I used the Autoglym ceramic coating kit, which I bought for my real car. It is just an experiment, but it turns out really well. Here is a link to the product: www.autoglym.com/ultra-high-definition-ceramic-coating
Don't think it would cause any damages to the model paint, even though it is a model, the ceramic coating is just a coat on paint, as long as the paint has dried properly there shouldn't be any issues. I used to apply the Meguiars Ceramic Wax/Detailer, which also looks good when applied. The Ceramic Coating offer a better protection on the long run, only downside is it causes water on the surface to bead, but since your model cars are not going to get wet then it should fine. On a real car, it would require driving your car in order for the water beads to run off after rain or car wash. To answer your question, the coating looks great once finished properly, but best to practice on a cheaper model first to see the result of application, otherwise you might see streaks or hazing on the surface. If done correctly, the finishing is pretty amazing, just like in the video, it gives a perfect shine and looks very glossy. I didn't apply on the carbon front spliter as it is carbon pattern decals and I'm not sure how strong are the decals so better play safe and not apply the coating on them.
