts have a matt finish to it, so I don't even need to spray matt finish at the end. If you are not applying decals, a straight build finish is already really nice. If you apply decals, a top layer will protect the decals. However, what you see in the video is without the top layer, I let the water slide decals to dry naturally for 48 hours before touching. Even after posing the figure, all the decals are still intact and undamaged. It is a wonderful kit. 😊 👍🏼

But think of it this way, when you are driving the crawler and it falls or tip over, a hard body will cause a lot of damages, whereas the soft body shell will absorb a lot of the impacts, and the body ends up having a few scratches only. Also, soft body are lighter, so better not crawlers, the hard body will add too much weight to the rig.

You really feel the premium quality from the moment you pick up the box, looking at the runners you will appreciate the details on each of the parts and they have really given the kit some thought on how to make the whole building experience better for the end users. In Era+ is really giving Bandai a good run for their money. I can strongly recommend this kit. They have my biggest thumb up 👍🏼.

Thunderbolt looks great, will you build him before MGEX SF?
@jjshobbypower9091
@jjshobbypower9091 2 месяца назад
Hello. Glad you like the Thunderbolt kit as well. Yes, Thunderbolt will definitely be built before MGEX Strike Freedom, as a matter of fact, I have started building the Thunderbolt shortly after the unboxing video, as it looks too temping from looking at the runners. I have built half the body inner frame already, as the instruction manual guides you to build the inner frame first before laying the body armour. I don't mind telling you right now, in my opinion, this is by far the best Mobile Suit model kit I have ever built. The parts on the runners are on point, plastic runners quality is better. In Era+ has really thought about where to put the nubs connecting the parts to the runners, the parts can be easily cut out, the nubs are easy to clean up. They made 95% of the external visible parts with undergate, the hidden parts are with normal gates but they are easy to clean up and they are at locations which are not in front of your face, a very well done to In Era+ for taking the extra step to provide their customers a great building experience. I was originally a bit worried about the number of runners, as there are just so many, but the experience is really great and the details on each of the parts is so good, it makes the whole building experience very enjoyable. The inner frame I have built so far is extremely impressive, I will upload a short video to show everyone the details once the inner frame is complete. I'm more than impressed by this kit, and I will definitely buy from In Era+ again. 🫡🙇🏻‍♂️👍🏼

I have both the RG and HG kits, even though the RG is a lot more detailed and has better color separation, I still prefer the HG mainly because of the proportion. The legs are longer, the feet are slimmer, the wings are a bit bigger on the HG, so all in all, it makes the HG look cooler with just a bit of painting or customizations. I decided to paint the "inner frames" of the HG (not really haha), and any parts that are supposed to be gold in gold color, also paint a few other details here and there (in the legs, vents, etc.), adding water slide decals, a layer of top coat and IMO it looks better than the RG. It of course takes efforts but it's worth it I think. The RG SF is still great though, it's just that the proportion of the early RGs in general does't look that good to me (compared to MG, or even some modern HGs) Great comparison though! Very useful for those who are looking into buying these!
@jjshobbypower9091
@jjshobbypower9091 2 месяца назад
Thanks, glad you enjoyed watching my video. You are right about the RG, although it is more detailed, the proportion of the body is slightly different to the HG. The HG has the body shape like the Ver.Ka. Another thing about the RG is that it is very detailed with the colour separation, but the backpack is a lot heavier than the HG backpack, so it struggles to stand up straight, but propping it on a display stand will resolve the issue. With the Advanced MS inner frame, the RG is just too floppy comparing to the HG. My HG can stand on its own feet without any support regardless whether the backpack is opened or not. I also find the RG required a lot more effort in polishing and cleaning up nubs in order to look good, the HG is a lot easier. It is fair to say the RG really did test my patience. I can imagine your HG must look really good with all the additional painting, nice work! I hope Bandai will release a RG Strike Freedom 2.0 soon to fix up the Advanced MS joints. The more recent released of RG are great though, as they do not have the early RG syndrome, and they are all pretty firm in terms of their joints, like the RG Tallgeese, RG Zeong, RG Nu Gundam, RG Hi-Nu Gundam and RG Sazabi, they are all very top class RG model kits. I can't wait to buy the soon to be released RG RX-78-2 2.0, it looks so good comparing to the last one, and it also has a lot more details on the inner body frame. Really looking forward to the release and will definitely get one. 😊👍🏼
@nguyenx86
@nguyenx86 2 месяца назад
@@jjshobbypower9091 You're right that the RG SF really test the patience! Mine is also more floppy than the HG (I also have the RG Freedom & Justice, and they all seem to share the exact same pre-molded inner frames which really explains why), at least it's not that bad compared to Zeta or Sinanju, but definitely worst than a few later kits (despite also beeing early RGs) like Wing/Zero EW or 00 series, let alone the even newer ones as you mentioned lol I hope so, about Bandai releasing the 2.0 for other early kits, like what they will do with Granpa 2.0. The early RGs even though are not as stable as the new mini MGs, I still think they are worth collecting, mostly because they are unique (both good and bad), beautiful to look at (minus the proportion issue), and really helped me to enhance my skill through the years haha (man I hate Zeta, but it's absolutely the best looking version, even better than MG 2.0 or ver Ka IMO), so that's why I still keep collecting them, till this day. Really appreciate your review (and love) for these older ones! Looking forward to see more of your videos in the future!
@jjshobbypower9091
@jjshobbypower9091 2 месяца назад
@nguyenx86 thank you do much for your support, it is much appreciated. I think the more recent RG are great as they are more robust, the earlier ones though, a little sloppy, but we would always glue the joints to make it a fixed model. We appreciate the shape and the details more than anything, it is not like we would pick it up and play with it and twisting all the arms and legs all the time. To me, I don't mind gluing everything, as once they are built, they are display pieces, more like art works than toys that you play around with. So whichever ones they are, they definitely have their values. Just my personal preference that I like those with a lot of details, as eveeytime I look at it, it would give me something to look at and to appreciate the details and design. 😊👍🏼

Is this the HG Universal Century 1/144 RG-78-2 HG? I have one but ive never built any gundam models. Ive got the gundam metallic marker set, along with some of my wifes uni POSCA markers. I was wondering how that would do in place of airbrushing? Awesome video btw! I love the detailed description videos instead of the fast forward time lapse of someone building one without saying a single word lol. Keep up the great work man! Cheers!

Yes, it is indeed. On the box, it has a model number of "191". You are going to enjoy building your first ever gundam, and this one is relatively easy to build. Even if you don't put any colouring on the model, it will look good as the colour separation is quite good with this kit. You just need to add some panel lines. This can be fine via Tamiya Panel liner, or simply use s fine tip mechanical pencil (ideally 0.2 to 0.3mm). You could use marker pens also, but I find marker pens tend to leave finger paint every time I touch on the area, whereas airbrushing gives you a more perfect finish and doesn't attack fingerprint. One downside of airbrushing is you need to be very careful when playing with the Gundam after as the airbrushed paint could get scrapped off quite easily. Thanks again for watching my video, and thanks for your support. Let me know if you need help, and keep me posted on your build. Good luck! 😊👍🏼

Amazing job, and yeh that pose is certainly perfect! I have 2 questions, was the nail buffer all you used to give the shine to the kit? And did you apply the panel line on without any top coat before and after? Been a while since I’ve build a kit but just got the calibarn and I remember folks saying not to use the tamiya panel liners without a top coat in fear of the plastic cracking…

Thanks! Glad you like it. To be honest, my glass nail file gives a good shine on it own, but it also depends on the type of glass file. There are a lot of filing sticks available, to achieve that gloss shine, you will need at least 4000 grit. My recommendation is get a glass nail file plus a sending stick of 4000 grit, both would last a long time, as glass file only requires water to rinse off the file powder, and the 4000 grit is just for polishing so it won't wear out too quickly. To answer your second question, I applied Tamiya Panel Line directly onto the plastic parts cut out from the runner. There is no requirement of additional layer of protection. I always apply panel liner directly onto the model, and I haven't come across any plastic cracking in my experience. Hope you will find the above useful. Just word of advice, don't polish the whole gundam as it would look odd being all glossy, also, some of the areas you might not be able to polish due to restrictions and shape of the molding. 😊👍🏼

@@jjshobbypower9091 thank you for the tips! Its rainy season here so humidity is way too high for any top coating. At least i know now I can get good results with minimal effort. Again huge thanks!

I personally prefer the proportions of the Robot Damashii "ver. Anime" line of figures. But you make that high grade look spectacular, I must say. The polished parts really accent the paint quite nicely. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or resources to paint my kits so I'll just keep paying a premium for finished figures out of box. However, if I ever find myself with the right tools and some spare time, I definitely want to give the high grade a shot!

Thanks for your kind words. I haven't seen the Damashii version myself, but I heard a lot of good feedback about them on youtube. The HG Calibarn is actually quite easy to make. You don't need that much time, it took me on and off around 3 to 4 days. In terms of tools, what you really need is just a pair of good nipper and a glass file, you don't really need to add panel lines as the Calibarn has quite deep panel lines molded already. 😊👍🏼 Give the HG, RG or MG a chance, you will love them. As you would make the effort to build them, you would appreciate them even more.

Whoa. On P-Bandai this shows as delivered September 2024. It's out of my price range or I would get it, looks fantastic. I was holding on getting a Calibarn because I wanted a 1/100, didn't realize it would be an uber expensive P-Bandai version only.

This is the High Grade. He's saying it can be a reasonable alternative to the Soul of Chogokin figure on a budget if your willing to put in some extra effort. I personally prefer my Robot Spirits very. ANIME figure. It's more expensive than the HG, but only a third of the price of a Chogokin figure, and has plenty of accessories and detail out of box.

@@slyfawkes7772 thanks! I didn’t catch that thanks for the explanation. I Googled Calibarn Chogokin and a new Calibarn will be released later this year so I thought he had like an early release version or something. I was holding out for Bandai to release a 1/100 version of Calibarn but at that price I’ll pass. I went to Hobbytown and caved in to the HG Calibarn. Panel lined it and assembled it and the result is great. I do like it and holds well on the shelf next to my other 1/100 and VerKa models. I’m happy 😊

It's rare that a 3 day build would look that good with such minimal work (except of course the polishing.) I really like this build. Looks much harder than I guess it was.

To be fair, the kit is simply awesome. Even without polishing, it will look good. It is just me being picky and wanting the model to look smoother and better. The kit itself is pretty easy to build, and it comes with all the colour separation, so it doesn't take much effort to make it looks good. How have you been buddy? You been keeping well? 😊👍🏼

This is version 2.0 of the Freedom. Not sure if they are due to release 3.0 anytime soon (if ever). This one is already much better than the original. Reviews often suggest this MG 2.0 version is better than Metal Build if you decided to airbrush it yourself. If you want a better version, go for the MGEX Strike Freedom, it looks similar to Freedom.
