We camped here once, many years ago with Marilyn & Kenny Herzog, long before Adventure Bound bought it. It looks like a nice place for families with kids. Our grands are in their teens, so probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much. That’s a good thing - it’s way out of our price range!
Get better fast. I use KOA, Good Sam, and Passport America. I have the America Beautiful pass, works great. Also, FMCA and AARP has some discounts camping. FMCA has a nice campground at their headquarters in Cincinnati, OH with considerable discount to members.
We love our KOA app and Passport America, they've really helped us out particularly on the longer trips. As for the senior life time pass, We've had it for two years and the savings can be good but you have to make sure you use the pass and plan trips where the pass can be used.. Thanks for sharing, Herbie, Mary, & Peanut.. 💯👍🏽
@BikesBoatsBivouacs that's great I think you'll enjoy it alot I recommend if you need supply's go to Walmart in Lexington cause we went to a little town the other direction and it was not what I was expecting at all we turned around and went to the Walmart instead just got bad vibes lol there's a strip mall on the side of Walmart that has good pizza too
I just stayed there last month. It was a stopover on our way from Pennsylvania to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I wouldn't use that campground for anything other than a one night stop. The site we got was so unlevel I couldn't even get enough blocks under one side of my trailer to get it level. I had to use a borrowed 2x4 from the campground plus 8 leveling blocks to get level! On top of that my electric hookup showed a hot neutral but the campground insisted there was nothing wrong with it and that it was normal for voltage to be present on the neutral! I've never heard that before. Personally I would not go back there. And don't accept site 89 unless you enjoy doing a lot of work to get level and don't care if the electrical is wired correctly.
Hickory Run was our first camping trip during Covid. Our daughter had just bought her first camper and we helped her and her husband learn the routine of hooking up and setting up. I don’t remember which loop we stayed in, but we were under the trees. We loved hiking there and going to see the river of rocks. Great review!
Loved this video, Scott! You always did have a great sense of humor! Marie is a wonderful side kick. She had a couple of zingers of her own on this one! 😂 We camped in the backyard too with our grands right before the pandemic started. Back then we had a popup camper. We don’t quite have all the amenities you do, but we do have a nice deck with table and chairs and a gas grill right outside our TT door and our “site” has water and electric hookups.
Skinny Jack Jumbo?? 🤣 Even though we live within walking distance of the Schuylkill, we have never kayaked on it. We would both feel better having someone guide us the first time so we don’t run into trouble. The route SJJ took didn’t look too bad.
I'm sure he would be happy to travel down the river with you two. He is always up for an adventure. I need to wait out a doctor's visit before I jump back into a kayak. Thanks for watching.
Hello I’m buying this tomorrow, 2019 model , I’ve looked at the wolf pup , I’m going with this as it has its own stand up shower vrs sitting on the toilet taking shower, any advice before the purchase? I’m paying about $9500 used 1 owner
If you plan on hauling a motorcycle watch my video on Boltiton.com so that you can haul your bike safe without having to bolt anything to the floor. My rig did well on my trips and didn't have any issues with it. I also have videos on de winterizing that may also help you with the systems. Enjoy.
Scott, have you considered a Trike Kit for your bike? You can put it on and take it back off as desired. Our trike had a Voyager Trike kit and it looked great. We loved it, but sold it when it became too difficult for me to get on and off the trike.
I’ll second Robert’s motion for the trike. I don’t have experience with them, but I’ve heard complaints that sidecars really make riding a chore for the operator. Weight and mass imbalances make turns to the right different than to the left, and can cause the bike to swerve when stopping. You may also need to add weight to the sidecar if it is unoccupied. Then again, I suppose you can get accustomed to anything with experience. Paul
Also, as much as we might complain about some of the regulations we’re subject to in the People’s Republic of Pennsylvania, we’re grateful for the trailer inspection. Our trailer mechanic has caught a few things over the years!
Love Vermont! We stayed for a week in a condo at the edge of Stowe village. We had my mom with, so couldn’t do any hiking. It’s on the top of my list to get back there.
Very interesting, Scott. It hadn't occurred to me that RU-vidrs should trademark their logos. How's your back coming along? With the weather we've been having, you must be itching to get back out there. I have a recommendation for you: if you haven't already checked it out: Brunswick Family Campground in Brunswick, MD. It's sandwiched between the C&O canal rail trail and the Potomac River. Lots of opportunities to bike, boat, and bivouac all in one location. We tubed the Potomac for hours last weekend.
You will enjoy there! Phoebe is now an international camping cocker spaniel since she has been camping in Canada. Check my playlists for specific trips to various regions. Thanks for watching.
Elk Neck was our go to spot every other week when we started camping 40 years ago, especially when we took our boat and tent camped. We never camped in the full hookup sites, even after we bought our first camper. Always hiked out to the lighthouse - I have photos of it before it was cleared out and was fenced off. We still try to go down there once a year just to go to the lighthouse, but haven’t camped there in years. We’ll have to camp there again, and of course, stop in at Woodies for a meal - can’t go to Northeast without a meal at Woodies!
We go every year in the Fall. I spent my summers at Shady Beach at my aunts house near McDaniel yacht basin. It's my favorite state park. Thanks for watching.
That’s a 18ft pontoon boat, it is extremely underpowered, I can run faster than 12mph! Even a 50 would not be enough for me! Part of having fun while boating is going fast or at least faster than 12mph ✌️
We’ve never camped here. Might have to give it a try. Enjoyed watching you cook breakfast. You lost us with the Spam, but got me back with the avocado. We go to Beilers Fruit Farm just up the road for the best peaches ever! We’ll be sure to check out the bake shop the next time we go.
Spam and Dinty Moore Beef Stew I always kept on my boat when I had it on the Chesapeake since it didn't need to be refrigerated....old habits die hard. Lol. Site 16 if you can get it. Thanks for watching.
Hey! I have this exact same set up. I can only get about 10 miles an hour on mine. What prop did you have on there? My dealer put a 107 4 blade on mine. Thanks for the help!
The RAM 2500 has the 6.4 Hemi and a massive towing allowance so I don't need a weight distribution hitch with it. It has worked out well. Thanks for watching.
We haven't stayed at a KOA yet but you're making a believer out of me. We took the grandchildren to Dutch Wonderland this past weekend and stayed at the Old Mill Stream campground next door. How's your back recovery coming along? Paul
I haven't been to old mill stream yet but it's on my list. The back is slowly getting better. It frustrating not being able to do what I want to do. Thanks for watching. Try a koa and let me know what you think. I have a koa playlist with all the koas is stayed at.
When do you un-bypass the tank? Before all that? How do I take care of the remaining anti-freeze in the line to the bottle? And why did you wait to mention *not* putting the vinegar water through the water heater tank until the end?
After I sanitize the tanks I then reset the valves to allow water to flow through the water heater. If you pul the hose out of the antifreeze bottle with the pump still running it should injest the fluid and clear the line. I then put a plastic bag on the winterization hose. I forgot to mention it. Thanks for watching.
