Did some studying a few years back. Looking to study some more and get technical license. I live in the middle of our town....I don't think they'll let me put up an antenna in my back yard,so I don't know how practical it would be to get a license.
Are you in an HOA? You may need to look at the HOA rules. If not, then you're good. There are laws that prevent municipalities from limiting you from building antennas. Let me know about the HOA. Thanks for watching!!
@@The_Corner_Of I've never had a city give me grief. Amateur radio ops are a service to the community. Law PRB-1 helps hams put up antennas, even if a city "doesn't like them." Check out your local zoning laws first. Better yet, find some local hams and ask them the rules. They can be a great help. Let me know how I can help.
To much rain and to many cold nights are taking their toll on my garden this year. We need more sun during the day and warmer nights. We can only do so much and the rest is up to God and Mother Nature!
You can work and work and work, and in the end, it's all up to God and Mother Nature. We realized that last year after we worked all spring and summer, and then lost most of it to a hail storm. Keep fighting and keep praying! Cheers!
Congrats on your job! It’s so hard balancing everything. The weather is all over the place. Been so cold and dry here with potential frost tonight. Everything looks amazing by you. The heat and humidity is so beneficial. We have been so cold this week. Only had one day so far at 81. Otherwise been 50’s and 60’s for the highs. Zucchini and yellow squash would do fine with holes through the weed cloth. They don’t need mounds. We stopped using mounds a few years ago and they grow well
It seems like it's feast or famine with the rain, doesn't it, Rich? We have a lot of standing water down here, too. The corn and bean fields are now lakes. Steve is in charge of the garden this year, and it's doing well. We are traveling more and more now so we won't even have a garden next year. Give Holly a hug for me!
The hug has been delivered! We've got lakes in the fields too. I hope the severe weather avoids you two tonight. Hope to see you this summer to hear about your travels!
One thing I have difficulty growing are any melons watermelon cantaloupe I’ve tried for about three years and I’ve given up when I grow them. They’re the size of a baseball.
We use lots of manure and they love the food. We hill them up too, just like a pumpkin hill. We haven't even gotten ours in the ground as it's under water!
Your raised beds are killing it this year! We are in the middle of a glorious rain right now. Our entire livelihood was at risk if it didn’t rain. Maybe you need to grow rice this year? 😉 Your garden is set up so nicely Rich. Glad to hear the new job is going well. It is so hard to work and have a garden too. So many nights we are out there until dark. Take care. 🌺
I have been out until 10pm some nights. The dark doesn't drive me out, it's the bugs! I'm so glad you received the rain you prayed for. Our garden is a hobby. Your garden is your livelihood. Praying for more rain to head your way versus our way! Cheers Annette!
Nice tour! You will get a lot of food and isn’t that the purpose!! Im in 6a and plant mostly in raised beds… a lot easier and more control but not as much volume.. we have 6 tall beds (36”); 5 (18” rectangular); and 2 (18” round) plus 7 Green stalk towers and a few grow bags… if we can grow enough for me to can or freeze dry- it will be worth it💕 keep growing- it doesn’t have to be very pretty… just productive💕
It's not pretty right now. I agree that we just need to produce for us. I'm praying the rain will hold off for a few weeks to help things take off. Thanks for stopping by to watch! Keep us posted on your progress.
Hi Rich! I have a massive weed problem between my fabric rows and in my burn holes in my fabric and what I did this last winter to help me get a head start in spring was covered the open rows with tarps right before the snow covered everything. Held them down with varous things, rocks, pavers, staples.... Come spring, I pulled back the tarps and had nice clean fresh soil to go straight to amending and planting in and skipped the weeding. I took bits and peices of scrap garden fabric and put them in the burn holes and just used a garden staple in the middle to keep it in place. Worked so well! We have the same invasive runner grass like you and it seems impossible to get rid of.
Anytime! I got sick of spending my whole spring weeding and then not having enough frost free days after to plant all I wanted. I'm also in 4b and the struggle is real!
Congratulations on your job! Woven weed fabric is a good idea especially with being so limited in time. Hope the garden doesn’t get you down because it’s not like last years. It just takes a different perspective. Happy Gardening!
The rain has been something else this year. So we have lots of garden pests and weeds. But, I still think we will be able to get a great harvest. Your garden is beautiful ❤❤❤ Hopefully your peppers take off.
The peppers we standing in water again this morning. Another inch of rain yesterday and severe weather headed in from the west. When it rains, it pours!!! Praying for good harvests for both of us! Cheers!
Last night i noticed that the second planting of cucumbers were submerged. 4 inches since Saturday night. I'm reluctant to grumble after all of the dry years. I've been pulling purslane whenever it's dry enough. Thanks for the update.
We've got lots and lots of plants under water. I'm praying for a break but we have severe weather headed in tonight. Keep me posted how you're doing Bryce. Cheers!
My garden is a lot smaller and mostly in raised beds and Greenstalks. I am starting a fruit guilds/food forest but that’s going slow. I need to plant my squash, melons and sweet potato slips. Do you think there is still time to start the squash and melon from seeds or is it better to buy plants now. I’m in White Bear Lake.
We don't have our squash and melons in the ground as it's under water. We're going to go for it. We've got three months of growing plus a few days in October. I'm going for it!!!
I rent in Minneapolis, so my veggie garden ins in fabric garden bags. Seems like everything is very happy tomato plants are about 4' tall and flowering. Pepper plant is already popping out peppers. Watermelon and cantaloupe or slowly starting to spread as well. That being said, non of my seed starts survived so these are all try number 2 from farmers market starts.
Awesome job with the bags! You must be happy. I had really bad luck with my seeds this year too. Some things I planted three times. It must be the seeds that let us down! Keep me posted Dan! Cheers!
It has its advantages. I can't imagine the weeding without this set-up. We're slowly growing, despite all the rain. Thanks for stopping by. We appreciate your support!
If you're a golfer, and want a very comfortable set of golf shoes, this might be for you! Sorry for not having too much footage from out on the course. My friends were not great at shooting! Check out the video description for a link to receive 28% off on you golf shoe purchase.
We appreciate the support! I'll get over to your channel. Just took on a fulltime job. I don't have enough time to do everything right now. Cheers Garry!
Our environment has been constant. There seems to be a lot of little factors that can cause a Fairy Egg. I now have one hen who lays a Fairy about every fifth egg. Weird. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
They are great chickens. We're so happy with our hens! If you love the name, you'll have to check out our video on the naming of the Old Swede's Farm. Check it out and let me know what you think. Cheers Sonja!
I was given 2 juvenile chickens?? I think they are roosters. How can I tell?? They are probably 12 weeks to 16 weeks old. I have other chickens they are laying and these 2 stand way above the other girls. Also they don't crow or cluck like either would do. They make a honking sound like a goose. They aren't geese. I have pics but no where to get them on here.
We have been lucky and never had a rooster. Look for the size of the comb and wattle. Look for the longer tail feathers. Wait for the "hen" to crow. Look for spurs on the back of the leg. It might be that you have a slower growing hen that will lay in a couple more weeks. Keep us posted on what turns out. Cheers!
Thank you. I think they are younger than I first said. More like 10 weeks old. My other chickens ,well one... lucy is trying to be mean to them. Anyway I google lensed them. They are Isa browns so they are bigger than my chickens. That was throwing me off too. No spurs. They are starting to sound more like my hens. NORMAL lol
@@sandramarbut8229 Sounds like everything is in order. If there is bullying, it might just be the hens sorting out the pecking order. If they continue to fight, you might separate them for a few days. Keep us posted on the hens and how they continue to grow. Take care Sandra!
