Weight? Leave the waterproof bags in the panniers. Get a couple of the canvas shopping bags and put the things you take into a motel in those bags. When camping, they can be used as hand towels, placemats for meals, and, of course, shopping bags. When camping on hard or rocky ground, they can be filled with rocks or whatever and used to stretch out vestibules on a tent. Optionally, or in conjunction with, you could use the heavy plastic shopping bags you sometimes get when shopping. They are lighter and pack smaller.

I run the r3 stich as well. I've had good luck with putting it in the right leg pocket or in the bottom of the wallet pocket. Biggest reason I would say have it on you is if you have an accident it a lot easier to grap from a pocket then where ever the bike ends up. Thanks for all the videos!!

Dave so what is did you like about the new bike and or not like compared to the GS 1250?
@KendallAdventureandTravel
@KendallAdventureandTravel 9 дней назад
Stephen, Well I love the GS/A, and I do mean that. But if you are looking to pound out big miles the K1600 does that better. The K 1600 has an overall amazing seating position, not seat, but seating position. I rode this 1500 mile day and never once was I sore or knees or back hurt. Also in the same area, the wind protection on the K bike is much better. With the adjustable windshield and side vents you can move air to different places on your body. GSA: Its so versatile, it does everything you can ask well, but not great. Pounding out miles alone on an Interstate or Highway there are better motorcycles for that. Dave

@@KendallAdventureandTravel Dave: Thanks for the videos, love them and please keep them coming. Regarding your lighting set up......Is your plan run the "upper" yellow lights 100% of the time? And if so, are those primary for you to be seen? When do you plan to use the lower white lights? Are they switched separately or connected to your high beam?
@KendallAdventureandTravel
@KendallAdventureandTravel 22 дня назад
@@waltermitty7452 The thing with Clearwater lights, they use what they call an EZ Can, it connects into the BMW wire harness so they are controllable with the stock BMW switches. From the factory they are set to run at 30% intensity on low beam and 100% at high beam. Years ago I bought them for my first GSA thinking they would be great at night, but they do such a great job at making my self " Seen" that they are just as important during the day as they are at night. I still leave the OEM BMW lights on as well. You can switch them off easily if you for some reason do not want them on...Dave

Dave, I use both as well. I like both. You’re right that the bag system on the Moskomoto is not user friendly. I ended up taking the whole bag into the hotel rather than removing the inner. I never thought about using a different inner bag, I have a set of BMW inner bags for the hard cases, I’m gonna try that. The Lonerider, are easier to pack, because of the more rigid design, and yes the molle on top is backward in my opinion! I wonder, how much weight the 5litre Lonerider bags can handle, and will it cause the main Lonerider bag to distort, with too much weight in the 5 litre bags?
@KendallAdventureandTravel
@KendallAdventureandTravel 28 дней назад
I remember reading on the Lone Rider website that the that 5 L bags were not intended to hold the weight of a tool kit, heck that was packing plan, so id say the weight is less than an average tool kit? Those molle straps are just small...Thanks for watching...Dave

Gees American road designers have got it all wrong if you need to install an extra fuel cell on your bike. Australia is practically the same size as America, yet we have petrol (gas) stations situated every 250kms apart. You'll never run our of fuel here in Australia.

@KendallAdventureandTravel
@KendallAdventureandTravel Месяц назад
I will plumb it the same as I have done my last 2 BMW's, I keep it very simple. As far as vapor lock, I had that happen to me once, during the 2023 IBR while using a Keg style tank that was mounted on the passenger seat. It was in the sun 24/7 direct heat and got very hot. This style of tank, with a Pelican case or some type of box on top, doesn't get the direct heat and I have not had any issue with vapor lock. Probably 60K in miles testing and no issues....Dave

Coincidentally, I just wired in my PDM-60 to run various farkels. It too requires +12v switched as a trigger pulse. If you remove the rear seat, you'll see the round connector for your top case. There will be 6 wires going into it. The red/black wire is switched 12v and you can very easily tap into that for your trigger. The PDM-60 is programmable but I am leaving it at the factory defaults. Right now I am running 12v for a RD and 12v for a voltage sentry. So I have 4 more +12v sources for future add-ons; all of varying amp rating. I mounted it under the rear seat for easy access. Plenty of room. I may wire in a rear running light next week. Good luck. Joe
