Welcome to Grass Roots Gardening! Want to learn to grow your own food? Looking for gardening tips & hacks? Landscaping ideas? Interested in composting? If you're a fan of plants, you’ve come to the right place.
I'm Ryan, and I’m glad you’re here! I'm a plant nerd with a big passion for gardening. I have 20+ years experience in the horticulture field, but I’m learning new things every day. Whether you're a seasoned green-thumbed gardener, or a gardening noob who isn't sure where to start, I try to share content to satisfy the plant lover in all of us. There's a little something for everyone!
Although this is a #gardeningchannel, I love to share videos of our exotic birds, and a travel vlog here & there, too.
Please be sure to subscribe to my channel - we have a whole lot of fun around here! Now, let’s go get our hands dirty.
My hydrangea is in shade mostly. It hasn't flowered for 3 years. My soil is alkaline. Do you have any suggestions? I transplanted it from the first place I planted it 3 or 4 years ago. It was a Mother's Day gift from my daughter. Your video is great! Thank you so much.
Newbie question so please be kind - lol If I have 5 clumps of bare roots with no stems but great roots, will they grow? Or will I be better off propagating the cuttings I took? Also, I took 10 cuttings off the mother plant (not intentionally, just kept slipping when trying to cut) should I plant those each in one hole or will that cause 10 new plants to grow in one place? 😂😂
Now you have 8,001 subscribers! Thank you for showing us how to propagate hydrangeas. I love their deep, beautiful color. my animals never do anything on video either lol! I also loved how you explained about your hydrangeas because you had to take the tree down and you have to prop up your gutter, because this is life it’s not perfect. Thank you for your channel.
If you needed to add water, approximately how much would you subject the cutting to? Great video! I’ve had decent luck with hydrangeas, but am always unsure amount the amount of moisture needed.
Nice to see your dad out there with you Ryan so when you get caught up this winter are you going to do a podcast with your dad i believe that would be interesting
Garden looks great Ryan. I’m hoping to have corn ready by the 4th. I’ll be down in Aiken tomorrow grabbing some semi tires. If we have any extra time I am going to try and visit the garden center.
Garden look great. We use natural neem oil.diluted and spray our tomato plants with them if we see a tomato hornworm. It will wipe them out in a.couple.of hours.
I still think your garden looks amazing!! So glad to see how well your father is doing!! Thanks for sharing ... morning watching both your videos lol thanks 😊
Well greetings from the great Pacific Northwest, Lakewood, Washington (think South of icky Seattle!) So happy I stumbled upon you. I've only watched 2 of your videos so far but clicked subscribe. I love your content and personality. What a cool nursery you have... I look forward to discovering more of it as I watch more videos. Blessings to you all there from way over here! 💛🖤💛 Stacy
I grew some cuttings last year from different parent plants. To help me remember which ones were which I cut the leaves at different shapes: straight across, angled, chevron, etc. so I could tell later what colors each were.
