Farkin 300 riders , 6 gears and they love only using 2 . Great Ausiie style trailing riding out there , fast and flowing . Hook up with a better host out there it rips , the putt putt gang like the Graham Jarvis trial bike style riding .
looks great fun. Have you ever ridden @ Conodale sunshine motorcycle club. We're having a ponyexpress on the 29th & 30th of July. The track 22km long & has just about every kind of ridding you can do from mx creek crossing hills fast open & single track. You don't get to ride here much so get some of your mates & enter for the race.
Hey mate, you need to turn on the GPS feature (I have Go Pro 7) and when you record you need to hit the record button after the camera is already on and acquired GPS. Then you can overlay in the go pro App. It's a bit of a painful process which is why I don't really use on my other videos. Enjoy
Hey mate, People smarter than me suggested not sharing locations but likely riding this Sunday if you want to join us and I can show you where these are. 👍
It's difficult to explain mate, if you park at beginners its about 5 mins on fire roads, most people happy for others to tag along so just ask when there. That's what I did 🙂✊
hey Mark, which group on FB?? That track at 2:25 is what my old riding buddies called Ice Break cause of the number of Ice Break iced coffee bottles that were strewn all over the place about 3 years ago.
Hey Dean, happy to adopt the name mate, good to be able to reference trails. Next time out there on my own I am going to try find some of these trails again 😀 Glad someone cleaned up all the bottles, sounded like a mess.
@@motomark33 The Rattlesnake is actually named Dale's Twists after the guy who ran Trail Riders Australia (TRA). No idea if Dale still rides these days but he was very quick on a KDX200.
@@Mudjimba23AT We parked at a place called pigs, its really close to Big Red Carpark which is on google maps. You could park there but if you want to go to Pigs then keep driving past Big Red Carpark heading west and take the next right, just 200-300m up that road and you are at pigs 👍
Hey Scott, sorry to hear that mate, quick look on your channel and good to see it hasn't deterred you 😀Do you still have the WR or converted to 690 and adventure riding only?
@@motomark33 I sold the WR450 because I found that the 690 was scratching that itch and the wr was just collecting dust :-( I do love them still but I like to do multi-day hard adventures and the 690 is just like a bike dirt bike with the benefit of some touring when needed.
@@ManBikeSwag Definitely agree, 690 is a great bike for adventure riding. Be good to bump into you in a bar one night, could swap stories. I rode a kitted out XR650L from London to Cape Town through Africa back in 2003, epic year long adventure ride. I'll take a look through your channel 😀✊
@@motomark33 if your interested I can show ya some more flowy stuff up at Glassy, I know my way thru quite a few fun tracks that don't follow the beaten to death powerline tracks. Have you got a PM link or ??
@@deancooper5513 I looked in to it but looks like can't PM on you tube and don't have any other socials at the mo. Drop me a message on motomark33@gmail.com if you want. Always keen to meet up and ride 👍✊
If you love the free flowing there’s a spot I go to in beerwah forest it’s on my channel (old video I’m faster rider now) but I can send you where it is if your interested
@@ericchristian6276 I don't mate, only my personal FB account, maybe I need to look into it. I watched your video, seems similar to the east side of the Bruce highway. I did a video on a ride there a while back in Sept 2021. Is that a YZ250, I rode one of those for a few years a while ago, love the strokers but I love my thumper more these days 😄✊
Good video, you got through some tricky places. seems all the rain we had has changed alot of those hilly trails .. I hit the same line in the climb at 6:40 last week 😊
I was running yamalube full synthetic, the dealer said to change to semi which is what they used for all bikes except the sports bikes. I changed to semi for a few oil changes before replacing the clutch but didn't work but maybe it wasn't the oil. Going to stick with semi going forward.
I hear you mate, and generally agree. I love these events though as one way traffic so you can ride without worrying about what's coming round the corner :-)
Hi mate, It did, worked really well at RTCB ride but was quite flowing. Didn’t have any stalling issues. Will likely go for ride in GHM this weekend and give it a real another test in some technical stuff. Will let you know.
Hey Bill, I had a YZ450FX in America. Pretty much the same bike and loved it. I thought they sold the WR450F there too, if not I agree they should. Lived in Utah for a few years. The riding there was the best I have ever ridden.
I just test rode a 2008 WR450F today. It has HILARIOUS POWER. As in HOOLIGAN amounts of power. Absolutely ridiculous fun. Gets very hot quickly though, even with a fan installed. In addition, I also rode a WR250, back-to-back. The 250 felt like it could the same things and more than the 450, although albeit with much less power, but still very fun also. I'm torn between the 2 as they're both the same price. Hilarious, hooliganish fun at the expense of fine control in the tight, stuff? Or sure-fire all-around weapon, at the expense of high-speeds on the road (and fast trails)?
Both great bikes mate. In my opinion it comes down to type of rider you are. As you say 250 can do everything the 450 can but if you prefer fewer gear changes and lugging the motor with great power through the rev range it’s the 450. If you don’t mind shifting more and using more revs the 250 will be great. Also the 450 will wear you out quicker so if you like riding all day maybe 250. In the tight stuff the 450 can work with good throttle and clutch but will be less forgiving if you get it wrong and again tire you out quicker. If tight stuff all day is your thing, I would consider a 300 two stroke. Good luck mate.
Hi Bud great ride love some of those tracks are you happy with the 450 or do you wish you got something small for the glass house how does it lug I'm looking at getting the 2021, 450 and tossing where to go a 300 whatever instead talk soon Marcio
Hey Marcio, I am really happy with it, ideally would have a 300 in addition (how nice would that be). I have never wanted anything but the 450 in Glasshouse but honestly still exploring that place. The only place I have wanted a 300 is riding In Amamoor with my mate that looks for gnarly stuff (doing pivot turns and finding traction on off camber big slippery hills) and the only reason then is a little bit weight but mostly clutch control and avoiding flame outs. I am still working with maps to see if I can get ride if the flame outs though so will see. Bike lugs brilliantly and can really change low down character with the tuner app to smooth out throttle response. Thing is I am all up for a challenging climb but don’t really want the whole ride to be that hard enduro style 1st and 2nd gear only. If I did I would get the 300 for sure. For me 3rd gear flowing with some tough challenges is my happy place and where the WR shines, and I wouldn’t have any other bike in this scenario. My most recent video was an organised ride on private land, the best thing is traffic is one way so you can push and it was awesome. I will be looking to do some more of these events. Any hope that helps. 👍✊
Hi Mark sure did than man what do you mean about flame outs - (stalling) ? I used to do pretty gnarly stuff But over it a bit you would ride for 40min and do 4 km after a while it becomes, fk I just want to ride Also me NOT being graham jarvis the bike would get bashed about and so would I I cant do it anymore FK my knee 👨🦯doing it big time and at 59 I still think Im 21 🤣🤣 which is a good thing but have to watch my knee now I like the same sort of riding you where doing a bit of everything nothing 2 out there but heaps more fun I think Have you done any mods bike?? like the box and throttle with that screw and sprocket ?? I was thinking doing the air box and screw mod and going down 1 tooth on the front to give it more low down punch ?? not sure about the last one sprocket talk soon Marcio
@@ozbiker5311 Hey Marcio, First off so awesome to hear you still at it dude 👍✊ Flame outs are essentially stalls but to be more specific they are rolling stalls, happens when you are moving slow and just get on the gas and don’t have enough revs and bike stalls and back wheel locks up. It’s annoying because body position is forward anticipating acceleration and you get the opposite 😁. Only happens when I start getting tired in gnarly stuff when clutch hand is fading. Mods wise. I have gone overboard in the past on bikes and decided to keep it fairly simple now. Saves weight and I don’t think a lot of the stuff I had before is needed. Kept the stock sump guard and hand guards, benefits to not having wrap around hand guards is less risk to hurting a wrist. It has a full pipe, taller seat for easier transition seated to standing, Steg Pegz, GTYR radiator braces and guards. And go faster graphics 😂😂 and will probably put tubliss in the rear when I change the tyre and mouse in the front. If you mean uncorking it by air box and screw mod then yes. (Also need to open pipe but as I said I have completely new pipe.) I would NOT go down a tooth on front sprocket, it’s already got loads of low down punch. Almost too much. Also I would hate shorter gears. If anything I would try a one tooth bigger front sprocket to make gears a bit longer. The bike has loads of power and a really low first gear ratio and would easily handle it. Also the tuner really makes a difference. I have been playing with it to soften it in first 1/4 throttle and works great and helps with traction as I come on to throttle. Anyway mate. Lots there. Hope it helps and I see you out there. Mark
I know mate, it was annoying the crap out of me. Would be awesome if you didn't need to pick your way through a bush all the time, end of ride was better but go pro died by then. Hope to see you out there soon..
Hey mate. I actually parked just behind Hungry Jacks (west side next to highway) on Johnston Road exit (the one for Wild Horse Point Lookout) and then rode bike over the bridge which is where video starts 👍
@@motomark33 ah right.. yeah I know where you are... I ride a 21 wr450 myself mate... @@ltxwindsurfing5026 Will definitely pull up if I see you there. The Garmin has the roads and I think the lookout, to be honest I way point my base and then go ride, can generally find my way. The more tracks I ride the better the Garmin map fills out 😄I need to do some more riding on the west side, maybe my next ride, was in Amamoor a couple days ago.
Yeah, I just it to track rides and log waypoints so I can ride an area and know where trails start and end, works pretty well, bigger screen would be better of course but it all compromise. It doesn'tget in my way at all and for price I am happy with it.
It's winter here in the US and the ground has been covered in snow for a couple months. This video has me dreaming of warmer days. Nice riding! Thanks for sharing
Thanks mate, obviously depends on how heavy on the throttle, I reckon I could get 100kms or so, service again is dependant, I find service intervals are more for road riding, for dirt I generally do air filter when needed but probably every 3 rides or so but could do it after 1 ride if I sat in a lot of dust... Oil is generally every 8-10 hours, its super easy to do.. It's a Yamaha though, I bet you could stretch that out significantly and would be okay, super tough and reliable bikes.
@@motomark33 that’s great to know. Thanks for getting back to me. I have a CR500 at the moment but need something I don’t have to flog all the time around the trails. Keeping the 500 of course. Cheers 👍🇦🇺
Hey Steve, I have ridden a couple of KTM's (500 and 450), both had some $'s spent on setting them up (especially suspension) but were great to ride. I find the Yamie feels more lively and has more punch (or snap) especially low down, the KTM's seemed more linear (Calm) build of power (especially the 500), both still got loads but I prefer the Yamaha. Suspension on the Yamaha is awesome too, at least for me. I love the fact that Yamaha is ready to roll as is, everyone I know who has a KTM or Husky does the suspension ($'s) at a minimum. What do you ride? Ever been to Utah? Some great trails out there. Mark
@@motomark33 Hey, Mark, I have been out of riding for 10 plus years (Family). I'm a former enduro racer. My last bike was a ktm exc 400. Nice bike. It had the calm power band like the 500 you described. Now I'm think of getting the ktm 500 or the Yamaha 450. I'm intrigued by the Yamaha because of its modern build. The Yamaha is about 10 pounds heavier than the ktm. Do you feel that or does the gas tank positioning hide the extra weight? Does the air intake sound bother you at all. The Yamaha seems very flickable for a 450...it that the case?. I have not ridden Utah but I did ride the Colorado 500 some years back. It was beautiful. I love it but west! Steve from Ohio. I did live in Steamboat springs Colorado for a time but back in Ohio now. Thanks!
@@stevenburton7922 I do find the Yamaha very flickable but also very stable and predictable at speed. I had a YZ450FX when I was in Utah and did the Idaho 100 (you probably know it) and it was the perfect bike for it. (for me). Its why I got the WR450F when I got to Australia (you have to be road legal in Australia to ride on public land). The air intake has never bothered me... if you can a find someone renting out bikes and you can get one for the day it would probably be worth it, that's what I did way back and never looked back.
@@motomark33 Mark with the reverse cylinder and lower gas tank does the Yamaha feel to light in the front on a flat berm less corner or does the front stick pretty well for you? Can you find a map the is smooth enough for muddy slimy conditions? I know the motocross version of the Yamaha is a rocket ship...I was wondering if the wr power was able to be tuned to deal with slow slimy conditions. Thanks, Mark!
Hey Thomas, it depends on what you are planning to ride, may be difficult to answer if you are just starting out and really I don't think its a good beginner bike. It has a lot of power and small throttle openings make a big difference so its really important to have good throttle and clutch control when riding single track or anything challenging. Trouble is when starting out a lot of things are challenging 😄, and it's easy to fall behind the bike and grab throttle by mistake and this bike is not forgiving, none of the 450's will be in my opinion. I think the stock suspension on WR is awesome (at least for me) and the bike chases and set up works well again for me. If you have spent some time on the YZ250 the question is if you like the two stroke or want the 4 stroke, both have benefits and I have had both but am quicker on the 4 stroke... I think a great bike to start on that will take you a really long way is the WR250F (2016 or later). I hope that helps..
Is the air intake noise up by the bars irritating? Or does it sound like any other bike while riding? Your microphone might.be exaggerating the affect but that sucking sound seems loud. Beautiful bike by the way! Cool video!...Steve from Ohio, USA.
To be honest I don't really notice it, like you say just like any other bike when riding but my focus is on the track 😄. I spent some time in Utah over past few years, some great riding out there if you ever get the chance. What do you ride?
@@motomark33 I will be getting back into riding in the near future. It's been 20 years since I have been riding. One of my last rides back then was the Colorado 500 trail ride. It was glorious. I know what you mean about riding out west. I'm looking at the Yamaha wr's and Ktm's. Thanks for the feedback!
