I bought my transfer stick pump from Harbor Freight for $12. Slower, I'm sure, wnd far less durable. But it works, runs on ordinary D cells, and I can buy 10 or more for the price of the Milwaukee.
Water leaks on stbd chain plate as witnessed by stains on top of hanging locker. Both chain plates need to be removed, inspected for crevice corrosion (cracks), and replaced if bad (or just replaced..) Replacements available from Garhaurer Marine and/or Catalina Direct). Then reinstalled with proper sealant.
Cool adventure. I didn’t know about that rock quarry. We’re in the market for a larger dinghy we can tow behind Happy Ours that has a console for more comfortable dinghy cruising. The lighter the better so we’ll check out the ultra lights.
I like that motor. If I ever get another gas motor, I think I'm going EFI. No more carburetors if I can help it. Only problem is the smallest one is like 100 lbs. How do you handle the motor when it goes from garage to dinghy? Do you use a hoist system, or just get strong helpers? Also if you're launching the dinghy from your boat, how would you mount and unmount the motor?
I tow the dink. However if we are going far I will take my 6hp and leave it on the stanchions I can manage the 15 but it is cumbersome by my self being it's 100lbs I will say I have 7 hrs playing with it and have only burned 1/4 tank
I am new to sailing. I am a 50 yr old retired veteran. I have bought my first boat a few months ago and brought her home a week ago. Repairing windfall. A journey back to the water. Is our channel. I have been looking at antifouling and rust oleum is one ive been looking at for the bottom. Ibwill probably change the color on the topside and i dint know if rust oleum will have the colors i will want
I'd always found those magnetic dishes essential for holding on to nuts and screws, when working. Until I started working on boats, where all my bolts are stainless or bronze, and are thus non-magnetic.
Great video Questions did you ever think you would of became the main keep guy when you started all this So many people at my club are always referring to your videos You got to feel pretty good overall this Jill drink looks amazing Brian love how you are always 3 sheets during all these drink videos lol
Two years ago I bought a boat in Florida that did not have auto pilot and I needed to get it across the gulf of Mexico single handed. I bought a CPT for it, wired it directly to a battery sitting on the floor of the boat and set sail. It worked liked a champ. Id never own any other wheel auto pilot. Its simple and it works. On top of that, customer service is top notch.
I just finished putting on rustoleum on my boat. Just wondering if you put anything else on it after like a clear coat or wax? I can’t seem to find anything saying if it needs it or not.
Long time watcher first time commenter. How do I contact you? My Catalina 30s over at White’s Marina on the Hudson was hoping to pick your brain regarding the “smile” And you could rate my level of insanity on a scale of one to 10 to even be attempting fixing up this boat . Thanks for all the videos.
Slips already paid for. Just want to seal up the bottom. Was advised to just do a quick sand and a coat near the waterline, but I guess I got a little crazy with the sander and revealed the smile as it were. They’ll splash it next weekend if I’m all ready.
Very encouraging. I think the best is yet to come when you find the right things to bring in your boat like a CB radio and a 12 volt chest freezer or two. Keep it in ECO mode.
So many people right now are scrambling to but that minwax thank you for the link my local Home Depot did not have it so amazon it is. Funny how you found the match. Im curious how many toys you needed
