Fun day dirt bike riding exploring new singles in glasshouse mountains. Kept to the east side of Bruce Highway, interestingly it's much flatter and more sandy than the west side but still a bunch of fun.

It's winter here in the US and the ground has been covered in snow for a couple months. This video has me dreaming of warmer days. Nice riding! Thanks for sharing

Thanks mate, I pretty much only use the Garmin to track routes and throw in some key waypoints at this stage.

I just test rode a 2008 WR450F today. It has HILARIOUS POWER. As in HOOLIGAN amounts of power. Absolutely ridiculous fun. Gets very hot quickly though, even with a fan installed. In addition, I also rode a WR250, back-to-back. The 250 felt like it could the same things and more than the 450, although albeit with much less power, but still very fun also. I'm torn between the 2 as they're both the same price. Hilarious, hooliganish fun at the expense of fine control in the tight, stuff? Or sure-fire all-around weapon, at the expense of high-speeds on the road (and fast trails)?

Both great bikes mate. In my opinion it comes down to type of rider you are. As you say 250 can do everything the 450 can but if you prefer fewer gear changes and lugging the motor with great power through the rev range it’s the 450. If you don’t mind shifting more and using more revs the 250 will be great. Also the 450 will wear you out quicker so if you like riding all day maybe 250. In the tight stuff the 450 can work with good throttle and clutch but will be less forgiving if you get it wrong and again tire you out quicker. If tight stuff all day is your thing, I would consider a 300 two stroke. Good luck mate.

wondering how easy the 450 is to throw around in singletracks, I ride a lot of ringtail near you and am thinking of getting a wr450f in the near future

Hey mate, single track is my happy place and I absolutely love the 450. I had a YZ450FX in America for a couple years and the WR is essentially the same bike. I would say you need to be an experienced rider otherwise it may be a bit of a handful and its happier on flowing 2nd, 3rd gear stuff and faster. Is a super stable bike. If you looking at full days on more technical hard enduro stuff its a bit more of a handful but still gets through it all. I went from 2 stroke to 4 stroke about 4 years ago and haven't looked back. But that's me 🙂

Hey Bill, I had a YZ450FX in America. Pretty much the same bike and loved it. I thought they sold the WR450F there too, if not I agree they should. Lived in Utah for a few years. The riding there was the best I have ever ridden.

I just bought a wr450f from a kid a month ago so they are around. More expensive than a yz tho and not nearly as many around.

Is the air intake noise up by the bars irritating? Or does it sound like any other bike while riding? Your microphone might.be exaggerating the affect but that sucking sound seems loud. Beautiful bike by the way! Cool video!...Steve from Ohio, USA.

To be honest I don't really notice it, like you say just like any other bike when riding but my focus is on the track 😄. I spent some time in Utah over past few years, some great riding out there if you ever get the chance. What do you ride?

@@motomark33 I will be getting back into riding in the near future. It's been 20 years since I have been riding. One of my last rides back then was the Colorado 500 trail ride. It was glorious. I know what you mean about riding out west. I'm looking at the Yamaha wr's and Ktm's. Thanks for the feedback!

Would you recommend this bike for a beginner? The most I’ve ridden is a 125 pit bike and a bit on a yz250
@motomark33
@motomark33 2 года назад
Hey Thomas, it depends on what you are planning to ride, may be difficult to answer if you are just starting out and really I don't think its a good beginner bike. It has a lot of power and small throttle openings make a big difference so its really important to have good throttle and clutch control when riding single track or anything challenging. Trouble is when starting out a lot of things are challenging 😄, and it's easy to fall behind the bike and grab throttle by mistake and this bike is not forgiving, none of the 450's will be in my opinion. I think the stock suspension on WR is awesome (at least for me) and the bike chases and set up works well again for me. If you have spent some time on the YZ250 the question is if you like the two stroke or want the 4 stroke, both have benefits and I have had both but am quicker on the 4 stroke... I think a great bike to start on that will take you a really long way is the WR250F (2016 or later). I hope that helps..

Great video mate. Iam looking at getting a new WR450F this year. What’s the fuel range and service intervals like?
@motomark33
@motomark33 2 года назад
Thanks mate, obviously depends on how heavy on the throttle, I reckon I could get 100kms or so, service again is dependant, I find service intervals are more for road riding, for dirt I generally do air filter when needed but probably every 3 rides or so but could do it after 1 ride if I sat in a lot of dust... Oil is generally every 8-10 hours, its super easy to do.. It's a Yamaha though, I bet you could stretch that out significantly and would be okay, super tough and reliable bikes.

Yeah, I just it to track rides and log waypoints so I can ride an area and know where trails start and end, works pretty well, bigger screen would be better of course but it all compromise. It doesn'tget in my way at all and for price I am happy with it.

@motomark33 2 года назад
Don't do much of the hard enduro stuff, bits and pieces of hard sections in rides. Overall I love the WR but would take 300 2-Stroke if that's what I rode most of the time, just to save some energy (weight) and they are much better low down at avoiding stalling. There is a video of Amamoor on my channel which was some pretty tough tracks, even my mate on 300 sherco was struggling, you should check that place out if that's what you like to ride 👍

So I staged just behind the hungry jacks as you exit the M1 (northbound) at the Wild Horse Mountain Lookout exit. Open field/space behind it. Then I rode across the M1 (going east) and road turned to dirt and its a few meters down the road the video starts. Let me know if you ever want to meet up for a ride, I reckon there is still more exploring to do round there 😄👍
