Hi, I'm Jackie, and hand-painting paper for mixed media art is my favorite hobby. (I hope it becomes yours, too!)
Somedays, I paint with a specific purpose, but most days, I spend a little time in the studio exploring and creating intuitively. This puts me in a state of experimentation and wonder. My work excites me, and I hope it inspires you to try new things.
For many of us, painting paper was one of the first things we learned to do in school, and you know what? We were not expected to create "art." Somewhere along the way, many of us were made to feel less than great about our creativity, so we stopped, which is a shame.
I invite you back to a place of play and exploration through this channel. We are not painting for a tangible result but simply to feel good.
Having said that, I have five rules that I live by in my studio - and you should, too. 😀 If you want to know them, sign up for my mailing list below, and I'll send them to you.
Merci beaucoup, Benaissa, pour vos paroles très aimables. J'adore créer des collages en grille et je suis tellement excité chaque fois que je travaille dessus. Merci d'avoir regardé et d'avoir pris le temps de laisser un commentaire. 🥰 [Google Traduction]
That makes me so happy, Reentje! And you are right, it did make my spirit lift - I'm terrible about hiding how I really feel 😂. I'm so happy you are here! 🥰
Hi Jackie - what a fun session! I learned a lot as usual. I’m curious if you ever use just matte/gloss medium to pull paint that dried before you got to a pull. Thank you! ❤
@@PaintedPaperStudio wow - that was quick! Thank you! I am not getting reliable result with this and thought I was doing something wrong. I will be on the lookout! Have a great rest of your evening!! ❤️
I just discovered your channel and I'm so happy I did! I find your instructions very thorough and easy to follow. I started my viewing with your video on conditioning a new plate (wish I had seen it earlier!) and loved the use of the medical exam paper. The link you included has two types on it, crepe or smooth) though crepe is what is highlighted on the product page. Before I order I hope you can confirm which type you use. Thank you!
Hi Mary! Crepe is the one I usemost. I've used the smooth, but it doesn't get as transparent at the crepe (in my tests). I'm so happy you're here and hope you're having lots of fun with your gel plate!
@@PaintedPaperStudio Thank you! I just ordered a box. It is so inexpensive! I'm sure I will have a roll or two to share with my young grandchildren. I haven't had a lot of time to experiment but what I have done so far has been very enjoyable. I have been collecting different papers and sample tubes from a few manufacturers.
Hey Jacckie, another great video! And always so well produced, youve got these art videos down pat! Brilliant! Hey, have u tried the newish Toolio Acrylic Paint Pens? They have lovely colours and look so interesting, wondered if u maight do a cideo and sgow us some cool ways to use them?! Ps i was just using oil pastels today, so glad u used them in mixed media! They are such a lovely medium, love discovering new ways for them!! Thanks forthe video!!❤
Jackie you are just amazing! Thank you so much for these amazing inspirational videos! Just can’t wait to start creating my own masterpieces!❤❤❤ Watching and following from New Zealand ❤
This is fantastic for your first video :) What a great start- and wonderful to watch your channel and your skills grow. Congrats on your one year anniversary- thank you for all of the information and inspiration!
Thank you very much, Donna! When I made that video I truly had no idea what I was doing - it took me over a week to edit the video. But like anything else, the more you do it the faster/easier it gets. Now it only takes me half a week to edit 😂✍️I'm so glad you're here and have been part of this journey.🥰
Thank you very much, Jinderella and I'm so happy you're here! 🥰 I hope you enjoy all the videos, but especially the ones where I learn from my mistakes - I've been told that I quite expressive 😂
You are welcome, Tally. And yes, you can make beautiful art that is uniquely yours when you pay attention to how it makes you feel. I'm so happy you're here. 🥰
Bright, beautiful and wonderful to watch you create and translate such a lovely and moving memory 🌷 ‘I just like painting to feel good’, exactly the reason I’ve got drawn into this amazing creative journey. It’s all about expression, having fun, experimenting and really helps to develop the ability to listen to our intuition, all of which you embrace and teach us Jackie 🌷🤗🙏🏻😘🤗🌷
Thank you for reminding me to play.🖌🌈 I keep painting with intention to create something specific instead of letting it evolve and then being disappointed if it doesn't go well. It's really pretty.🥀🌻 Thanks for sharing 😍🌷
Please will you tell me the name of the tape you used. I am still having trouble finding the products n the description from time to time, user error no doubt.
Jackie, thanks for showing all of us who make excuses for not starting an art project by telling ourselves "I just don't have the time to paint today" that IT IS possible to create a beautiful painting in under an hour!! I just realized I'm assuming a lot here, this might have taken you hours prior to editing!! lol xoxoxo Deanna
Bathing in colors and your happy smile at the end of this Saturday - what could be more pleasing?! 🥰 In my garden there are so many different sorts of blossoms right now, and I wonder, if I can use this technique to catch their beauty. We´ll see. Wish you a most colorful week dear Jackie. 😘 Britta
You said, "I just like painting to feel good." I could not have said it better! I do like to paint on larger sheets and some inexpensive stretched canvas, but I'm always just painting for myself and my own enjoyment.
I love that, Bob! In my opinion, creating just for yourself alows you to be more authentic with what you create, thereby making art you love. Another viewer just wrote to me that she did the "salsa series" just for herself and ended up getting 3 offers from people to buy them. She attributes it to making the pieces for herself. 🥰
What a lovely tulip field you've created! All those colours and super helpful tips and tricks for creating magic with the taylor's chalk and all other supplies 🤩! I love tulips. So this art journal page is right up my alley. Thank you! Aloha from Berlin & a wonderful weekend ❤🧡💛💚💜
Really beautiful mini pieces are all these squares, Jackie! So inspirational! I have to admit that my heart missed a beat when you reached for the scissors 😄! But just one beat because I trust you and your incredible artistic skills 🤩! Aloha from Berlin ❤🧡💛💚💜
Discovering your channel and watch your process and how much joy you express has helped me overcome trying to "get it perfect" in one layer. I'm now not afraid to cover up any or all parts of a previous layer! It's so liberating!
