The part is for me one of the best vocals ever, but Blackmoor launched it first, then with Black Sabbath ... Although he would be a legend even without them.
One of the best hard rock songs ever recorded...an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. Kudos to Ritchie, Cozy and Ronnie (RIP for the last two) for this recording!
I was so lucky to have cool parents. Course I had a Sister that was 11years older, a brother that was 7 years older, and parents bedroom was in the other end of the house, and when I was in Junior High, and high School for sure, I was the only one still in the house. Two Pioneer Tower Speakers, 2 Technic speakers, and 2 Panasonic Thrusters ...And a big Pioneer Stereo, and turntable, with a Panasonic cassette deck. Used to shake the walls on that end of the house. We had a door on the far end of the hallway and it was a thick hardwood door We put up one weekend. We had a huge Fisher Unit in the den, and when they were out of town, it served big parties really well. And, of course, I had Dio throughout my albums. From Rainbow, to Sabbath, then Dio. He, like Pat Benatar, had the BEST male Voice. Course Ozzy had the EASIEST to identify.
Epic song. Best live song I've ever heard. To me, yes, RJD is amazing, but I dig the skills and playing of Cozy friggen Powell. He drove this song yo!!
Ritchie, Ronnie and Cozy were virtuosos but also composers. Each one adapted their performance to maximise its impact within the structure and meaning of the song. Take note, shredders of today.
