Does that silver part have to go back on top of the disc drive? I dropped my ps4, took it apart figured it was just the rollers which they were out of place.. popped them back in turned it on and it took the disc and read it. Ejected it, tried a different disc and it wouldn’t suck it in anymore. The rollers make noises like it’s trying to take in the disc but it simply won’t..
I've got plenty of time to tinker! Not much interest in paying for the OS though, in the long run, for a bit of a "toy". Maybe someday if I truly expand. :D
I own 20 PlayStation 3 games I can play every single game but when I put in clank it will not read the disk or spin it. I tried it in another PS3 and it works fine, so has anybody encountered that issue? We’re just one game specifically won’t work.
I'm not sure if this anecdote is helpful but: I had a problem with, if I recall, Battlefield 4 where a level just wouldn't load. I could shut down all the way, relaunch the game, continue on the campaign, and it would show the loading screen and just... stop, sitting there indefinitely but still kinda "alive". This was on my Slim that I bought with a bad laser (popped in a new one I got off eBay). I eventually put another new laser in it and that fixed it for... some reason. Every other game booted up fine, in fact while I waited for the new laser to arrive I continued playing other stuff for the week without an issue.

Literally braiding that composite video wire with the audio left and right channel wires is a recipe for some serious audio buzz! There’s a reason shielded video cables isolate the composite wire. It can affect other video wires too which is why you want to use CSync with unshielded RGB cables instead of syncing on composite video.
I guess at the time I was just thinking about aesthetics and logistics of the wiring. Nowadays I would definitely have done some stern separation. Good points! Though I still have that console as my main baby, I haven't really thought any mods (or their integrity) in ages, lol
The small difference in gpu scores is caused by a cpu bottleneck. Turn off everything on the motherboard you do not use like serial and parellel ports, and maybe give the cpu a small oc. The videocards can do more.
It's an Ultra. The 6800 GT was a single slot card, never even seen one for the mac not sure if they made them. Defiantly an Ultra, I also have one in my dual 2.7 Got 151fps spinning squares and an overall score of 131 in Xbench
Yeah your right, I had the 6800GT back in the day but for the PC and didn't look anything like that. Hard to even tell the difference visually between the Mac version of the GT and Ultra. Do you still have this machine? @@alecjahn
@@AndrewJohn311Yup! I have it and a DC 2.5. The screenshot I linked was when I booted it up right before replying. Been slowly playing through Quake 4 on it this past year when I get bored. And I keep it open for audio production stuff with my Echo Layla 24/96 interface which works great with it and Logic.

I put this and a lot of other videos on private and then unprivated them later, apparently in 2015. For whatever reason RU-vid changes the date to that...
Pretty cool build. I really want one of those AGP pro FireGL x2-256's for an Athlon MP build, they're actually more difficult to find than the regular 9800/9700. Could you share the board part number? I can't make it out in the video, can't find a clear image online, and that might be what people are listing them as.

@@alecjahn Thanks so much. It shouldn't be necessary, but I've found and bought a lot of ATI cards putting those numbers in, usually in the as-wrote format; "102-A10504-00". The one for many 9500/9700s is 109-94200-30. If the label is missing the silk-screened part number is the most noticeable identifier. I've even bought cards which had the label but were still listed under the board PN only. You can get some good deals that way. I'll be on the lookout!
Hi Alex, Thanks a lot for the video! I had the same issue, and about a year ago I repaired it following your video (but with better luck finding capacitors with the right size 😉). It worked, and the screen still works as if it was brand new. Sorry I didn't comment earlier, but I wanted to make sure it worked before I did - and then I forgot... Now I can say for sure that it works, even more than a year later 😁.
any ideas for randomly ejecting disk from a launch ps4? I've removed the rubber boot and messed with the manual eject screw and nothing seems to work 😅
hey! i know this video is super old, but im having this EXACT problem with the ps4 pro, and yoU are the ONLY person on the internet that has managed to show how to fix something similar (ps4 slim, not pro) do you think this will work on the ps4 pro too? since the disc drive looks kinda different?
The part that was bent on this Slim looks super similar when I search around on the internet... I would THINK it could be the same problem but I still haven't touched a Pro so... I don't actually know! But surely they're about the same? Heck if I search for a whole drive replacement sometimes people are using the same pictures for a Slim drive and a Pro drive. Only that top mechanism is what was bent, so the actual electronics of the drive could be different in their own irrelevant way. Maybe that makes sense?
@@alecjahn yeah, i totally understand, I'll give your fix a try when I get to open up the pro again, it's a nightmare to work on since you have to disassemble it cOMPLETELY. thankfully you don't have to replace the thermal paste in my revision (cuh-71xx) but still. it's weird because the thing doesn't vibrate at all when it's upside down lol but i have to fix this cause I want it in a standing mount. thank you for your time bro ‼️💯

Bought a ps4 slim with a “broken disc drive” for $75 I downloaded all my games and needed a console so I went ahead and bought it. Flash forward a year and my friend lets me borrow a disc copy of a game. I get it home and then remembered the disc drive didn’t work, so I found this video. Saw what the problem was so I stuck a small screw driver directly in the disc reader and lightly lifted up on the drive from left to right a few times and gave it a shot and it worked like a charm. 😅 Not the way you did it but the concept was still the same! Thank you buddy now I can finally play cyberpunk 3 years later 😅
Attempting to install lubuntu 16.04 from the .iso DVD I burned, Onto my mis-2005 A1106 15" 1.5 ghz. 2 Gb. 60 gB 72K HDD. I get to the last "Continue" whereupon it FREEZES! Time after time... AFTER checking off the two down loads... This with Ethernet to my AT&T DSL 2.5 Pro /SpeedStream modem.... I give up. INTEL Ubuntu works FINE from my several Intel Macs 2007 - 2009... )-:// J.C. Age 73.... Retired camera repairman Mechanic from age 5.... Old Macs since 1997.... $15 SE-30 <
My problem is it. Only works on low speed but I saw that it looked like that track thing was not in very good shape. I was trying to find a new board but so far haven't had any luck. If you know where to get it I'd really appreciate you passing that info on to me. Thank you, Doc

Bro My line 6 500x lcd is brighten and brighten and brighten after 3 days it totally blanking and there is no display. What should I do? Just change and buy new lcd or I should fix it by my self? Please help me...
Did mine today. Six caps bad. All 1800uF 6.3v electrolytic types. Two 10mm x 18mm and four 8mm x 20 mm. Solved the thermal shutdown problem. Thanks again!
