As a non- native, I really enjoy your videos. I was wondering if it is ok for a non- native to perform your Pow Wow Sweat videos. I would not want to be disrespectful of your cultural heritage and perform them when I shouldn't.
Amazing and inspirational video, however, where did the Vikings, Asian and English people were left in this narrative? Did they respect and left Native American culture rise itself before the Spaniards arrived? Just curious.
as a reconnecting youth this is my equivalent of gold🤲 i’m so grateful for this channel and the entertaining ways you teach such valuable lessons, Ocem (thankyou) for helping me reconnect easier and for sharing a laugh with me🤲 I enjoyed this step by step guide very much
I know this account hasn’t been active in a few years, but I was hoping I could get in contact with you guys. I wanted to ask if you’re willing to do a video on the dance my tribe does. The Pascua Yaqui of Arizona have a deer dance and I would be more than delighted to see ya’ll make a video on our dance moves.
Omgg thank u I’ve been trying to find a good tutorial for ages! I tried using powwow videos but it’s a little complicated for me to understand but this has helped me so much idk it I’m gonna actualy dance powwow but it’s something I’ve been wanting to do just at home by myself so thank u so much!
Hi, I know you posted this video several years ago but I just want to thank you for posting it. Two of my great-grandmothers survived residential schools and, though they survived, the connection to their cultures died. I would not be who I am if they, their mothers, their grandmothers, and on back through the generations were not my ancestors. My cousin and I are trying to honor their strength by reconnecting with our heritage, and when I dance I can feel my great-grandmothers with me. Thank you so, so much for giving me the gift of that.
Amazing vid, I'm practicing this but I need some advice, my dad is Plains Cree on his dad's side but he's never told me about him or any other family members. I want to reconnect with all my culture but I don't really know how, we also didn't grow up on the Rez and my dad changed his name to a more white sounding one :(. If anyone could give me advice or suggestions, pls let me know <3.
The steps at 0:14 My dad taught me that step when he would take me to powwow while he held the army flag in his army uniforms. He said he does it because his dad did it when he practiced; before going into WW2. He said, sometimes just a little bit of something to show where you're from, tells a lot about how you hold yourself. He passed away in 2014 and I will always remember that. I still do these steps, even when it's not powoww time
No no no no, you ain't doing it right. You should be teaching people how to get sturdy with those moves. I'm a 49 year old Cree grass dancer. Why do you do this? And this is a man's dance. I'm not gonna show people how to jingle or fancy shawl dance. And if you're gonna do it, do it right. Smh
I was never born into this culture and my culture ig you can say it the Latin culture but those don’t touch my soul like how powwow does but Ik i would never get to be apart of the powwow club and Ik I’ll only get to visit one day and I also do know I might have some native blood but I just don’t know the percentage
I love your videos, love seeing the connections between the drum team and dancing. Are you still doing this? I am tryingvto help some young ladies get started with traditional dance, and I'd live to send you some questions.
