The Platters was one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era. Their distinctive sound was a bridge between the pre-rock Tin Pan Alley tradition and the burgeoning new genre. The group went through several changes, with the most successful incarnation comprising lead tenor Tony Williams, David Lynch, Paul Robi, Herb Reed, and Zola Taylor. The group had 40 charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart between 1955 and 1967, including four no. 1 hits. The Platters : (Re)Discover their Greatest Hits
"It's me! Please! What'll it take for you to stop? Please don't shoot! Think of all we've been through!" "You'll have to go through her to get to me. There still must be some things you won't do. Now put down the gun and back off! I can't believe you'd..." "I can't let you leave here alive. Not after what you've just done."
I'm 68 but this 70s compilation has made me feel like a 20 year old again! I can't help but bop around to the beat! So many of these songs take me back to particular places and the people I was with at that time. Better than any blood pressure pills or statins!
I wish nowadays songs give the same vibes but I think it's difficult... World has changed that even romantic songs become anti romantic... Without feelings
I have not heard this song for at least 30 years. At 81 years and 4 months it still puts GOOSE BUMPS on my body. I wish my husband of 47 years and 8 months who died 4 years and 11 months was here to hear this. We would have danced. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🙏♥️💜
Unlike the others, I discovered this song not from WandaVision but through finding Only You thanks to Far Cry 5. I am now obsessed with The Platters, and as an author this song has been a major inspiration as well as Only You for a major character of mine!
this is one of four songs from video games that give me flashbacks the other 3 being master of puppets (guitar hero), the shark (changed) and moon lord fight theme (terraria)
