Hi Jackie, love, love, love this!! I too would like to see your printing on medical exam paper and your Procreate process. Thanks for all the amazing inspiration!
Oh wow!! I'm only a few minutes into this video, and I'm already excited! Will you please show how you print on the medical exam paper? With 12 rolls, the more I can do with it the better! 😊 I also don't care for drawing in a traditional way. Although I enjoy painting big silly flowers and trees and things. But adding images without having to draw them all first would be fabulous! I can reuse my own images in so many different ways by printing on the exam paper. I just bought a bunch of Nova Colors and mediums and I love them so much! 😁
Michelle - I bet it was like Christmas morning when you opened the box from Nova! 😀 I've noted your interest in the process for printing on the exam paper 🥰
Here we are…all with our lifetime supplies of medical exam paper 🤣🤣🤣 how are you storing the paper? I definitely need to treat myself to some nova paints!
I became very anxious when you showed the drawings. Uggh my drawing has gone by the wayside. Then my insides started to relax and I felt better when you said "You can do this." I said OK I can. Thank you for your encouragement at just the right time! These pieces are very interesting and I look forward to seeing the the next steps in these collages. As always many thanks.
Wow!! Spectacular Jackie. I do love the block painting. I've never tried it like this. I'm so anxious to see the collage with your hand painted papers! Such a joy to watch!!
Jackie, that avocado looks so yummy yummy YUMMY 🤩! And it's so much fun to watch you working on these three pieces of art for your kitchen! They will look so beautiful and they will always bring your lovely smile to your face whenever you look at them and prepare your salsa😍! Will be tough to wait for your next video 🙂! And: yes, a video on how to draw with Procreate would be very interesting. Plus some more Sweet Archie sounds ... thank youuuuuu! Aloha from Berlin ❤🧡💛💚💜
I believe you are correct about the water causing the outlining. The water is saturating the paper without giving it a base to be suspended in. My first collage teacher had us wet everything first before we glued it down. After the class I did not do this and was much happier with the results. The teacher felt it allowed the papers to relax and lay flatter. I felt it took something away from the character of the papers. It still serves its purpose in some situations but like most things you need to experiment and weigh the results for yourself. 😊
That's interesting, Susan. I use the water when collaging certain types of paper because I think it really does lay down flatter, but with other papers it looks like my finger tips after a long bath. The medical exam paper needs the water to go "transparent" but it didn't need nearly as much as I put on. Just another thing to experiment with 😀
@@PaintedPaperStudio Have you experimented with spraying the paper with Golden's Airbrush Medium instead of water? I've used it to thin acrylic paint. Cool video - subscribed! Thx
This is really beautiful! I can’t wait to see what happens when you add those lovely papers you made. I’d love to see how you create and print your Procreate artwork on medical paper. Thanks for sharing your creative process with us! It’s very inspiring.
Hi Paul! Thank you has has been a lot of work, and...what you saw at 19:27 is not the final 😜 I hope you'll be here next week to see what happens next. Thank you for being here 🥰
Another fantastic and informative video Jackie! Love watching you create. I'm definitely "in" for how you use Procreate. I've had it for a while and while I understand the basics, I haven't mastered anything useful to support my art practice. Be well! ❤❤❤
Thank you very much, Paul! It's interesting - I haven't found too many useful ways to use Procreate in my practice either, but it's perfect for this use. 🥰
Love where this is going! You are much better at drawing than you give yourself credit for! Can't wait for next week's video!!! Btw. I had never heard of "underpainting" before, this is new to me and I am curious to see what becomes of it!
You should really see my "drawing" sketchbooks 😂 I'm not being hard on myself, I promise, it's just that drawing does not light me up. I would not enjoy painting anything with any type of realism without having an underpainting to guide me. I hope your curiosity is rewarded 😍
Hi Jackie, I am loving this 'Salsa Series' I can't wait for the last video in this series. I think it's one of your best yet. I'm learning so much from you and thoroughly enjoying all the processes you use with no pressure attached for 'that perfect piece'. Thank you Jackie, you inspire me.
Hi Jackie. I love your channel! And thank you for the brilliant recommendation on the medical exam paper - I love using it for all sorts of things now, and I passed the suggestion onto Marabeth Quinn, who just painted with it on her channel. My question to you is in reference to how exactly to use it as copy paper in your copier. I would love to see a video on how you took the image of the tomato from your iPad and printed it on that paper. Thanks so much, Peggy.
Hi Peggy! I'm so happy that you love the medical exam paper it's remarkable 😍. I saw Marabeth's video - loved it. There has been a lot of interest in my process of creating and printing the value renderings, I hope to be able to create that soon. 🥰
Great! I look forward to seeing that video for sure! Thank you for all the work you do with the various papers and techniques so that we can all learn from you and your expertise.
Thank you for sharing your “Salsa Series”. Your process is informative and inspiring. I especially appreciate learning about the medical exam paper. I have had a roll of it in my stash for 10 years! Now I know how to make it more transparent in my collage works thus making it more useful. Your videos are enjoyable and very well done!!! 😊
Thank you very much, Cindy - I appreciate your kind words! I bet you've looked a that roll of exam paper a million times over the 10 years, wondering what you would do with it. 😂
Well worth the wait, Jackie! It's so fun to watch your creative processes, and I'm always learning so many new things!! Now the wait is on for next Saturday : ((((
@@PaintedPaperStudio I can already tell by the video yesterday that your finished panels are exquisite! Can't wait to see them! And don't ever say you're "not good at drawing"! Your sketches of the fruit(s) and veggies were excellent!
Gorgeous! I’m wondering if you can see the paper outline because the panels have been stained a darker colour? My medical exam paper turned this week and I am keen to try it out but I’m up at my fathers and don’t have all my paints with me. Why am I not on your mailing list! 😂 I meant to join it but must have forgotten…stupid adhd brain😂 I’ll go and do it before I forget again!
I too would like to see your printing on medical exam paper and your Procreate process. Also, a question…. When I decollaged my project I created a cavern in it (a couple of big chunks came up). I’m thinking I should fill it in with more collage and sand again- any thoughts on that? Thanks for all the amazing instruction.
Thanks for reaching out, Donna. You have options here. If you are going to try to fill the cavern with collage, make sure you wait until all the layer are completely dry before you sand - that may take a day or two depending on deep the cavern is. As an alternative, you could use a compound medium (like modeling paste or heavy gel medium) to fill in, and then go over it with a layer of collage once it's dry. I hope this helps 🥰
