Love this song. It’s unfortunate they had to make such a silly, campy production of it, plus, that curly haired brunette is overacting and WAY too happy for what is essentially a song about the experience of war.
I remember my sister getting a radio cassette recorder for Christmas 1980. She recorded the Christmas UK Charts. I always remember hearing Stop the Calvary followed by John Lennon Imagine as the last two songs on that Christmas cassette. Something funny followed by something sad as John Lennon had only been murdered less than 3 weeks before Christmas.
Awfully distorted audio. It's like someone ran the sound through a maximum brickwall compression ten times in a row, until it was at almost meme-like earrape levels of parody.
