Hello, my name is Erica, and I am the founder of A Needle N Thread in Spring, Texas. Here in the shop we teach sewing classes, but we also do custom quilting/long arm work, and sell fabric and sewing notions! On this RU-vid channel we want to teach basic quilting techniques so that you at home can sew along with us. Come visit the shop if you're in Houston, or check out our online shop (linked below.) We can't wait to get to know you! 💕

Thank you! This was a great tutorial and made it easy to tackle this project. I set out to install a zipper and learned to make a zipper pouch thanks to your great instructions!
Wow! I LOVE the second block. This is sooo fun. I'm always messing around with scrap fabric; this IS a must do. Wait, what if I made a mini quilt using this idea? Its up next on my cutting mat. Many thanks, I love disappearing blocks. I just subbed to your uTube site ❤❤❤
Good question. It really depends. If I’m working with squares to create half square triangle blocks, no. If I’m working with very small pieces or adding triangles into a quilt then yes. The starch/sizing gives the smaller pieces and the individual triangles a bit more body which helps with control as they are fed through the machine.
@@aneedlenthread Oh, thank you. I saw another (nice) video of yours and noticed your slab looked flexible. Thank you for informing me. I'll stick to my small ironing board. (cheaper- been buying too much. LOL) BTW, I'm using your video for a tutorial on a quilt I am starting soon. Thank you for your nice presentation.
Regarding the cutting ruler. I purchased the 6" x 24" initially but returned it because it was too wide for me and the space I had for cutting. I purchased the 3" x 24" and have not regretted the decision. For me, it's just more comfortable to use.
Greetings, I am new to quilting. It has always been a love 💕 of mine to learn! I am a new subscriber, and looking forward to more content for new quilters thank you from Elkton, Maryland. 😊
I have a 1/4 pressure foot that I use and tape that I use and still mess up once in a while. But I am getting better at getting the 1/4 seam than I was. I love all of your videos.
Thanks for all of the information that you just gave all of us. All of it was very helpful., I am going to watch all of your videos. Thank you so much. I learned a lot from this video. 🙏🙏❤️❤️
I am a longtime quilter and yet always seem to benefit from “beginner” tips, mostly reminders. Enjoyed your presentation and now that I have subscribed I can continue to learn with you. Thanks
Oh, my gosh! That Singer machine setting behind you! It’s the one I learned to sew on with my mom ❤️ I wish I still had it, but I foolishly let a salesman convince me to trade it in on a new one. ☹️. Thanks for the memories and feels!
This is my first time watching one of your tutorials and all I can say is, “FINALLY! Someone who is actually a teacher.” Thank you for your clear explanations and demonstrations. The best I’ve seen and I have watched my share of tutorials❤ I have been quilting since 1999 and it is never too late to learn and grow.
I just bought some 1930s style fabrics and some tone-on-tone white for background and I think I finally found my next pattern to make. Your quilt is very pretty.
Wondering how you installed the base with the reinforcement and feet vs how the lining base was installed. How did you maneuver the base? Which foot did you use on your machine?
The feet have tabs on them to attach them to the bag. To create a stable base, I cut a piece of cardboard to be the shape of the base. I then put the tabs through the base fabric and cardboard. Honestly, the cardboard did the job wonderfully, but I don’t know that I’d do it again.
Hello! This is my first time watching! You are clearly explaining for beginners! Thank you for that! I was surprised to hear you mention ‘guys’ - are there just men watching?! I am a grandma and I assumed that it was aimed mainly for women!
Welcome! Ultimately, my goal is to help everyone learn and grow as a quilter. That means beginners and up, women and men. Anyone who wants to grow. :) It’s fun to see guys getting more and more interested in the fiber arts (quilting, garment sewing, knitting, crocheting).
Thanks for a professional and relevant presentation. Thanks for not trying to entertain us as this causes some annoyance when I need information indeed it right away. Too much flighty chit chat is annoying for a lot of folkus as that technique andIturn away. Loved the way you just jumped into the information first thing. Loved it. Wis I had seen thistwpyearsahoas I am self taught.
Great video!! wish I'd watched it a year ago. JUST did my first quilt for my nieces new baby. OMG! it's HARD. All the MATH, and creativity! Great info. Thank you. Gotta watch the first one now.
@@aneedlenthread "math ing" GOOD ONE!!! After taking ALGEBRA I FINALLY realized it IS useful--IN CHEMISTRY!!! ahahahhaaa I am learning to have "fun" with removing STITCHES. OMG. I HATE to "FROG" in crochet but "unsewing" isn't so bad with the right SEAM RIPPER.
The links are working on our side so I’m not sure why it’s not loading for you. Email me at info@aneedlenthread.com and I can help you with your order. 🩷
❤❤Do you have a video on how to use the rulers to cut? I was told that cutting the fabric for quilting is different because you have to line up the fabric a certain way with the ruler. Please help
I don’t have any videos like that out yet, but there is a video course available on my shop if you’re interested in learning more of the basics for quilting!
