in 2024 it all makes sense now what she was trying to do....when it comes right down to it, we all do play at part in our community and wellbeing but what do we care where we put our trash and treat eachother on a daily basis....it not my problem we will say until it's too late.
Thatcher's contempt for the poor and willfully naive assumptions about how the wealthy gained their wealth is on full display here. Excellent acting by Streep.
Doesn't she seem to behave like a dictator, humiliating her own ministers in cabinet meetings of whom she is leader of, unable to hear their criticism and the proposal itself seems to be a mockery of constitution?
I believe Magaret Thatcher truly believed in what she thought was for the best for her country. No political decision however can be absolute beneficial.
Am I unusual? I remember the Poll Tax being introduced and I loved it! I lived alone and was paying £200 per annum in rates to the council. Next door lived 4 people of the same family who all worked full time like myself and paid £200 per annum in rates to the council. In other words, they paid £50 each. When the poll tax abolished the rates system I then paid £60 per annum instead of £200! Of course next door suddenly had to pay £240 in poll tax payments. They complained bitterly saying it was not fair. Why? They all paid exactly the same as myself now! Very fair indeed.
Reasonable person: you can't expect the poorest of the poor to pay the same taxes as a multimillionaire. Some out of touch bitch with bad hair: wHy NoT¿
Giddy with power, she clearly abandoned the principle of logical argument! That’s just a free associative rant that totally dodges all the arguments being put to her.
Thatcher became overly confident, allowing the credit to inflate her ego. She seemed to believe she was invincible. That she had all the answers. It's intriguing that when people praise "good women leaders," they often describe them as tough, almost like men and award them with titles like The Iron Lady. Shouldn't a woman's nurturing nature also be seen as a valuable quality in a leader?Must they all become men?
The down sizing of the british military, left tgem in a position of an act of war being no more than a amphibious operation that costed them many. All thie they did win the invasion, I'd like to see the future of the British milutary larger more capable.
The problem of Thatcher is that she's totally correct. Which begs the question of why she fills her cabinet and her party with cowardice people. You need people to work in a unity to achieve big goals, and if all you have are cowards, you're going to need a different strategy than to call them out for their cowardice.
