We're a small farm in NE Minnesota. Hereford cattle is our thing. Other than the Herefords, we have a couple of horses, a mini horse, a mini donkey and chickens. There's a bit of everything here at WE Farm.
It's surprisingly dry here as well. That'll be a nice windbreak. I'm looking forward to seeing that D8 working too. Always teasing with your view of the lake. Thanks Brent.
@@pinesedgefarm1155 I hope the wind break plan works out.... You'll just have to take a drive one of these days and see the lake for yourself 😉... Thanks Erik.
Man yeah Mr Brent!! Field looks great!! Boy almost seeing lake Superior....that puts it into perspective 😳 Beautiful scenery on the walk "home" 😉 Wind break is going to be sweet for the bessies this winter!!! Looka like they love the green chop!! That D8 and Cody's experience was epic, look fwd to seeing more on that!! Thank you my friend for bringing us along!! 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲
Sure hope that field does alright.... I'll replant it in the spring with a grass mix, just getting to late to get grass growing up here... Never know, if the wind break works out good, I might curl up in the bedding and take a afternoon nap with them 🤣🤣🤣... Thanks Nelson for stopping by🙂.
I recognize that seeder! Nice time to replant your field. I bet it looks a lot different in spring. It’s so satisfying to reclaim a hayfield. Cows love green chop for sure. What a great way to turn grass into beef. That windbreak will help you gather manure for compost and spreading.
Yep, just about the same as your food plot drill....I'm going to reseed it with clover, timothy mix in the spring, just getting to late for grass seed planting. I think this wind break will work out good...Thanks Dave
Spruce budworm is bad in British Columbia. Lots of over mature spruce there causing problems building up the bug population. We had pine beetle come through and wipe out most of the mature pine in northern Alberta.
It is pretty dry. In town rain wouldn't bother me. The soybean harvest is on so I'm probably a minority. We would park as close to the building site to walk home to milk unless we needed fuel. Thank you Brent.
Evening Brent. Those cows don't appear to be suffering from malnutrition. 😂 I like the windbreak, great idea. Thanks for the shout out. If you ever get really bad dozer withdrawal you can come by and run the D8. 🙂
Their starving in their own minds 😂😂😂. I think this wind break should work out good. Never know, I might just have to come start it....Let Cody know he's 1 in 10,0000 kids that even know how to start a old pony motor Cat... That's damn cool in my book.
Poor starving cows!! And poor Brent, having to walk all the way back to the farm, just like walking to school in 10' of snow, up hill both ways... A nice high spot to feed and a windbreak👍 I wouldn't mind green chopping, but not much growth except here in the pasture they're grazing.. Will got a sweet deal on the D8!!! You and I wouldn't pass it up!! Thank you Brent! Have a good Monday!!
Yep, poor me😂😂😂. I've walked that driveway at -25 many times and I wasn't sober🤣🤣....I think that spot will work out good for feeding this winter...That old green chopper is really working out good this year....The neighbors would tremble with fear if there was a D8 in my yard...😂😂😂. Thanks Ed.
We have gone better than 40 days here without rain. I am thinking that the hurricanes back to back and the tropical storms will drive some rain this way
Your welding wire spool looks like my fishing reel😅. Love the green chopper for second crop. I’ve done ours that way in years with a wet fall…lots of fuel but the cows love it. Be careful they don’t trample you…
It's like having spring out here behind them, 😂😂😂... their a little loose.... If I had the room for some more squares, I would have baled this stuff....Thanks Dave.
That sucks with the wire spool. That flail chopper would be kind of handy. Some nice cow chow. Years ago we used to green chop corn silage onto a hay rack like that. Haven't had to do that in awhile. Thanks Brent.
The flail chopper was my fix for 2nd cut, we normally don't get the weather for it.....Some day I'll find a old feeder wagon to chop into, in the mean time, the hay wagon will have to work...Thanks Erik.
I’ve got to get some corrals pushed out yet this fall into piles to rot down. Been kinda wet for that job lately and I’m hoping my brother will bring the wheel loader h9me from work. Way bigger and better for pushing than my loader tractors.
Huh... I was wondering what you might be up to and lo and behold you posted a video 😊 I just came in from hauling in a load of silage bales that will get wrapped in the morning. Cheers 🍻
Good evening Brent. That would have made some second crop hay but you are right about saving steps by green chopping it. It would be a good thing for me too. Someday I'll stumble upon a decent green chopper.
I really wanted to make squares but I only had room for about 30 so green feed it will be...You'll find one one of these days, sure does save a lot of steps....Thanks Will.
Nice bale piling there Brent. Shouldn't have any problems making the winter with all of that. The 273 looks mint. Billhooks for that International must be gold plated at that price.
@@farawayfarm2520 Thanks Will....we should be good for hay unless we added 50 head😂😂. The 273 came from down by Two Harbors originally, it's sat more than it's baled.... I'm going to fix the IH baler when I come into some big money 💰💰💰😂. Thanks Will.
The mini with the bale spear worked pretty slick. The 273 looks very nice, we used to have one with a belt thrower. It's a good feeling when there is a good supply of hay under cover.
@@pinesedgefarm1155 It does work pretty good, kind of redneck but it works 😂. Won't be long before I have to find a way to load small squares by myself.. kids grow up..... Sure does feel good to have a good supply of hay after last years drought....Thanks Erik.
Man yeah, looks like you might be in good shape for the winter!! So the Mrs had to work the bugs out of the unloading with the mini🤔😉🤣😁 She had me rolling when she said " and I haven't gotten to unload since " 🤣🤣 US men have low patience on certain days 😁😁 Oh no....I was so excited to see the SC in the first of the video...but man what a trade you made!! I would love to find a good 273 myself. A few nicer features than my ole 269. Can't wait to see it in action!! I may cut one more time this year for the same customer, the drought really stunted the growth. Wow, that's expensive but I understand what you mean on thr ole IH baler though. Thank you Mr Brent for bringing us along!! 😁😁😁👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲
@@Pennies_on_the_dollar We're good for hay for the winter....Marja has way more patience than me,and admit that she was right,it does work pretty good 😊. The trade for the baler was a deal for both of us. Pretty hard to put a bullet in the old IH baler, it's been a good machine. Thanks for watching Nelson....
OMG that’s awesome! Creative idea with a lot of flexibility and reach. Way better than my old three-point unloading system before I got the second loader tractor. Good job Marjia with the solution. Now the boys want to play😊.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn I will admit when she comes up with a good idea, she has a lot more patience than I do.🙄. Hope all is well with you guys. Thanks for watching Dave.
Great to see your hay is all in👍! Seems, the bale spear at the excavator works well💪. That's a great idea, never saw that before😁👍. Have a nice day Brent!!
I figured it was a good trade... I've baled with this New Holland before,it works really well ...That old IH is still a good sound baler, I've got time to decide what to do with it.
We had a speer for the bale loader for a while.. dropped the grapple off and bolted it in place of the grapple pin. It was kinda funky and not big enough diameter.. bent it a few times.. but it worked. Little Mimi is pretty handy for that!! You're set for this winter!!!
Congrats on wrapping up haying. Still have 900 bales to move here yet, but we are chipping away at cutting and baling oats for greenfeed now and probably start combining in a couple weeks.
Good evening Brent. I was expecting something more dramatic for unloading I noticed that the swallows are gone. Won't be long. They are talking thunderstorm. Possibly hail. Why not ?
@@brenterickson1695 went really good. 14 guys, pumper truck and six mixer trucks, done in two hours. Looks nice. Gonna roll epoxy on the cement this week.
Nice to see the haybine back in action👍! Here always coming the storks after cutting to catch mice n frogs and whatever, lol😁. Great cutting job👍💪! Have a great day Brent!!
A nice field of grass hay. Definitely more sand hill cranes here too. If you were closer, I'd let you use my stump bucket for those rocks. Sweet me nice hay making weather finally.
@@pinesedgefarm1155 I need to get over there with the mini excavator and skid steer and get those rocks out and get the holes filled...Day job cuts into my important work... Hoping to bale it up on Humpday. Thanks Erik.
About time you got cutting again..lol. i haven't figured out yet, how to hold my phone to watch 🤔🤣😂 I cut a lot of mole and gopher mounds today, you tried cutting rocks while diving around on a mole hill 🤣 Pretty place!! Don't give Axeman too much,💩, you know you or I would probably do the same.. Thank you Brent! Have a great Monday!!
Yep, I was dragging my feet for a day😂.....I have know clue why the phone did that🤔. We don't have gophers here cause there's too many rocks to dig around.... Thanks Ed.
