OUCH!!! Scott!! Dang, man! We are so, so sorry about all of this! Jessie's had a ruptured disc before, too, so we greatly sympathize. It's awful that it's costing you the biking and boating, but thank the Lord you'll still be able to enjoy the outdoors in some capacity. Follow doctor's orders, brother, and keep your chin up! We're prayin' for you and Marie!!

I'm so sorry to hear that happened. I hope that your recovery goes as smoothly as possible. With the auto leveling on a motor home, in some campsites that are very un-level, it's recommend that you level it with blocks first. That's because if the auto leveling system lifts the RV so much that the tires are not in contact with the ground, it can make for a dangerous situation. Hope that helps.

Oh my goodness Scott, that had to be incredibly frightening. I can't imagine what flashed through your and Marie's minds those first few minutes while you were on the ground. I would never have guessed that the combination of lifting the hitch one day and weeks later kicking the wheel chock could be so destructive. It took a lot of discipline to give up the bikes and boat for now, but it sounds like you definitely made the safe decision. Hopefully you'll make a full and speedy recovery, then maybe you can ease back into those activities. I've dealt with muscle strain issues in the past - obviously nothing like what you're dealing with - so I can appreciate the changes you're forced to make as you (we) get older. Paul

Scott - sorry to hear about your health issues. You’re doing the right things by focusing on your health now. Hopefully in time you will heal and can get back to a new normal and do some of things that you enjoy again. Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear this Scott. I've had a similar experience 2 summers ago. I fell while camping and got a compression fracture in my back. I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in the lumbar region of my back (Who knew! We're so young!) It has gotten a lot better in time with exercise and physical therapy and some osteoporosis meds. I am very careful what I do from now on. But it did take quite a few weeks to start to feel better. We actually had a road trip planned to Glacier National Park a month after it happened and we did still get to go. I wore a back brace the whole time and did advil around the clock. My hiking was a little limited but it was still a great trip. Sounds like you're on top of what to do and what not to do. Be patient, you'll get there and just know there's plenty of great things to do and experience even with this setback, Anne Sheeler

Hay Pal, We are so sorry that you are enduring so much with your health. I know it could be a little hurtful that you have to give up your bikes and your boat but it for a good reason. I'm getting ready to sell my Harley Fatboy for something a little less punishing due to my arthritis of my lower back and legs. The price I'm now paying for standing out on so many police details during those cold winter days and nights for so many years. Know that Mary and I have you guys in our prayers for healing, and we will see you soon.
