Looking to add some low-growing perennials to your garden? Join me as I plant some gorgeous Proven Winners Dianthus! Here in South Carolina, the deer seem to eat everything, so I'm always on the hunt for deer resistant perennials like these. These 'Paint the Town Magenta' Dianthus and 'Orange Crush' Dianthus are just beautiful. Let's hope the deer actually find it "deer resistant" and not delicious!

Nothing like planting new salad bar items for the deer 😂 Pretty color and will look beautiful once they get settled in.

That looks good. With all that future planting you might look into an auger. I still use a shovel, but alot of gardeners really like their power tools. As far as your flowers being deer resistant, my story is my plant had the top bite off and tossed right back into the hole. My daughter is like 'what happened!' I laughed so hard. I could just imagine the deer taking a chomp and it came out of the hole and just dropped it back into it's new home. I put a cage over it, but I ended up moving it. The only plants I find deer proof are lavender, sedum, sages. I live in Oregon zone 8b in the city.

After this planting, I might look into one of those augers for sure! Thanks for the deer proof plants, I appreciate that!!

Dianthus are drought resistant. They like full sun, but only need it a few hours a day. They come back every year.

Deer love to eat my Gardena's. Wondered why two of them haven't grown in two years. I put a camera out and caught a big doe and little one going to town on them...

Oh my goodness! That pink indigenous azalea!!!! It is a beauty. Mine is gorgeous as well and the foliage is so pretty this year. Mine is deep yellow and smells so good! Wanna graft and trade??? I'm in Aiken!

Our Azaleas are in full bloom. Strange this season that they all started blooming from the bottom up. I just need to figure out what to do with some very wet areas.
