In this channel, I like to create Video Essays look at characters and stories from Film, TV, and Comics and analyze what makes them so great. I want to share my appreciation of these characters and stories with others and start a positive conversation that can potentially enhance the viewing experience for others.
honestly you know for a scoundrel archetype youd think han's mo would be to literally to fight another day and think pragmatically but it had to be obi wan of all people to give him advice on that
Thanks for keeping up the great work Kazi. When the algorithm has clogged my feed with doom and gloom, I know I can come back and get a cleansing dose of thoughtful analysis of my favorite characters. You put so well into words what many of us felt growing up and watching these films, the lessons they taught us and the examples they set are more than just silly space movies. Keep it real bro. ❤
Thanks, I'm truly glad you're enjoying the content. I just want to do these characters justice, I think they're awesome and making videos about them give people an outlet for something positive
I wish they had just had Anakin kill her through his rage and not from a broken heart. It would have been the actual reason he turns to the dark side, he is alone, with no hope, by his angry evil choices. She was a strong character and deserved a better tragic end. It would have shocked the audience and made them realize that Vader was arrogant, selfish, and evil...
What ideology Anakin express during the picnic scene with Padme, is an old philosophy from Greece called the Philosopher King, that is basically a dictator, someone old and wise, you take the lead and shut down any kind of dissidence, is was a very popular idea back in ancient Greece and the late Roman Republic, but the Greek city states learned the hard way that was a very bad idea, when a General and late politician take control of one of the city bringing his army and only caused a lot of bloodshed, you can say the same thing with Sulla, but Sulla was intelligent enough to see that he passed a line that he should not cross, and that would open the door to anyone to do the same.
Another great analysis. I was looking forward to this one, because I love it whenever someone looks past some of the surface awkwardness of the romance scenes and really gets into what makes Anakin and Padme click. You did not disappoint
Yeah, I don't understand how Anakin and Padme being somewhat awkward around each other is a bad thing. It makes perfect sense and is very enduring for some reason. Maybe it's because when you think of Anakin Skywalker you think of Darth Vader, a fearsome sith lord. So seeing him as a 19 year old boy who is nervous to be around a girl who he likes is very relatable and cute. Makes you forget who he becomes because at times, he's just like anyone else. As a 19 year old girl who has NO experience with boys at all, I'm pretty sure I'd be an awkward mess around a guy I have feelings for😂😂😂😂
Thank you, thank you! yeah I really wanted to tackle their love story head on, cause like you said sometimes I think people look past some of the scenes or just miss the bigger picture.
I get the dislike of Jar Jar, I get the dislike of "I hate sand," and parts of the prequels don't hit the highs of the OT, but Palpatine's master plan is brilliant and brilliantly written. Great job with the videos
For me the biggest turning point of Anakin was the killing the Sand People. We all know he had a dark streak losing his mother and getting revenge was his first steps towards the dark side. Sure its one thing to fight and kill in a war but what Anakin did was pure murder he gave into violence and that set him on the path he’d take to becoming Darth Vader.
16:45 it’s not JUST the evil smirk, and Ian’s wonderful acting, that pulls off the reveal. Pay attention to the area over Palpatine’s left shoulder; the kind and understanding Chancellor is there physically, while the Dark Lord of the Sith is represented symbolically by the hooded statue.
Obiwan felt that he failed his apprentice but I believe there was more to this now I'm sure Obiwan could have done more for Anakin helped him not turn to the dark side there was some attachment between both master and the apprentice we have seen it .
there was another suite Vader could have worn that Palpatine didn't allow he felt if Vader did not suffer much then his apprentice would turn against him because we know Sith will turn againat each other and it's rare few care about others .
If Luke's father wanted his son to have that blue lightsaber it would seem to indicate Anakin was struck down by a sith lord and before dying made the request to have the saber passed down but Obiwan told a different story of how Luke's father died yeah it doesn't quite fit .
Another great video in this series. The only thing that saddens me about this video is that it ended when it did. I wish there was more . I get that you want to keep them under a certain amount of time so it gives you a consistency to time between videos because of analysis, writing, editing, and uploading, but you make them so well that I just want to keep listening. That's the highest compliment I can give.
Appreciate it, that truly is the best compliment. I can't wait to get more videos out for everyone, and maybe get a compiled version of the Anakin videos too so people can watch them all in one place
Welcome back. Is there a chance of facturing in the few star wars novels written with Lucas ("Darth Plagueis", "Cloak of Deception", "Shatterpoint" and "Labyrinth of Evil")? Even if not, your videos are great.
Maybe one day I'll get into books but it's just a matter of making the time for it, there's so much to unpack with just the movies as reference alone. And thanks, I really appreciate it
After seeing the prequeals and then the original trilogy, I can definitely say that Luke Skywalker is the best hero I have ever seen in cinema. He is compassionate, creative, caring and kind, while not afraid to put his foot down. Yet, he could also be impatient, arrogant and impulsive, making him human and relatable. To me, this version of Luke Skywalker is what I consider to be the real Luke, not the one with a beard. Not to mention, he had the perfect villain to challenge him, with Darth Vader, his father, and Emperor Palpatine, the Devil himself. He not only saved the rebellion, and the galaxy, but also his father. He is definitely the greatest Star Wars character and hero of all time.
Love your videos, they are very well done, informed analytical and entertaining but I did have one thing to point out, I don't believe that Luke actually used a force choke at the start on the gammorians(sp? Just realized I've never had to spell that) I believe I read somewhere (if only I could remember which one it is as there's so many bloody books from before) that he used a mind trick on them to make them believe that they were choking, I might not be explaining it properly but that makes a lot more sense considering he does not have knowledge as others would as far as the force choke is concerned, it makes more sense that he grew more skilled in the use of Mind Tricks, but I don't know with 100% accuracy, did someone ask lucas? I could be wrong. I did like your analysis of it either way.
Anakin Skywalker is one of my favorite characters. I remember seeing The Phantom Menace as a young eight year old boy. And I could relate to him in many ways. His story is both awesome and tragic. He is the most well rounded character I’ve ever seen or read about in fiction.
