Sorry you were banking everything on a submarine build! It quickly became apparent that a submarine wouldn't be worth the effort as our focus turned to the stars. If you'd like to build one, I'd love to check it out :)

greetings. just me thinking out loud,but, is there room for 2 cargo containers inline on the bottom? u could extend the landing legs and with that conector u could add 2 or 3 drills facing front. just a thought. great videos. cannt wait to see the boat/ship finished

There is a script on workshop allowing rotors to follow the sun. Quite handy for solar array setup.

Howdy Josh, that was an interesting color you chose as the grind color.....i was assuming your choice was going to be a bright pink or vibrant purple, maybe a baby shit yellow, never expected a bland grey... anyway, lol, keep the videos coming

Comment attempt #2 I don't recall you naming the cargo ship you captured. It kinda looks like the larval stage of something. Maybe name it The Larvae ? Don't forget to finish the rear wall of the Pucker. Leaving that Med-bay exposed, especially during combat, is a recipe for disaster.

There a mod that works with the repair and gring one but it like the one you got but use robots that cost space credits but can also defend your base its call aienable its looks like a medbay but but spawn bots like one with guns or repair and grind but make sure to not use repair or grind take too long but will be good in case base gets boreded or your ship

I used that one on my main survival series for a while! However, the bots were so lazy and would just not do anything for hours at a time so I fired them 😉

Don't just measure how far out the thruster flames reach, actually place blocks in their path to verify how far out damage is being done. I think you'd be safe with a 3-block gap for Large Ion thrusters. It's the large hydrogen thrusters that need like a 6-block gap. Ship name: The Pucker. Not only does it look like it's trying to pucker up ready for a kiss, but with the compliment of weapons you've placed on it, it'll cause any enemy's backside to pucker to their seat. "Too many turrets" is not a phrase commonly used in SE, especially when it comes to base defense situations, so adding more to both ships wouldn't be a complete waste of time.

Yeah, I was thinking about that after recording but then I realized I'm not really planning to be moving around too much 🤔 So as long as it can stop me near the space base, all should be good! Pucker is great because it also looks ugly as butt 🤣

FYI, you can set a color ( some color you would never paint with ) and use the grind color option in the build and repairs , leave them set to weld 1st then grind, paint whatever you want ground down that color you set as grind color and well, that color you chose gets eaten To pirate easier, basically anything that has computers, ya grind it and go back after everything is below the hack and then rebuild the control seat, check all over-rides, take ownership, then you can weld back whatever.

One 'Scenario winning strategy' I saw described was to get Zone Chips from a Trader that deals in them, and build a Safe Zone around the beacon/base you have to defend. You'd need enough Zone Chips and enough Uranium for the reactor powering the Safe Zone, to last through 100 waves. Another idea would be to build a large enough ship made entirely of heavy armor/blast door blocks, and park it over the beacon/base. Go overkill with the turrets on it, then with 'Build & Repair' maintaining everything, you'd fend off attacks for a long while. I chuckled a bit when this idea hit me, even if it wouldn't actually work. Imagine using a gravity generator that was built upside down and set to max grav, just to mess with the orientation of the attackers. If the attacking drones aren't built to have gravity compensating thrust in all directions, it might be possible to cause them to crash when gravity pulls them in an unexpected direction. If you do go with the heavy armor shell idea, build it as 2 layers with a gap between. A damaged/distorted outer layer can't affect the inner layer since they're not touching. Not sure which would survive longer, heavy armor blocks or blast door blocks.

Haha a gravity weapon sounds amazing. Safe zones sound like cheating just a bit 😉 I'm hoping an AI fleet of ships and drones can have enough fire power to just brute force our way through ❤️ If push comes to shove, we can definitely add in more strategies and even mods 🔥

Love the series, i hope it comes back soon! Just finished watching it last night. I have some pointers that may make things easier. instead of using groups for turning your ship tools (such as drills) on and off, you can use the "Block tools" section to use them like you would if they were hand tools, holding LMB to drill and mine ore and stone, and RMB to clear space. Also when placing structures and blocks you can use "b" to orientate them to a planet's gravity well.

Thanks for the comment! I recently tried that out in the Never Surrender mini series we're doing and it was quite nice 😂 Gonna do that moving forward :) There's a lot of small tips like "b orienting blocks to p gravity" that I'm still unlearned it. Heck, I still just hit random buttons to orient the block to begin with 🤣 I need to do a play session where I intentionally figure out everything I'm still missing :)

I suggest adjusting down the strength of the connector's magnetism so they don't cause their own damage like they did this episode. I just read up on the scenario. You should be good to search closer to the base for resources, it's when you get like 100 meters away that it triggers the start of the "waves". Get a lot more cobalt, then you can encase the beacon in several layers of heavy armor in addition to defensive weapons. Since you'll have to bring everything you need for defense, maybe add a few more large cargo containers to the ship to ensure you bring enough. The description indicates the waves are only minutes apart (2, 5, 10? who knows), so you likely won't have time to mine for more if it isn't within like 2K of the base unless you build a swarm of defense drones to defend while you're away. Beyond that, all I can say is Good Luck! 🙂

I turned down the magnetism shortly after that incident :) If it's just a small beacon, encasing it in a heavy armor bubble might be a genius idea! Yeah, I'm not expecting any mining runs once things get started! We'll bring absolutely everything we might think we'll need and stockpile excessive amounts of as much as we can!

A few more solar panels would greatly help with the power situation and is not dependent on trips to the ice mines which in turn costs a lot of power to convey back and forth. As always just a suggestion as its your playthrough ( you screw the cat, i'll hold the tail). LOL

I wish solar wasn't so weak. I might remake the solar array to be much larger. Or a large grid mining ship for ice. One of the two for sure :)

You mentioned adding the shield mod, but you already have a mod / device you can use to disable specific components you target. The build and repairs can be modified to have longer range and target specific classes of components ( ie... power blocks, weapons, ect. ) easy to figure out how to set them up. can set the range at like 1200m or whatever, and target weapons then just maintain a distance they can't shoot you but the build and repair will " defang " them.

I hadn't thought of that strategy! The base mod range is limited to 150 but can be adjusted in the world files. Might not be a bad idea at all!

If you don't want to add an expanded ore detector mod you can use subrids to attach a large grid ore detector to your small grid ship

1. Maybe while in gravity, use merge blocks to help stabilize the piston connector arm for the mining ship, unless you're considering doing away with the pistons part of it on the Salamander. 2. Jump Gate might not be working because it needs more power, and/or too close to the planet. Maybe add more power to the station since it doesn't have "unlimited" power like Serenity Station. Same as with the Jump Drives, even if the guage indicates 0.00g P-gravity, it might be you're still in gravity that's just too low for the guage to register (ie 0.004 and rounding the number just shows 0.00). Test this with a Jump Drive on the Salamander. If the Salamander can't jump while in the same proximity to the planet, maybe move the gate another 2-5K further away. Reading up on the mod, it looks like it doesn't work on multi-player servers (if you're on one), except for the server host, but nobody else. There's the initial power just to turn it on, but then it takes even more power to actually jump, and the further it is to the receiving gate, the more power is required. I hope you get it resolved, I'd like to see you able to do some "Galaxy Hopping".

Unless it got edited out, you didn't move iron to the front of the refinery que, so it's still working on other ores. You pointed out the advantages of making a small-grid ship from just a few of the large-grid ship's components, but one of the more noticeable disadvantages will be the reduced range of the small-grid ore detector. Since you're trying to get some of the basics established before heading to the base you have to defend, be sure to refine all the ores needed for making ammo. Never played this scenario so I don't know how much time between waves you'll have, but you may not have time to make many ore runs, so having lots pre-refined on-hand for a base assembler to use will likely be very helpful. Maybe the ones that designed this scenario took this into consideration and it wouldn't be possible, but if it doesn't start til you get to, or close to the base, what's stopping you from collecting everything needed to set up a reactor and a shield generator as soon as you get there? Might help with surviving longer, unless you feel that would be a "cheat exploit".

It was a lot of footage so it likely got edited out :) I'll double check to make sure, tho! Yeah I'll make sure we're good and stocked up on ammo before we go in. We'll need some uranium for our big artillery guns too that I'm planning on :) As far as a shield generator goes, the run is currently vanilla and I'm gonna try and keep it that way for now. Maybe after our first attempt, we'll enhance the scenario with some mods. I for sure think some build and repair modules would go a long way for keeping our weapons up and running!

this series was decent until you started up with the boat ive scanned and mostly skipped every episode since episode 4 looking forward to when you ditch this crap planet and head back up into space mods ruin my enjoyment of this game pretty much every time

That maiden run for the attack ship was a bit too easy, but quite successful. I was thinking of suggesting you name it opera... because when that fat lady sings, it's all over... but perhaps another trial run is needed, one a bit more of a challenge. It kinda looks a bit like the front of an attack helicopter, with all the weapons mounted in the wings and in the nose, it's just missing the tail rotor section.

To reduce the "shivering" of the solar array, reduce the rotor/hinge torque and braking torque settings a bit, and drop the 'Velocity Multiplier' for both in the turret controller from 9 to like 1 or 2. Since you're on a planet that seems Earth-like, build a swimming pool in or next to the building. Size it to use the largest single rectangle window (unless you can get a 'seamless look' using multiple windows) with the tint side facing in to give the appearance of completely still water. As for "industry" in that building, at least place enough to have a fully working med bay. A separate building or a side-wing on that building for the full industry to not only refuel the Salamander, but to also build up your ingots and components inventory. Treat it like a giant "loft apartment" for the living space. All open design, (bedroom/living room/kitchen/etc) with no walled off rooms except for the bathroom/shower.

I wish I could still play this game but the lack of good multiplayer servers that are either not heavy modified/modded and stable/populated is moslty non existance. Ive played solo but I cant anymore what truly is missing in this game is a Rust like pve-pvp experience on populated servers....

You forgot about you big ice grabbing on planet and ya items count to sim speed , can be ore ,ice , parts , but mostly ice , I had to dump alot out because I had mass amount of it 😆

Not only automatically turn off the probe's thrusters when connected, but also turn off the antenna and anything else you don't want/need running while connected. That planet with the rings looked interesting as you were approaching the system. If there is a mod to extend the range of jump drives, then the existing 6 would get you further and save you from building more. Now I'm curious about the "flagship" you briefly mentioned.

I was turning off the thrusters just so we didn't have the probe fighting the bee swarm again 😉 Yeah if this larger planet doesn't work out, I'll be happy to check that one out as well! Or even build an interconnected network between all 3 planets! The flagship idea is just a glimmer of an idea thus far but I think there's some magic to work with in my head. Stay tuned!
