I love this as I never paint so many geometric shapes as least not enough ! Yours flow so gently next to each other . I just started with the gesso & paste layer but cadmium orange & water does not look anything like the color on your canvas ! On mine It looks orange while yours has more of an ochre shade to me . I'm already frustrated & stressed !! Can you tell me once more what color you used . Maybe I heard wrong or your lighting is way different ?? Thanks Joy .
Thanks for your question. You can try mixing yellow and a little red on the canvas so you can blend the colours together. Have a play in your sketch book with different yellows, reds and pinks etc. It will surprise you how many lovely variations you can make. Turn it into experimenting and discovering so you find the process that you like. Think more about the process and playing and you'll feel much happier with your painting and the results will come! Happy painting 🖌️🎨😊
I love all the geometric spaces. It reminds me of organizing all the parts of my life in a harmonious design. Color palette has all my favorite colors. Thank you for sharing your talent.
@@JoyFaheyArtist You were my first teacher, I took your free course and than some more, all worth a lot, all really helped. Your way of being with what you create and inviting us to this state of being, and this state of allowing it to be and become, is just amazing, is the thing that propels an artist to success. The principles you teach are all there, concentrated - others just teach some of them and in a not systematic manner - you know some, but you still don't know where you are. With your teaching you know exactly where you are and how to advance, which is the point right? To have the tools that allow you to choose which one to use for the painting to be a reflection of yourself, to feel right. Being an artist require us to be brave, to adventure ourselves. And you teach how to do that in a way that you get more of yourself out of this journey, without fear of the unknown, feeling empowered. Thank you for sharing you with us. Have a great day.
This is a gorgeous piece. Thank you for sharing your process and knowledge. I just found your channel, and I am thrilled. I am an American expat living in Portugal. I would love to pop over to Spain for your retreat. 😊
Thank you so much Anna! If you'd like to chat with me about the retreat feel free to email me at joyfaheyart@gmail.com . I've 4 spots still available. Look forward to hearing from you. 😊🎨🖌️
You mentioned using gesso brush, which I think you use often in your paintings. Is that also known as a chip brush? Do you have a link to one so I can see what it is?
So lovely to watch. Beautiful painting. I can see those figures have come from your subconscious. You said you were with family from many parts of the world. The importance of family coming together is really evident. If love to come to Spain for your class but I'm very far away in Australia. I've been teaching myself abstract painting and have been running a small group of beginners. Showing them my style of texture painting using house hold tools. Thank you for your showing your skills. I've learnt something today. Rochelle. (ElleKay)
Many thanks I'm very pleased you found the painting helpful. Great that you're sharing your art too! As they say 'the best way to learn is to teach '! 🖌️🎨😊
I really loved your process with layers. The painting is so beautiful! The colors really work well together. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Do you let the individual colors dry before adding more on top? and do you use a different brush or tool for each color? I've found if the layers are still wet, the new colors don't blend nicely. thanks
Thank you so much for your wonderful video. So much inspiration. I was making 100 cupcake toppers for my nephew's graduation while I watched. It was all I could do to keep on with my task, I wanted to run to my art room and start painting. Ĺove this painting in your video
It is so relaxing watching you paint. I am just a beginner and some are outside my skills yet. You are a wonderful artist, with a beautiful voice, a lovely laugh and I would guess an amazing person. Thank yoou for sharing your work and teaching us. I love watching this painting coming together and I love the colors.
Looking at the painting I see contentment, which is a rare jewel in this world. I see on RU-vid a lot of advice to be loose, free, emotional, use large gestures, add interest, etc, and it seems that the wilder emotions are the fashion. But I am no longer young and my life is completely free but very peaceful and orderly - I love it. This painting on the wall would make me happy.
Thanks so much for your lovely message 🙏 I'm very happy you like the painting and glad you like the videos. I love teaching and sharing art as it's such a calming soothing thing to do and helps with so many aspects of life. Thanks again 😊
The important point is to enjoy the process of painting and think in terms of playing not producing This will make all the difference to how you feel Have fun with your art 🎨🖌️😊
Hi, Joy. Very inspiring, as I have a deep emotional connection with trees. I have a question regarding how long you leave the seran wrap on the paint/gesso to dry before you remove it. Thanks!
Thanks for your question, depending on how hot it is with you it could be a couple of hours or overnight. You can lift a corner of the wrap to check if it's dried. Enjoy! it's a great way to create mysterious trees! 🎨🖌️😊
Thank you, Joy. I have found it very helpful indeed to see how you transformed these two paintings from the first stage to what you have finished here - from a pretty picture to an interesting painting. And for your advice. Carolann
I love Golden paints I think they are the best ones. I’m new to your channel and am enjoying your teaching. I’m 67 and am burning inside to paint. I have a sketch book . What I’m doing is painting papers for collage. I want to express myself doing collage and painting together. I am going to get the book Drawing On the Right Side of the Brain. Thank you.❤️
