We are a variety show made to reenkindle imagination. The world is noisy and frivolous; we could use some serious play. We make all sorts of fun little skits and songs and stuff to enjoy. thegoodtimegroup.etsy.com
The treasure is actually inside Leo's throne because the throne is on a hinge you can lift up. So the treasure chest if you shoot the wall is just an empty decoy and works as a good projectile for giving your enemies serious concussion
I grew up with this set. Now I totally agree with y'all, that this set is trash BUT I made some major memories with this set, tons of hours filled with fun, in an imaginary world and I loved every second. So for me it has its spot up there
@@thegoodtimegroup exactly. I got that set at the age of 6/7ish I think and I totally didn't mind the looks of it. I mean yeah it looked kinda goofy but the play features put the fun back up high. Even the "hidden" not-so-hidden snake was a highlight about that set haha
I didnt expect you guys being so much... christian? In general yes there was a trend for a more dark gothic ashetic but its not manufactured by companies trying to push pagan and anti christian beliefs. This is an old talking point trying to move the discussion away from actual existing economical problems to "ur kids have mental problems or hate jesus cuz of video games" .The discussion is never focused on providing access to phycological support for children who have problems or the fact that parents dont have enought time to spend with their kids due to work but the problem was the darkness and violence of games. Aside from that i dont think that darkness and pagan images push children away from christianity but thats not a bad thing either why not have a bat lord and a witch be good guys fighting against the king? How even this concept is going to make a child atheist or pagan worshiper is beyond me
Thank you for your respectful and well argued comment! We aren't trying to restate the old talking point of blaming dark problems on dark media in this video; we are adding something different to the conversation. We are contending that the different media were very, very different and that this difference divided parents and children creating an environment of mistrust. To boil down the video: as parents stop trusting their children's media, resentment builds; as children's media becomes more distasteful to parents, resentment builds. We are talking about the origins of the resentment on both sides of the debate, not their arguments. Keep the Good Times Poppin'!
I'd add this set to the dragons layer adding on the two arches and tower kinda combined trying to make a throne room or better private chamber for the wizard
I am humbled by a shout out and sad I didn't get to this video sooner. With the birth of my son out of the way, I might be able to contribute to the next contest! Huzzah!
I love the new Lion Knights but have always preferred the Black Knights. I would love to see Lego do a big BK castle in black to be a partner/counter piece to this
I'm beyond grateful for the generosity of the great Max. In his honor, I hereby name my chicken knight Sir Maximillian! Thanks again to everyone who voted and participated. Looking forward to the next contest!
Thank you all for the opportunity to participate in such a fun competition! I’m already working on an improved and even more defensible castle MOC! Can’t wait to get creative with the Good Time Group Knight either!
I would love a revival of the Ninja theme, one that isn't given over to gimmicks like Ninjago, I only got a couple of the sets sadly. Think it was the bandit stronghold mini set and the Emperor's Guard on horse figure set, should have them somewhere. I'd like these to return as they were a nice piece of design as you mentioned.
That Emperor Guard set is so iconic! Yeah, what gimmicks these had didn't take away from the Lego-ness or beauty of the sets. Keep the Good Times Poppin'!
Nice video! As a kid (8 yo?) I was saving up for this castle, when I finally had enough it was no longer available :( Bought it secondhand during covid, when I plundered my parent'attic for my old lego collection and saw this one on an online market place. BTW I spend my hard earned savings on 6086 which had replaced this one, back in the day. These 2 are probably my favourite classic castle sets.
Help me understand your rating. When you say offensibility, do you mean how the castle can take offensive actions against an attacking force, or that the sight of the castle is offensive to look at?
Great Question! All a math problem, so to speak: Accessibility: How livable and/or realistic is it? +1 for things that a minifigure could do, -1 for anything inconvenient for the minifigures. Defensibility: How well can it withstand an attack? +1 for good historical features, -1 for missed opportunities etc. Offensibility: how well can one stage a counter offensive if attacked. Can you fight back? Auxiliary graces: +1 or -1 for anything else outstanding to the building itself. Keep the Good Times Poppin'!
I think the first castle is meant to be surrounded by water, and that ramp up there leading to the wooden door with the wooden floor should be the access for that boat I think. The open door is meant to be another connection for another bridge to another portion of town / castle.
Great theory on the 'boat ramp!' Vikings beached in similar ways, so tenable for any small or shallow drafted craft. For the style of the castle, (12th-13th century) I would have expected a just pre-caravel-lateen-rig ship, which would have a deep hull and need a dock.
@@thegoodtimegroup maybe the keep is supposed to be only accessible to small boats / barges / rafts that ferry goods and weapons to the keep to maintain them supplied in a siege , not the bigger boats you mentioned.(again, this is presuming my theory that the entire castle is supposed to be surrounded by water - including that specific portion with the ramp.
Without you guys, my vocabulary probably would have been missing three words my entire life :( You should get these three castles together and have a last man standing battle off to see which one survives the longest :P Imagine if LEGO Masters had a challenge where the contestants had to build castles with high ADO ratings while still being aesthetically pleasing (and tell a story).
Hey! Thanks so much for featuring my build (the last one). Rest assured that the flaws observed will be rectified shortly. Next time I'll have better lighting...
What a pair of distinguished gentlemen who decides to apologise, in the commencement of the video. Thus I Jarl (Lord) Francis of Sweden accept your humble apology and pardon you of your unlawful act. With this matter in question settled, I will now proceed with watching this delightful video.
