How much does it REALLY cost to go cruising? Can you do it on a tight budget? Do you need to be rich? Is it possible to "Go small, go simple, go now"? I'm trying to find out.
If you can, please consider donating to our journey with the link below. And if you can't, well that's fine too. We hope to see you out there. :)
LOL. Welcome to the long long list of cruisers doing the visa run between Thailand and Malaysia. :-) Doing this is how you stay in the area since basically forever. I am pleased to learn that you have now figured it out! Enjoy your return to Langkawi. :-)
Pulau Talang is a lot of rubbish landing there. I was overnight there for 1 night. Do you smell rubbish burning there? Nice place but bad smell and rubbish.
You should go to hotel for a night, then in the morning to immigration, name your hotel, and be done with it. If you failed at this simple managment of foreign countries, god help you on your further voyages.
@janezjonsa3165 thanks for the comment. Unfortunately that's not how Thai immigration works. Also after 20 countries on this journey I'm fairly adept. Cheers.
@@lenamaysail well, and Krabi is a lazy daytime sail to Phuket. I live there in winter time every year, for months. I cant understand your dilema. You must have had a different reason to sail on.
@@janezjonsa3165 I'm not sure how many times you've entered Krabi internationally as a solo sailor on a private yacht, but you must have some secret knowledge that I don't have. But... for anyone else that's curious, you can't check out of the country in Krabi...and then just show up in Phuket. Even if you do make the lazy 45 mile day sail dead upwind to Phuket. Cheers.
Too late now, but this would most likely have worked. I asked a this: Sure, I can help with that. When entering Thailand by sailboat, travelers typically receive a 30-day transit visa¹. This visa is not easily extendable, so if you want to stay longer, you would need to leave the country and re-enter to get a new visa¹. For a longer stay, you could indeed stop in Malaysia, cross the border by foot or public transport, and apply for a 60-day tourist visa, which can be extended for an additional 30 days, totaling 90 days². After obtaining this visa, you can return to Thailand by sailboat and use the remainder of the visa period².
That was a longggg week and it was really really bad. Glad you managed to share some footage with us of what you were going thru at Lanta. There were more boats at anchor than I thought.
Not so welcome in Thailand, they can see your not a commercial vessel, maybe you needed to grease the right palm, a lot of other yachties seem to stay for a long time, back to Malaysia for a while
@@lenamaysailI am not getting it, is this the issue of the your visa on your passport where you have a 30 days visa waiver or is this the issue of the boat not allowed to stay in anchors for more than 30 days in Krabi? I
@@lenamaysail Very true, I just saw you launched from Portland originially so I thought you were headed back this way lol. Great trip, you've been putting in some miles!
Krabi, Krabi, Krabi! You have now arrived along the coastline where I spent quite some time 30 years ago. I loved seeing the entry into the port area and the street along the port area, which also looks pretty much the same as always. I recommend that you stay in the Krabi area for as long as possible. You will never regret it! Cheers,
@Brad.whatthe going good. I have a long list of projects, of course. I will haul out next month do try tackle some of them. Thanks for checking in. Cheers.
I recently picked up on your channel and appreciate your sharing of the adventures your having. All sailors are learning on the fly and your approach to transparency is greatly appreciated. You are doing what I hope to be doing in the foreseeable future. Thanks for the inspiration and showing us that it can be done.
Hey Kevin I hope everything is going well. It's been a couple of months from your last video in Langkawi. You haven't drank too much duty-free beer. 🤣😂🤣 Hopefully, you're well and looking forward to your next video.
Have been thinking about a video update from you as well @lenamaysail. Good to have read that you are okay, I'll be waiting for the next vid. Be safe cheers! Greetings from Holland
Hey Lena May. Kim Philley of Philiosophy. Finally got out of Medana. Am at Surabaya for a few days so Ufrin can see her son. Good intell as to good marinas and such. Long time between videos. Wondering how you are getting on...Kim
Finally, I caught up all your videos. Wow, that squall looked nasty. What news do you have on your old boat after the last crew left it? I'm looking forward to more videos. Safe travels.
