I would love to see this in person. Ben Gordon, also an ancestor of mine, was a young member of the Dickenson-Gordon party to California in 1846. He did some of the carpentry on this building. It's so amazing that this still exists.
I graduated from Japanese in 1980 and was then assigned to Tokyo. During my time in Tokyo my unit had two much money in their funds so they gave me a large sum if money to study one-on-one conversation study, about 450 hours. DLI did good but the time at Berlitz built on that. I left the Army in 1989 and started working for a Japanese company and retired 10 years ago. I still live in Tokyo at age 71.
Why is the train closed? I remember climbing on it all the time when babye went there. Climb up on the roof, climb the sides of the engine, etc. Fun times.
The best way to remove the paper bag is to stop selling them and put a sign on the door, "bring own bag" and sell re usable bags...but still people will forget them and buy more and more and more and they will just start tossing those too.. the issue isn't the Bags..the issue is wasteful People.

What a sweet nod to the history of California's Monterey area. Gallant Duncan Dickenson was my 3rd Great Grandfather. He and my 2nd Great Grandfather Amos Giles Lawrey used a technique brought with them from back east, to craft their red bricks. They actually patented the process. The home was finished in 1847. It is located at Duncan Dickenson House, 351 Decatur Street, Monterey, Monterey County, CA but unfortunately this beautiful architectural piece of history is falling into a state of disrepair. I'm hoping someone will step up and find a way to fund the renovation of this house before it turns to dust. The last time I saw it, I couldn't help but to weep. Thank you for doing this wonderful little video on all of the historical places in that charming area. I know Gallant would appreciate your efforts. I sure do. Sincerely, B. E. B.
