I am Jared Joubert and J's Garage is a place where I do projects for myself and friends. Whether its working on cars, bikes or expanding my knowledge and skills in fabrication or repairs, I will try my hardest to do it and document the process.
Hello, Air in the brake system causes a more spongy brake(softer lever pull) Could be a wheel bearing on the way out? Could also be your ABS system(Faulty wheel speed sensor, or possibly the pump) Does this happen at random, or is it while braking?
@@Js-Garage thx for replying, it seems fine when the weather is cooler but if the bike is sitting in the sun for a bit, i then struggle to push the bike at all, disc and calliper get very hot after going a mile or two. I thought maybe air in the lines expanding because of heat might be the reason? Don't understand why it only happens when the bike is sat the sun. The fluid in the reservoir is right on the full level line, could that be an issue, maybe too much in there?
With what you are saying above, it sounds to me like the pistons in the brake caliper are sticking. Or the caliper isn't floating freely. I would try taking the caliper off and giving it a proper blow out with air and then also use a brake and part cleaner. Just give it a thorough cleaning. Worth a try and wont cost much. Let me know.
That was not just a brake service ! That was a whole adventure, with side quests. Thank you so much for putting it all into one video, its cool to see the whole story from start to end. Without having to go find part two. Great solutions you came up with. very interesting content
I honestly didn't know about track prep I thought you just showed up and had a ride.thats really interesting. Smart idea with the skateboard wheels would never have thought of that. Awesome vid man keep them comming
Love to learn a little bit more about your bike. She’s a beauty. What year? How many miles? I’ve got a 2010 with 50,000 miles, bought it from the second owner at 47,000 and everything‘s been fine so far. Bad thing is I don’t know it’s history but I heard it was owned by triumph mechanic. Just wondering if you had the manual Timing chain tensioner? Have you had any adjustments using it? Thank you, sir
Hello and thank you. She is definitely coming along! 2010 year Mileage is 43000km(26000 miles) Mine is also the manual timing tensioner, havent needed to adjust. One thing, at around 40000-45000 km(24000-27000) the 675 needs valve clearance checks. I need to do mine. I am lucky as mine is riding loose and not tight. You can hear the slight tick. How does yours sound?
@@Js-Garage thanks for the reply. I’m assuming the valves have been at least checked once. I’m not hearing any ticks or any rattles from the Timing chain either and she’s got plenty of power so I’m leaving well enough alone for right now.
@@Js-Garage I was just curious if there was a standard operating procedure for the manual tensioner without opening up the valve covers to check the tightness of the timing chain
That came out really well I was stressing when you pulled the cloth off I thought it might snap the part just goes to show how strong the parts are. I wanted to ask if the clear coat messes up your wax of can you reuse it again? Really great vid I found it really interesting keep them comming
Great videos mate and sic street triple i love the colour, love your mods and style. I have a 2008 street triple in a custom yearl yellow. Such a great bike the 675.
I have been following from the start you are putting a lot of love into here you can see this is a passion project keep it going cant wait to see what you do next
Nice welding job! Looks so much better. a bit too loud for my taste. I think I would go for a E-approved system like HP Corse short exhaust. Do you know how much weight you have saved with this new exhaust?
Thank you for the feedback. Its actually not that loud, maybe the microphones are amplifying. I did do a weighup, it is coming in the next video with the tune at Triumph. The bought systems are always nice to go with but being a project bike I thought a custom exhaust system would be a better fit.
Holy cow the difference is night and day. Looks and sounds so much better. I know you are happy because you can't wipe the smile off your face in the intro. Well done man. Awesome job and very interesting to see how its done .
Wow, this is next level, a truly custom exhaust?! Looks/sounds great! Question for you, what size are your handlebars? Thinking of going a little narrower on mine.
Thank you for this series! I recently bought a 2012 Street Triple, I’m mechanically inclined but new to motorcycles and this series has been tremendously helpful. Look forward your next one!!
