Wonder if the drag coefficient is the same as Teflon as it is for your carbonized polymerization. I'm assuming that you carbonized polymerization from the oils sinks into the pores of the stainless steel pan and makes it smooth. On stainless steel there's a 2-3 nanometer thick coating of chromium oxide. Maybe that's mixing with your oils to create almost a chromium oxidized carbonized matrix.
i see some are thrilled with your video.........BORING TO ME,,,,,,,,,,a 23 minute video could have been 7 or8 minutes,,,,,,,,if you didn't spend time like showing the filter against a white wall........explaining the few drops of water on the o ring.........etc..........all i want to know is HOW YOU CLEAN IT. LIKE YOUR CLICK BAIT SAID.........ALL THIS EXTRA JIBBER JABBER AND SLOW TALK LIKE YOU'RE TALKING TO A 5TH GRADER.........JUST MY OPINION.........BUT I COULDN'T MAKE THE WHOLE VIDEO...........FRUSTRATION...........
Thank you for this excellent video. I learned a lot and do have whole house, double larger filters that need to be replaced 3 times a year. Since I am on city water I don't have your problem with iron, however my filter cartridges [one at 1 micron and the initial other one at 20 microns] do get dark over time. Does oxalic acid work on non-ferrous city water, which does contain dirt and other stuff? Should I seek out some other compound instead of oxalic acid? Thanks again, even though I am late to discovering your channel. Cheers!
Hi, is this filter set up for iron in your water? If so, what kind of iron? How many GPM is your filter and do you have a name and model number for it? Great video!
This is so awesome. Just got one for my 4Runner while I save up for a longterm front bumper + winch. Main thing I'm looking for now is a loooooong winch extension rope (ask me why I know that I need this) and the basic rigging. Hoping to never need a winch after last time, but since I'm a total idiot, I'm sure I eventually will
I pre rinse the pleated filter with a pressure washer, from a distance that won’t damage it. It’s unbelievable how much orange sediment those pleats hold. Then soak in the oxalic acid. Then, using a spare sump with cap, back flush the filter running water in the “out” opening. Works fabulous. Then just air dry out in the sun. Thanks for showing your method. Here’s my modification of your technique: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u4d-trBk_BM.htmlsi=gLiCDduIml7eJe3c
Just found your video, even 7 years later, and this is by far the best video I have seen regarding replacing and cleaning a whole house filter. Thank you so much!!!
Try putting them in an old plastic milk crate to do this job. Works great. But I usually run over them fist with the riding lawn mower tires to get the nuts out of the husks first. Then power wash them. A lot less mess.
That stupid driver should let his wheels go free as by powering them he is digging in the ground further and making it more difficult for the puller. He should free his wheels and let the puller pull as much as possible till be gets off the loose ground and then send power to his wheels. He should have known that .
Great video ! It may have been easier to anchor the winch to the tree directly behind where you drove spikes into the ground. A simple heavy anchor strap would suffice. Also hand signals to someone on the winch would allow one to cut only and saves time running back and forth.
I understand the use of acid but one can simply use a phosphoric acid. You can easily neutralize the acid in the filter with sodium bicarbonate. You waste too much water in the process. It's unnecessary.
Tie 2 old car tires to each end so if the cable/rope breaks it slows down the "whipping" of the cable that was under tension. Seen a man killed once by that and his wife and child watched it to. It works incredibly well.
Im thinking maybe 5 min.s in baking soda water and install a T to flush the filter for a bit before going to the house. But thanks Im going to install a prefilter and use the old ones in the prefilter.
Those same re-usable filters on Amazon are now $42.00 USD! ... Not financially worth it anymore. I'm buying the disposable paper ones every 4 months for $4 each. Mine did last 4 years though!... but with the Oxylic acid cost and hassle... not worth it anymore.
ANYONE call me on BS on this one. But now you're drinking more BPAs out of the globe using acid on the unknown plastic the globe it is made out of. Plus, how does the acid react with what ever the filter is made from? I don't really know, buit I have had organic and inorganic chemistry, and i'm not sure how this acid he is using reacts withthe materials he is cleaning. email me if you know for sure. I really want to know. Seriously want to know, I'm not being a smart ass. Really. I mak be really wrong. - JC - Email me if you know.
